[Bug 293024] New: Add possibility to associate akonadi resource with network manager connection

2012-02-01 Thread Dominik Pospisil
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293024

Summary: Add possibility to associate akonadi resource with
network manager connection
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: domi...@netspire.net

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.4)
OS:Linux

It would be very nice if an user has a possibility to associate akonadi
resource with network manager connection. The typical use scenario is mail
server accessible only throug VPN connection. This will prevent akonadi/kmail
from spamming user that server is not reachable when VPN connection is down and
on the other side automatically sync resource when the connection becomes
available.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Resource is automatically synced if and only if associated connection is up.

a large number of new mails is diplayed without header, sender, recipient and
date.
What I can see is the contents.

What happens to the mail?
When it reaches my computer header, sender, recipient and date are stripped by
Kmail2.
I'm really desperate. I tried to stick with Kmail and managed the disaster in
Okt 2011.
But now?

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
none

Expected Results:
that mails are displayed right

I'm really desperate. I tried to stick with Kmail and managed the disaster in
Okt 2011.
But now?
Are there still users of Kmail out there or did they all change to othere-mail
Suits?
Nobody can work this way.
It#s a pity because I'm working on Kmail for a very long time. It was reliable
and nice to handle.

I have been experiencing this also for KDE 4.8 using crm114. I had the
impression that an already existing header with Content-Type: something is
been replaced by kmail with this other one mentioned. I've opted for unsetting
the filtering option for the moment.

[Bug 293033] New: Reply-To overrides From when replying to sender/all

2012-02-01 Thread kavol
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293033

Summary: Reply-To overrides From when replying to sender/all
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: ka...@seznam.cz

Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS:Linux

If an incoming email has Reply-To set, like for example:

From: Sender Name n...@example.com
To: list for announcements announce_l...@example.com
Reply-To: discussion_l...@example.com

trying to reply to the author (from) sets To address to the Reply-To address
instead of the author's address, i.e. discussion_l...@example.com instead of
n...@example.com

Also when trying to use the reply to all feature, the sender address is
omitted, i.e. the list of addresses does NOT contain n...@example.com

There is no way to send the answer to the sender and not to Reply-To address
except for deleting the prefilled address from the reply and entering the
sender's address manually.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
see above, get an email with Reply-To set

1. hit r on it and examine the message being composed
2. hit a on it ...
3. hit shift+A on it ...

Actual Results:
1. To is set to Reply-To address - this is correct
2. To is set to Reply-To and To addresses
3. To is set to Reply-To address

Expected Results:
1. the same - To is set to reply-to address
2. To is set to Reply-To and From addresses
3. To is set to From address

While it may arguable if the case 2. should include also the original To,
i.e. using really all concerned addresses and not just a subset (when
Reply-To serves as a replacement of To), the most important thing is that
cases 1. and 3. have to differ. The reply to author function is chosen
explicitly when the reply should go to the sender, overriding the implicit
mechanism of chosing the address in standard reply.

Note that this has worked as expected until kmail 4.7.4, it got broken in
4.8.0.

p.s. my case is using this with mailinglist where other headers that I haven't
mentioned like List-Post may have some influence - if an exact reproducer
message is needed, I'll try to refine some

[Bug 293039] New: KMail fails to parse emails properly in some cases

2012-02-01 Thread m.o
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293039

Summary: KMail fails to parse emails properly in some cases
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: m...@online.de

Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS:Linux

KMail fails to parse emails properly when (this is the way I see it) there are
different message parts in one email, e.g. plaintext and HTML or plaintext and
attachement, i.e.: for a lot of mails.

This is the exact output for a mail where parsing (and encoding) fails:
http://pastebin.com/YnqU1FtW

This is the output for a mail consisting of plaintext and an attachement
(anonymised):
http://pastebin.com/cQ4miUZ5

These badly displayed emails don't always start with This is a multi-part
message in MIME format., see the recent Linux Foundation Newsletter:
http://pastebin.com/466LanBS

The same happens when there is a signature:
http://pastebin.com/xzd8PqCj

One more, just the top lines this time:
http://pastebin.com/Jq0JRsgq

I just discovered that it may not perfectly reproducable. I get this newsletter
One Word A Day and it was parsed correctly yesterday, but not today.
Yesterday:
http://pastebin.com/eRVpta85

Today:
http://pastebin.com/TaCqWE7L

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Receive a multi-part email.

Actual Results:
See pastebin examples.

Expected Results:
An email properly parsed, readable, with the right encoding, giving you the
ability to choose between e.g. plaintext and HTML or allowing you to open an
attachement.

This is only happening since 4.8.0.

I'm not sure about the severity of this bug, but since I seem to lose my
attachement (it may not be gone but I cannot open it which I would like to in
the next days or I won't get my salary :) ), I set the severity to major.
Feel free to reduce severity if this is inappropriate.

one.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Opening KMail2 is enough; this is the list that shows up everytime: in uscita

or something like that)in arrivo (inbox).

