[Bug 292661] New: Kontact crashes periodically

2012-01-27 Thread Stephan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292661

   Summary: Kontact crashes periodically
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: steph...@mweb.co.za

Application: kontact (4.8.0)
KDE Platform Version: 4.8.00 (4.8.0
Qt Version: 4.7.4
Operating System: Linux 3.0.0-15-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Kontact crashes frequently. Sometimes, it is immediately after startup, but if
it starts up successfully, the crash is usually after I do "something". For
example, if I open another email, it would occassionally freeze for a few
seconds before crashing. The same thing happens if I press a shortcut key like
"Delete". If I leave it open in the background it seems to be fine, but will
also crash eventually.

It doesn't happen everytime. But it happens frequent enough that it is almost
impossible to work through 20 new email without crashing once.

Something else I've noticed that may be relevant, is that the Akonadi tray
successfully downloads my email in the background. But occassionally it will
tell me that it was unsuccessful and I should enter a new password. Though, it
may also be a problem my be with my ISP, the internet occassionally fades away
for a minute or two.

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

This goes with my theory :
clean .kde tmps like this :
rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER /tmp/ksocket-$USER /tmp/kde-$USER
sometimes do magic :)

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292497

--- Comment #9 from Russ Fineman 2012-01-27 19:30:32 ---
In my case it filters some but not all ( this morning 208) messages were not
filtered). I usually filter on Subject, To: or From:. If I look at
Akonadiconsole the Mail Filter Agent Shows as Ready.

get error message Unknown error. (No items found)

Top Line of error box shows:Error applying Mail Filter Move-

If I answer the message I sometimes Get additional Error message:
Unknown error. (NO ImapParserException: Unable to read more data
)

Top Line of error box shows: Error applying mail Filter modifications - Mail
Filter Agent

My mail server is a POP3, I don't use IMAP.

Get alot of errors in Akonadiconsole debugger:

[Bug 292619] Sending an email makes KMail unresponsive for 5+ seconds

2012-01-27 Thread Davor Cubranic
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292619

--- Comment #1 from Davor Cubranic 2012-01-27 19:24:21 ---
Even closing a composer window, choosing Discard in the warning dialog, shows
the same behaviour. If anything, it takes even longer, 8-10 seconds in my
tests. Shouldn't this be a zero-work op? Nothing needs to be saved or indexed.

To replicate:

1. Ctrl-N to start writing a new message
2. enter random text in the body of the message
3. click the window close button
4. choose 'Discard' in the warning dialog
5. observe 10s delay before KMail becomes interactive again.

Can i provide more informative things? Log etc...?

[Bug 292622] New: moved mails reappearing in sent mail folder

2012-01-27 Thread Dr . Christoph Pospiech
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292622

Summary: moved mails reappearing in sent mail folder
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 1.99.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: pospi...@de.ibm.com

Version: 1.99.0 (using KDE 4.7.4)
OS:Linux

After sending a mail, I usually move it to a different folder. In particular, I
delete it from the sent-mail folder. After sending the next mail and opening
the sent-mail folder, the deleted mail reappears in the sent-mail folder. It is
a duplicate of the mail that was moved. Deleting the duplicate copy from the
sent mail folder appears to remove it permanently.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. send a mail
2. move mail from sent-mail to another folder
3. send another mail
4. close sent-mail folder (i.e. open another folder)
5. close kmail2, open it again
6. open sent-mail folder
Not quite sure whether steps 4.+5. are actually necessary,
but it helped me to reproduce the error more often.
Step 6 is necessary, the mail count in sent-mail is increasing
when opening the sent-mail folder, i.e. the mails only reappear
when you look at them (reminds me faintly of Schroedingers cat...).

Actual Results:
Mails that had been moved to another folder (and deleted from sent-mail)
reappear in the folder and have to be deleted a second time.

Expected Results:
Mails that are moved away should stay out of the folder.

OS: Linux (i686) release 3.0.0-15-generic
Compiler: gcc

KMail 4.7.4 on KUbuntu 11.10 (Oneiric)

When I send an email, I get a "successfully sent" notification within a second
or so, but then the composer window becomes a gray square and KMail is
completely unresponsive for 5 seconds or more. Eventually, the main window is
repainted and the application starts processing events again. During this time,
I do not see any disk activity.

For me an IMAP account from a Courier server. Some messages do get filtered,
others not. No recognizable pattern. I've just enabled the filter log, so no
info yet.
I believe Sascha has both POP and IMAP.

[Bug 273949] Akonadi Resource always seen as readonly

I am not sure if my problem is related to this but since KDE 4.8.0 a previously
(KDE 4.7.4) working CalDAV resource is now seen as readonly.

I think this is due to an empty AccesRight attribute. This attribute I can see
in akonadi Console => Browser =>   =>  => right
click then folder properties => Attributes tab => AccesRight.

If I change AccesRight value to wcdW (or just a), then I can write again, but
this is for limited time since AccesRights becomes empty again. I wonder who is
writing that value?

The debug window shows the following when Acces Rights gets modified. Does
anyone know what is happening?

