[Bug 298349] kmail2 composer (still) fails to display non-ascii characters in quoted text on reply with some mails (only with nested multipart mime parts?)

2012-04-26 Thread Marc Schiffbauer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298349

--- Comment #8 from Marc Schiffbauer msch...@gentoo.org ---
(In reply to comment #7)
in KMail settings, composer, charset.. is Keep original charset ...
 checked ?

 Try to uncheck it.

I unchecked it. Now it looks correct! Thanks!

But: Should we nevertheless consider that a bug? Because when viewing the
original mail all looks correct. Only the composer does something to the text
that is not entirely correct when this setting is enabled.

Or: Why should someone enable that setting? Should it perhaps be removed?

[Bug 298837] New: kmail does not re-ask for SMTP password if it has been entered wrong

2012-04-26 Thread Marc Schiffbauer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298837

Bug ID: 298837
  Severity: normal
   Version: Git (master)
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: kmail does not re-ask for SMTP password if it has been
entered wrong
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: msch...@gentoo.org
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmail2

When sending a mail the first time after akonadi/kmail startup I get asked to
enter my SMTP password.

When I enter the wrong password, sending the message of cource fails. But
instead of asking me again for another password, kmail tries again and again
with the first password and keeps telling me that the SMTP server would not
support PLAIN Auth, which ir wrong.
(I use PLAIN Auth via SSL on submission port 587)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a SMTP Server that requires auth and supports PLAIN auth via submission
port 587 using SSL (mayb that error happens with other setups as well, I didi
not test)
2. Send a mail so that you will be asked for the password
3. enter a wrong password, you will noct be asked again
Actual Results:
kmail keeps trying to send the mail using wrong password

Expected Results:
should correctly detect that the password was wrong and ask the user again.

What is a bit strange here for some time now, which I should mention:

I have enabled Save password anywhere so kmail/akonadi should remember my
SMTP password in kwallet, but in fact it will always ask me the first time
after akonadi startup. This is not the case for my IMAP resources, there it
always uses the saved password...

There's another bug that might be related (should be noted in the report),
though that one appears to be IMAP specific and I'm only using local mail
folders (no IMAP at all). ?

I (indirectly) confirm with this Fedora Bugzilla filed during Fedora 17 Beta
testing: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=814410 .
The symptoms are described in a very similar way, so I suppose they are
related.

Grumble. The bug reporting tool indicate it would note that bug as a possible
duplicate in the report. But I guess it didn't. I'll track it down again.

[Bug 298257] Akonadi resources start using a lot of memory and cpu when a .dat file is corrupted

2012-04-26 Thread Christophe Giboudeaux
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298257

--- Comment #4 from Christophe Giboudeaux cgiboude...@gmx.com ---
From bug 298626
-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

My system was completely frozen due to a kernel panic, so I manually powered it
down and started again. After boot, I got this crash, restarted the
mailfilter_agent, and then got it again.

I saw something similar after upgrading from KDE 4.7 to 4.8. I suspect some
kind of data corruption or unexpected condition causes mailfter_agent to crash.
When this happened before, it took deleting all the local data and then
re-importing it to get mailfilter_agent to work again.

---

Deleting the concerned .dat file also fixed the issue for the reporter.

New crash information added by DrKonqi

akonadi_imap_resource (4.8) on KDE Platform 4.8.2 (4.8.2) using Qt 4.8.1

kmail crashed when i tried to configure it with imap account.
I make make a mistake in the configuration and i think it's the cause of this
crash.
drkonqi made me a pop-up that the bug had been fixed in kde 4.8.1 but I'm on
4.8.2.

[Bug 298257] Akonadi resources start using a lot of memory and cpu when a .dat file is corrupted

2012-04-26 Thread Scott Kitterman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298257

--- Comment #5 from Scott Kitterman k...@kitterman.com ---
akonadi_mailfilter_agent is shipped as part of kmail, so I think the product is
wrong on this bug.

[Bug 289062] kmail2, 4.7.90: cannot delete e-mails in inbox (all back after server sync)

Confirmed. I encounter the same problem with kmail 4.8.1 (openSUSE-12.2
milestone-2 (march-2012)).

- When I change the trash to a local trash folder, emails are removed.
- When I set the trash to my other IMAP server (cyrus imap), the emails are
also removed.

However, the emails are not removed when a the dovecot (2.1.x) IMAP server is
used.

- In case of cyrus, I see IMAP messages passing by when I delete the email
(this server is located on another box than the client)

- I don't see any IMAP messages when I delete email from my INBOX on dovecot
(perhaps the latter is the case because the dovecot IMAP server is on the same
system as my IMAP client)?

With kmail 1.13.7 (or KDE-4.6.5) removing emails from the (same) dovecot server
is working.