Expected Results:
This should be the right order: in arrivo (inbox)in uscita (outbox)inviata

Please test if this is the case using kmail2/kde 4.8
I also can not see how this is a kaddressbook bug?

It is possible to select a default email address pr contact. click the
elipsis button right of the email address field in the contact editor and add
emailadresses, then select which one to use as default.

As far as I can see, that is what you ask for.

Otherwise please reopen this and explain further.

work to some degree, eg entering family will show all members of family

--- Comment #4 from Torgny Nyblom nyblom kde org 2012-02-01 19:05:49 ---
Do you have any filters? Some filters sometimes mangle the message so that the
mime header in the main header is converted into text/plain.

The attached mail is of text/plain type and should be rendered as shown. The
embedded mime parts should only be interpreted as mime parts when the parent
says so and in this case it doesn't.

This is due to the capability of the vcf format. create a new resource of type
Personal Contacts (or other that supports storing groups) and move your
contacts there.

Curerent (KDE 4.8) KAddressbook does not allow you to drop groups on resources
that does not support it. Vcf does not support groups, old versions of
kaddressbook stored groups in the applcations data directory rather than with
the contacts, so the current situation is an improvement. To use groups, create
a contact resource of type Personal Contacts or other supporting groups
storage.

[Bug 293039] KMail fails to parse emails properly in some cases

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293039

--- Comment #5 from m o online de 2012-02-01 19:25:30 ---
Yes, I'm using bogofilter (and have been for at least 2-3 years. Last update
was on 12th of January and I haven't had this problem before 4.8, so it'd be
strange if it was bogofilter's fault).
Besides that I'm using some custom filters using only standard KMail rules like
Subject contains 'orange' - move to 'fruit', but that shouldn't be a
problem, right?
I'll turn off bogofilter to see if that changes anything.

By the way, in the meantime I've received multi-part emails and they were
parsed correctly. Maybe they got a different handling by bogofilter. We'll see.

You can add a birthday resource to KOrganizer, which may be filtered by
categories to show only desired contacts' birthdays. Using KDE 4.8, adding new
contacts with birthdays shows immediately.
Please reopen if this still does not work using KDE 4.8 or greater

Select the group in the contact list to view its members with email addresses
in the contact view pane.
Doubleclick the group in the contact list to edit, a dialog will allow you to
add/remove members, or change the email address used for members that have more
addresses.

Please reopen if you still have this problem using KDE 4.8 or greater.

Thanks for the explanation. I was used to the old kde3 kaddressbook way where
contacts groups were in a separate area and did not notice that new way to
manage them. Not so straightforward to my point, but anyway it works, that's

Please open systemsettings and go to the Personal Information module.
Then
1. Make sure your have at least one akonadi resource for contacts. If not,
create one. You can create a VCard dir or file one pointing to your existing
collection, or -- recommended -- create a Personal Contacts resource and
later import your contacts from the old location. I recommend this because that
type allows storing groups and is the default type now.
2. Make sure that in the KDE Resources section when your select Contacts
from the dropdown, akonadi-resource is checked.

Please close this bug or ask me to, if this information helps, or you otherwise
solved the problem.

Still the case using KDE 4.8 - both the problem after copying, and the issue
with wrong mimetype in kmail. The mimetype of the attached contact should be
text/vcard, which can be displayed in a meaningful way (although kmails viewer
fails showing the image).

This is a standard KDE component, and in effect, typing in it does a search in
your contacts.
The placeholder string Search is used in all KDE applications not modifying
it, which are most. If you want to suggest changing this, direct the wish at
kdelibs/kdeui :)

the official kdelibs 4.8 source for kservicegroup.cpp doesn't even have 773

there has been no change in kservicegroup.cpp since November of 2010.

Could there be some openSUSE specific mods to this code.

In any event, this looks like a bug in kdelibs and not in kdepim

--- Comment #2 from trebla netspace net au 2012-02-02 00:07:32 ---
No. Always defaults to USA when adding new contacts. NB Can't use
Kmail at all at the moment - Akonadi server won't start. Are you
interested in me sending a crash report, or are all fc14 compatible
strands now unsupported?

KAddressbook should use the country set in your KDE locale settings as
 default.
Is this not working for you?

[Bug 293105] New: Kmail2 crashes when send again is selected from the message menu

2012-02-01 Thread Claus Wilke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293105

Summary: Kmail2 crashes when send again is selected from the
message menu
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: wi...@spamcop.net

Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS:Linux

kmail crashes when I select send again from the message menu. This happens
with one imap account and one local mail account. However, it doesn't seem to
happen with another imap account. Not sure why. It may depend on the specific
message I select to resend rather than the account, but I tried several
messages so it's not just one bad message.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
select message from sent messages, click on send again.

Actual Results:
kmail crashes.

Expected Results:
kmail opens editor with message.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.1.0-1.2-desktop
Compiler: gcc

Screenshot of issue in KDE 4.8.0

This does still happen in 4.8.0.

How to reproduce:
→ Open edit dialog for a contact
→ Resize height of window
→ Click on 'Add' below the 'Phones' list several times