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258271

--- Comment #21 from Sebastian Trueg 2012-01-27 13:20:54 ---
Git commit 0f4f6e97f84fe5cd10ebcafeb6676026f9efd486 by Sebastian Trueg, on
behalf of David Faure.
Committed on 06/01/2012 at 12:33.
Pushed by trueg into branch 'KDE/4.8'.

KTcpSocket: forward encryptedBytesWritten from QSslSocket.

Very important for the timeout detection in the akonadi imap resource.
write(5MB) gives an immediate bytesWritten(5MB), only encryptedBytesWritten
allows to see some regular activity on the socket.

apparently, all file descriptors have been consumed. I increased the limit to
16384, and then the crash would look similar, with the last line reading

close(16384) = -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor)

May be related, the trace is full of messages like

recvmsg(3, 0x7d5c88b0, MSG_CMSG_CLOEXEC) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)

maybe that's the reason it's running out of descriptors?

Of course, it's very annoying not being able to start my main mailer :-(

[Bug 292582] New: Kmail startup crash, after upgrade to KDE 4.8

2012-01-27 Thread Sascha
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292582

Summary: Kmail startup crash, after upgrade to KDE 4.8
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sasch...@directbox.com

Application: kontact (4.8.0)
KDE Platform Version: 4.8.00 (4.8.0
Qt Version: 4.7.4
Operating System: Linux 3.0.0-15-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Upgraded the kubuntu KDE packages, and since then kmail alwasy crashes some
seconds after the window appeared. I did some runs under "strace kmail
--nofork", and it appeared as if the process is running out of file
descriptors. Increased the ulimit, and voila, still a crash, but a little
later. Will add some more information in a moment.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[Bug 292576] New: KMail sometimes does not mark forwarded mails as "forwarded"

2012-01-27 Thread gringmuth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292576

Summary: KMail sometimes does not mark forwarded mails as
"forwarded"
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: gringm...@forstbaumschule.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

I have to forward many incoming mails to other persons. These mails should be
marked as "forwarded" in the message-list, but they are marked sometimes and
sometimes not. I am afraid I did not find any rule when this happens - it
appears for mails with or without attachment, text-mails, HTML-mails...

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Forward a mail using the symbol in KMail's toolbar or by rhightclicking on the
message choosing "forward..."

Actual Results:
The forwarded mail is not marked as "forwarded" in - let's say - 75 % of my
trials; but some mails are marked as they should be

Expected Results:
Forwarded mails should be marked as "forwarded" always.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.1.0-1.2-default
Compiler: gcc

openSUSE 12.1

Sorry, no info in this file.
If you use kdepim 4.6 or later, you
You must go to "Akonadi Mail Resources", press "..." button, select needed
folder, check "Enabled" and save. That's all.

If you use early kdepim, you must use pop or imap accounts.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292565

Summary: KMail/akonadi doesn't sync current (IMAP) folder
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: h...@design-d.de

Version: 4.8
OS:Linux

KMail seems to be syncing folder by folder, but doesn't bother to update the
folder currently open; "update folder"/F5 has no effect. I tried 4.8.0 today -
after three hours it's still busy with other folders.

Might be connected with the fact that the account in question has about 130
subfolders with 45000 messages and 25 GB...
Switching from IMAP to dIMAP didn't seem to make any difference (apart from
initial download), so the problem probably is administrative overhead, not data
volume.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just fire up KMail ...

Actual Results:
KMail and Akonadi report syncing one folder after another. A complete sync
seems to take days.

Expected Results:
The folder currently open should be updated at once.

Client: KMail 4.8.0 / Fedora Rawhide 17, Server: Fedora 14 / cyrus imapd 2.3.18
Protocol: IMAP or dIMAP
Connection: doesn't seem to matter whether I'm on the server's LAN or external
2MBit connection.

Actually, something happens: all actions get dispatched to the previous contact
in the list.

Hi Hans,

The resource shipped with KDE 4.8 has a new UI for this task where you can
enter a main login / password couple in the main configuration dialog and use
it in all URLs you add to the resource.

I think this addresses your request, but feel free to reopen this bug if I
misunderstood what you need.

Cheers,
Grégory

[Bug 292562] New: invalid media type text/directory

2012-01-27 Thread Christopher Yeleighton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292562

   Summary: invalid media type text/directory
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: giecr...@stegny.2a.pl
CC: to...@kde.org

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

A contact copied to the clipboard is of type text/directory, which is unknown
even to KDE. If I paste my contact data to a mail message, my recipients say
WTF?

It is really annoying how KDE does not enable me to efficiently communicate
with other people.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Tell KAddressBook to copy the selected contact to the clipboard.
  2. Tell KMail to paste into Composer.
  3. Tell KMail to open the attachment.

Actual Results:
  2. text/directory
  3. opens in KWrite

Expected Results:
  3. An offer to import the pasted contact into the address book.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.1.0-1.2-desktop
Compiler: gcc
___
Workaround:
  4. Tell KWrite to save the attachment as .vcard.
  5. Tell Kontact to attach the .vcard file.

This workaround does *not* work when the recipient uses KDE because KDE does
not send VCards to KAddressBook. It opens them in KWrite, which does not make
much sense if the VCard contains a photo.

So in this case, the recipient also needs a workaround:

  6. Tell KAddressBook to import the VCard.
