I installed KDE 4.8 and found that it does not come with the public holidays
for Singapore. I created a file for 2012 and 2013 which could be merged with
that of the first post.

[Bug 292544] New: Akonadi IMAP agent requests access to KDE wallet on X session login

2012-01-26 Thread Davor Cubranic
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292544

Summary: Akonadi IMAP agent requests access to KDE wallet on X
session login
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
AssignedTo: er...@kde.org
ReportedBy: cubra...@acm.org
CC: vkra...@kde.org, kdepim-bugs@kde.org

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

As soon as I log in, I'm greeted with a dialog from KDE wallet with the
following message:
The application '{account-name} of type IMAP E-Mail Server' has requested to
open the wallet 'kdewallet'. Please enter the password for this wallet
below.

Why is it necessary to have Akonadi IMAP server request access to the wallet
the second I log in? And is it really necessary to have it running at all times
even before I started Kontact/KMail?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
The KDE wallet password dialog comes up.

Expected Results:
Wallet password is not requested until the IMAP server needs to be queried from
KMail.

[Bug 280026] Incorrect size of Base64 encoded attachment

Patch for kmime_content.cpp to fix this issue

Still appears broken in 4.8.0. Hopefully this patch is the right approach to
fixing it.

Rather than simply changing the existing logic from the current size*3/4 to
size*4/3 I've used the maxEncodedSizeFor method from Base64Codec for a
hopefully more accurate estimate.

OK sorry, correction. Seems like the POP3 account isn't supposed to show up as
a separate element and other imap accounts are shown after a kmail restart.
However the GSSAPI imap account still doesn't show up.

When clicking "Add" in the incoming accounts config, I also immediately get
this useless error message:

Resource IMAP Account 12 is broken. This resource is now offline

before I even entered a server name or anything. It also seems that the issue
is not limited to GSSAPI auth or imap. I just set up a GMX account which now
shows as "Online, Idle" in Akonadi Console, but it's not in the Browser.

[Bug 292516] New: KMail2 IMAP accounts keep crashing and loosing email content

2012-01-26 Thread Otter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292516

Summary: KMail2 IMAP accounts keep crashing and loosing email
content
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: otter...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.4)
OS:Linux

the following is showing up for one IMAP account.

KCrash: Application 'akonadi_imap_resource' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/home/chrisg/.kde4/socket-linux-5xzp.site/kdeinit4__0
void Akonadi::NotificationSource::serviceUnregistered(const QString&)

void Akonadi::NotificationSource::unsubscribe() "akonadi_imap_resource_11"
Lost connection to resource

The stream parser raised an exception: Unable to read more data
ProcessControl: Application '/usr/bin/akonadi_imap_resource' returned with exit
code 253 (Unknown error)
Database "akonadi" opened using driver "QMYSQL"

Is this fixable or do I have to wait for 4.8?

I will apologize right up front for saying this. I know the developers are
working hard on many issues. The release of KMail2 in to the wild seems to
have been premature. Please, please, if something new say a major change of
structure (such as Kmail2) is going to be released on an unsuspecting and
trusting public do some more testing. Don't assume anything about the end
user's skills or experience. Please don't give the condescending remarks about
using unstable software/user beware. The stable releases across most
distributions seem to be reporting problems so the use of unstable software is
not the issue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just start Kmail or Kontact.

Actual Results:
bug crash with the following:

Executable: akonadi_imap_resource PID: 20161 Signal: Segmentation fault (11)

QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 12 and type 'Read', disabling...
The stream parser raised an exception: Unable to read more data
ProcessControl: Application '/usr/bin/akonadi_imap_resource' returned with exit
code 253 (Unknown error)
Database "akonadi" opened using driver "QMYSQL"

Expected Results:
receive email without crashes.

Obviously very frustrated. Just want to find some help on getting this to
work.

In any case, removing the "log-file" entry from
~/.gnupg/gpg.conf
fixes things.

[Bug 292168] Kontact crashed at the end of automatic filtering messages in the inbox

--- Comment #1 from Christophe Giboudeaux 2012-01-26

(In reply to comment #0)

> The crash can be reproduced every time.
>

Please try the following steps to get a backtrace of the real issue:

1/ R gdb --args kontact --nofork &> ~/bug292168.txt
2/ When the gdb prompt "(gdb)" appears, enter:
- "set logging file ~/bug292168.txt"
- "set logging on"
- "start" and wait for the prompt to reappear, then enter "break __cxa_rethrow"
and finally "cont" to let the window appear.
3/ Reproduce the crash. If kontact crashes, the window will appear frozen.
That's normal.
4/ in the konsole window, run "thread apply all bt" if you're prompted to
continue, press enter
5/ and finally, when the "(gdb)" prompt reappears, enter "kill" then "quit"

You will then find a bug292168.txt file in your home directory. Please attach
it to this report.

At now we can use plasmaMailChecker plasmoid -
http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/plasmaMailChecker?content=140196 - it can
show mail headers for each message, and group messages if you have many new
mail at once.
Also it can work with akonadi accounts directly and listen for new mail.

Not sure if I've got a duplicate.

I'm now trying to clear it all off the system and start over, however the
misconfiguration that prevents load of kmail doesn't allow me to change
settings. Looking at email threads it appears to be all in akondai or
whatever...but can I blow the database away and start over?

Kmail is totally unusable across upgrades etc...crashes on start (using kde

I sometimes see this. Simple workaround: Switch to an empty folder (e.g.
outbox), then switch back.

But yes, annoying as hell.

