My problem is, it does not always work, or not.
It's erratic. I restart kmail, and it works with a list email that failed to
get recognized before.

The success rate is roughly 20% though, makes it a real pain when you have to
setup kmail/kontact on a fresh kde setup.

Shouldn't akonadi a bit more resistant and before crashing, just try to

[Bug 300003] New: KMail messes up special folders settings

2012-05-14 Thread SZÉKELYI Szabolcs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33

Bug ID: 33
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.8.2
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: KMail messes up special folders settings
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: c...@mail.3d.hu
  Hardware: Ubuntu Packages
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmail2

The folders used for sent mail, trash, and templates get a new value without
user intent, and KMail starts to use them that way.

After setting my accounts correctly, it happened many times that these settings
were reset to some random (but valid) folder. I'm totally sure that I didn't
modify these settings, especially baceuse the new values were shared folders
for the workgroup that I'd never set.

Maybe if a folder is unaccessible for some temporary error, then KMail resets
these to the first one that's accessible?

Reproducible: Sometimes

Actual Results:
The values for the special folders settings get a random value over time.

Expected Results:
These settings should stay constant and changed only if the user sets it to
another value.

[Bug 300013] New: Delete Folder request is ignored

2012-05-14 Thread Graeme Hewson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=300013

Bug ID: 300013
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.8.2
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Delete Folder request is ignored
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: b...@wormhole.me.uk
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: folders
   Product: kmail2

To reproduce:

Create a test folder in akonadi-local.
Click delete folder (either in popup menu after secondary mouse click in
folder, or in main Folder menu).
In response to popup message Are you sure you want to delete the empty folder
name?, click on Cancel.
Click on delete folder again. Nothing happens.

To delete the test folder at this point, it's necessary to click on another
folder, then click again on the test folder. Now clicking delete folder again
shows the popup confirm message, as expected.

thememanagertest in grantlee/tests hangs.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. cmake . -DKDE4_BUILD_TESTS=true
2. make -j5
3. ctest

Firstly, the themepath is hard-coded to
/mnt/archive/src/kde-trunk/src/kdepim/kaddressbook/grantlee/tests/themes/.

Then, a couple of comparisons fail, where the 'actual' result is correct.

Finally, the test hangs.

I am using 4.8.3 now and can confirm this nasty bug back to 4.8.0. Some of the
incoming mails are filtered some are not. (They are cron job reports or
positive spam and the filter criteria fits to all.)

When I select all messages in the message list, the filter is not working. When
I filter the messages with after CROM or ***SPAM and apply the appropriate
filter or all filters its working fine.

But it was not my intend to do this every day multiple times by hand :-(
If its not fixed soon I will switch to another mail client.

I can confirm this bug partly. On some messages the filter works and they are
move to the right folder other messages stay in the incoming folder.

Starting the filter by hand on selected messages works but only when not all
messages are selected.

Disregard my last: This work around worked until 4.8.2 but it does not work
with 4.8.3

[Bug 289097] error Unable to fetch item from backend when entering IMAP folder

Running KDEPIM 4.8.3 here on openSUSE. This error started to become persistent
recently - I saw it before but usually I could just restart akonadi and I could
enter the folder again. Now, I'm stuck: can't use KMail at all as it simply
doesn't load the Inbox and most other folders.

Moreover, updating doesn't work anymore, it doesn't fetch new mail. I've tried
what I could in the akonadiconsole but no amount of fiddling makes it work. One
thing I notice is that the resource goes in 'off-line' mode all the time. I can
put it on-line but this has no effect and after less than 30 sec it's back to
off-line.

The account in question is a GMail account (disconnected imap) with about 5 gb
of mail, the inbox has about 30K messages, the rest is in folders. As I said,
most folders work, some do not. Found no logic there - some small folders don't
work, other large ones are fine.

