If you could please see if this issue still exists with a current > release of KDE? Feel free to reopen if the issue still arises. This version is not in debian testing and thus not explorable by me. I keep having issues with address books such as "Resource not writable". The problem is solvable by deleting the address book and re-adding it. [Bug 301812] Kmail crashes when writing new mails or answering/forwarding mails
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301812 Ralph Moenchmeyer changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|critical|crash --- Comment #3 from Ralph Moenchmeyer --- I found this workaround in one of Opensuse's forums. http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/476040-re-kmail.html Quote from "Peter": "Using the soprano packages from Index of /repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/SC/openSUSE_12.1 I could manage to get the segfault issues in kmail and gwenview of the KDE 4.8.4 release fixed." I combined KDE 4.8.4 from Opensuse's KDE Release Factory with the soprano RPMs from the Unstable repository. It worked ! Both with the problem of answering mails in Kontact and with starting Kmail from the command line. ( Although the message "kmail2(5266)/kdepimlibs (mailtransport): Could not access Outbox." remains. ) So something seems to be wrong with the soprano RPMs of version. 2.7.6 or its combination with Kmail 4.8.4 in Opensuse's KDE repositories . With the soprano RPMs of version 2.7.56 things are back to normal again. As there is a workaround I changed the severity of the bug to "crash". [Bug 301812] Kmail crashes when writing new mails or answering/forwarding mails
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301812 --- Comment #2 from Ralph Moenchmeyer --- I have to describe the buggy behavior in more detail as it depends on how you work with Kmail. Backtraces refer to different situations. In the situations described below I had deactivated Nepomuk's E-Mail indexer via KDE's system-settings. I describe the situation for Opensuse's Factory version of KDE 4.8.4. Situation 1: ** You normally can start Kontact and switch there to Kmail after having started KDE. I then go to one of my IMAP-Folders, klick on one of my mails and try to reply or forward. Then Kontact just disappears from the screen -- without any KDE crash report. The process for kontact disappears from the process list, too. Situation 2: *** If I then try to start Kmail from the command line Kmail crashes. The shell output is: QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. kmail2(8653)/kdepimlibs (mailtransport): Could not access Outbox. *** KMail got signal 11 (Exiting) *** Dead letters dumped. KCrash: Application 'kmail' crashing... [Bug 301812] New: Kmail crashes when writing new mails or answering/forwarding mails
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301812 Bug ID: 301812 Severity: critical Version: 4.8.4 Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: Kmail crashes when writing new mails or answering/forwarding mails Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: r...@anracon.de Hardware: openSUSE RPMs Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: composer Product: kmail2 Yesterday, I upgraded to KDE 4.8.4 on 2 different Opensuse 12.1 systems (x86_64). I used two different RPM repositories - the Factory repository and the KDE 4.8 Release Repository. Since the upgrade it is no longer possible * to write new mails * to answer to received mails * to forward mails Kmail crashes and disappears from the KDE GUI. It did not help to stop Nepomuk. This makes KMail completely useless. Therefore, I regard this as critical. There were Opensuse forum contributions saying that the KDE 4.8 Release repository is broken. Maybe that is true. However, it appears not very likely that 2 different SUSE repositories are broken. Therefore, I think it is a KDE 4.8.4 inherent bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