I ran into a version of this too; in a threaded folder, down-arrow and up-arrow
would alternate between navigating on a thread and folding/unfolding it, with
problems navigating between threads.

I found a workaround -- go to settings -> Configure KMail -> Appearance ->
Message List and change the Default Theme to Classic; then things work fine.

While you're at it, you should probably change the bug title to something that
describes the problem rather than the environment.

(KMail 4.7.3 on KDE 4.7.4 from Ubuntu 11.10).

What can I say, this bug is always reproducible on my configuration.

I did notice 2 things :
- when double clicking the email, there is no comparison shown into the email
window ; the comparison is only shown in the email content pane (as it can be
seen in the 3 screeshots)
- I you receive an invitation to an event, save it to your calendar, everything
is ok. But if you go change the name of the event in korganizer, then go back
to the email invitation you can see the same strange behavior : the name into
the email invitation is stroked when the new name you used is shown in red.

KMail Version 4.7.4: I right click on "Local Folders" -> "Add Folder", insert a
name and then click OK, the tree of folders is refreshed to show the created
folder.
No need to reboot: this issue can be closed as solved or maybe wait for someone
else to confirm before doing so.

[Bug 292454] New: Configuration of custom headers writes wrong section header in config file

2012-01-26 Thread Shai
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292454

Summary: Configuration of custom headers writes wrong section
header in config file
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: config dialog
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: s...@platonix.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.4)
OS:Linux

After migration from KMail 1 (kde 4.6, Ubuntu), where I had my custom header
set.

The behavior I saw was: "Configure KMail..." -> composer -> headers => shows no
headers. If I add a header, it appears to put it in the list of headers, but if
the settings dialog is closed and reopened then the header is missing again;
and of course, it does not show up in messages sent.

When I checked the kmail2rc file, I found this section in it:

[Mime #]
name=
value=

When I compared this to the old kmailrc, I saw that the section header is wrong
-- there, it was "[Mime #0]" (notice added "0").

I closed Kontact, fixed the file by manually editing it and now it works as
advertised.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
(a guess, based on my experience -- haven't really tried it)
(steps a-b optional, presumably created broken config file)

a. Use kmail 1, define a custom Mime header
b. Migrate to KMail2

Now you have a config file with an invalid "[Mime #]" section.

1. Settings -> Configre KMail -> choose Composer component -> Choose "headers"
tab

2. Add a header.
3. Confirm the change and close the configuration dialog

Actual Results:
The header is not added; when you reopen the configuration dialog, it isn't
there, and it isn't added to sent messages.

Expected Results:
The header is added -- shows up in configuration dialog and added to messages.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.0.0-15-generic
Compiler: gcc

Workaround: Fix configuration file manually

still close the dialog - if its not easily fixed, then just remove the button

[Bug 292449] New: New Imap Account added with Kolab Accountwizard only shows up after KMail restart

2012-01-26 Thread Andre Heinecke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292449

Summary: New Imap Account added with Kolab Accountwizard only
shows up after KMail restart
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: aheine...@intevation.de

Version: Git (master) (using Devel)
OS:All

When I add an Account with the Accountwizard in Kontact (in my case a Kolab
account) after configuring it the Imap account does not show up in the KMail
part of Kontact. Only after closing and restarting Kontact is the account
shown.

This does not occur in the other Kontact parts using the same imap account
(Korganizer, kaddressbook etc.) where directly after configuration the
groupware information from this imap account can be accessed.

I've set Operating System to all because I can 100% reproduce it on both
Windows and Linux.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
With an empty setup:
- Start KMail
- Configure a Kolab account in the Accountwizard
- Sync

Actual Results:
Kmail does not show an imap account.

Expected Results:
The imap account is shown in Kmail with the collection tree filling up while
the initial Sync is working.

[Bug 292393] [PostgreSQL backend] akonadictl tries to start outdated version of PostgreSQL server and crashes

works.

So it seems that auto-configuring of the postgresql directory does not work.
This manual setup needs to be adapted on each major server upgrade, thus I am
wondering whether I miss from distribution specific package, but did not found
a clear candidate to install.

Name= and Host= were auto-filled. Thus not necessary to specify them.

postgres as ServerPath binary does not work, cause it doesn´t support option

Summary: Stop button never enabled in "Find Messages" dialog
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 1.99.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: lindsay.mathie...@gmail.com

Version: 1.99.0 (using Devel)
OS:Linux

When performing a search, e.g "Subject = *" on my gmail imap account with tens
of thousands of messages, the stop button is never enabled, no matter how long
the search takes. However the dialog can be just closed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the "Find messages" dialog for a large account
Choose a open ended search such as "Subject = *"
Click "Search"

Actual Results:
Search continues until it is ended or you close the dialiog. Stop button is
never enabled

Expected Results:
Once search starts, Stop button should be enabled, allowing you to stop the
search without closing the dialog. This would allow us to change the search
parameters.

But, I think, better is to use encoding for mail subject as used for message
body (if in subject encoding is miss), instead of try to autodetecting it.

Yup, broken again, indeed. I had it working in 4.7.3 and 4.7.4 but now 4.8 is
borking out again. I enabled 'recent addresses' which has most of them, as
clicking the select button and then going through that list is even more work.
I don't understand why this keeps on breaking. :( Hope it gets fixed soon, I do
like kmail.

(also wish the google contacts akonadi resource would finally work again (had
good hopes for 4.8, but it still segfaults), so I don't have to export my
contacts to a vcf file, but that's a different issue :) )