The debugger in akonadiconsole doesn't seem to be able to give any meaningful
hints. Upon putting the resource on-line and entering a folder which doesn't
work, I often see something like this:
akonadi_imap_resource_0 (0xee5d30) 336 LSUB 7 0 (RESOURCE
akonadi_imap_resource_0) (STATISTICS true ANCESTORS INF)

akonadi_imap_resource_0 (0xee5d30) 336 OK List completed
AkonadiConsole Browser Widget (0xeeb0f0) 91 NO Unable to fetch item from
backend

The whole thing is very frustrating and timeconsuming (not even talking about
the fact that without KMail I have to use GMail and it is just so much less
efficient at handling large mail volumes). I hope someone can digg in and debug
this... I'd be happy to help, ping me on IRC.

gets mentioned on the earlier report. Thanks for reporting, Shez!

I hope a developer who might know what's going on will find time to address

Bug 299820 at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=299820 has some interesting
information including what looks like a good way to reproduce. Shez suggests a
possible cause might be related to filtering.

It's of course very well possible there are several causes leading to this same
issue :(

I had no imap filters I knew of. Then I looked again and I have a filter named
unknown with no rules. I deleted it, restarted Kontact, and it was back. So I
edited it to be something valid, deactivated it and restarted akonadi. But
nothing has changed.

On another machine I had one rule that never triggered and there everything
works fine.

What is your filter which doesn't work ?

[Bug 299968] Filters aren't applied on incoming mails

2012-05-14 Thread Thomas Arend
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=299968

--- Comment #3 from Thomas Arend tho...@arend-rhb.de ---
Hello, the filter criteria has not changed since years and is very simple.

If X-Cron-Env contains SHELL then move to Folder Cron. Which is the case
in all CRON-Jobs.
Spamassassin Filter: If X-Spam-Flag = Yes then move to Folder Spam.

I get ~20 messages per hour. When I receive them from the mailbox it may be 200
or 400 messages. Sometime 20 oder 30 are not filtered sometimes more sometimes
less.

Yes I have a Log-Viewer put it is not always willing to show up. In the moment
it is very unwilling and not cooperative. :-( Upps now it is up. You have to
be pationed. 8 GB and six cores are not so much power. It can take some minutes
to start. I would like to send you the log file. But the Save as, Clear or
Abort buttons are also not so cooperative. Maybe they will do something in
ten minutes, an hour or two. Or maybe next year? Can you wait? Are the scoll
bars are on holiday?

The filter works on some incoming messages and on some not. It works by hand
under special circumstances. That is selecting not all massages - which I do by
searching for CRON. Applying all filters to all messages Control-A Control-J
does nothing but reports that n of m discussion groups are updated. (I am
using German version so English message may be a bit different.) A lot reports
are 0 von 0 Diskussiongruppen wurden aktualisiert. In some cases n and m are
increased and m is running ahead of n. Why does kamail2 not know at start how
many messages are to filter. I had not figured out, what Diskussionsgruppen
mean. Never defined such things.

Wow. After several minutes. The log-Viewer is running really fast and it seems
that save as works now. You have to be patient. But it hangs in the file
selection dialog. As I mentioned above me PC is not so powerful. Uh, not the
file dialog has closed. But the log viewer is a little bit sleepy.

It had saved the log in kmail-filter.html (1 MByte) - big deal - but now it is
a bit stressed after the work. I thing it has retired. - Uh, it wants to save
the file again but the confirmation window for overwriting the old file is
empty and doesn't react. Upps - after some minutes it shows its question.

Oh! How wonderful now the CRON-Jobs an other messages are moved to the right
folder. After nearly six hours all messages are sorted!

Never saw such a poor program. How was the trick done?

Have a good night.

[Bug 277705] KMail 2 crashes if I want to set the message pane to the right

2012-05-14 Thread Marc Schiffbauer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=277705

--- Comment #6 from Marc Schiffbauer msch...@gentoo.org ---
Confirmed. Disabling nepomuk in systemsettings and killing all nepomuk*
processes make me able to use kmail again (current 4.8 branch).

Thanks for the hint!
