But Prefer HTML is a sensible default for novice end users testing kmail. Most of them will compare kmail to Gmail, Outlook, or Thunderbird, determining if kmail does what they expect it to do. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5694 --- Comment #16 from Bernd Oliver Sünderhauf pancho...@riseup.net --- Hmm, you're right in that I can mark multiple folders in the folder sidebar and then use the Search bar above the messagelist. So high importance is an overstatement. However, the more advanced Find Messages dialog doesn't offer a flexible choice of folders. And as far as I can see, that's what this issue is about. Find messages still only gives me the choice of searching all folders or just a single one. [Bug 307548] kmail2 does not update mail after piping mail throught a script
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307548 --- Comment #3 from Jon Moon jon.m...@cantab.net --- Further to this, I'm seeing the same problem with an 'add header' action in the filter (at least to filters applied before the mail is sent - haven't tried other cases). Having browsed the code a bit and put gdb on akonadi_mailfiter_agent, I'm suspicious that something's going wrong in the execution of the 'Akonadi::ItemModifyJob' that's kicked off in FilterManager::processContextItem. I've stepped through to confirm that the modify job is started and returns success - but the item's still unmodified. The one thing I've not confirmed is that the item is actually modified by the filter (can't immediately see how to check the relevant fields in gdb), but the fact that both filter types are showing the same behaviour makes this seem unlikely. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 223616] Add option to disable formatting in plain-text messages
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=223616 --- Comment #7 from Bernd Oliver Sünderhauf pancho...@riseup.net --- Created attachment 75448 -- https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=75448action=edit Testcase: eml file This is still a wishlist item, rather than a bug, as long as real world testcases, where this otherwise useful (and common) behaviour distorts the message content, can't be fixed appropriately. I prepared a testcase and comparing Thunderbird and Kmail rendering. Firstly, Thunderbird renders *bold*, /italics/ and _underscore_ but doesn't remove the markup. This might be preferable because it ensures no information gets lost, though it is visually less appealing. So if we stick with our way, we need to be 100% on the secure side. In more complex cases, both clients to some extent show inconsistentencies, such as: - the way precendence is handled in multi-formatting, with both browsers showing inconsistencies (why don't we actually render */text/* both italics and bold?) - Thunderbird render /var/log/ in italics, and *foo*bar* in bold while we don't - We render numeric-only expressions in bold/italics/whatever, while Thunderbird doesn't - We render *_foo* bold, but not /*foo* - while Thunderbird does it the other way around. Firstly, I'd propose to making an informed decision whether we want to keep on removing the markup. If yes, then we need to be more careful about potentially incorrect, potentially complex expressions. In any case, multi-format rendering should be at least handled in a consistent way, possibly multi-formatted with the exception of /*foo*/ (which is comment markup), or - the other way around - ignoring multiple formatting altogether. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 310625] New: Deleting account folder deranges folder list
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=310625 Bug ID: 310625 Severity: normal Version: 4.9.3 Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: Deleting account folder deranges folder list Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: pancho...@riseup.net Hardware: Chakra Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: general Product: kmail2 In a configuration with two IMAP accounts (which is probably irrelevant): When I removed an IMAP account folder from the folder list, it deranged the whole folder list, vanishing all account folders (IMAP and local) except for an unnamed item (turning out to be the other IMAP account) and a Notes item. After a few clicks, the Notes item disappeared as well, leaving just the unnamed item in the folder list (see screenshot 1). Can be reproduced again and again with varying results (see screenshot 2). Luckily, either of a restart or a switch between long and short folder list will recreate the folder list correctly. [Bug 310628] New: Don't use arrow icons to show/hide details in the progress indicator
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=310628 Bug ID: 310628 Severity: normal Version: 4.9.3 Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: Don't use arrow icons to show/hide details in the progress indicator Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: pancho...@riseup.net Hardware: Chakra Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: folders Product: kmail2 When synchronizing IMAP folders (probably POP as well, but I don't use that), the progress indicator in the status bar displays an upward arrow. Even if you know that the arrow is a details button, this is disturbing, as an upward arrow is strongly associated with uploading resp. synchronizing up. In some circumstances (e.g. after hitting other bugs making you nervous about your data) this is even more disturbing: you know for sure that there is nothing to synchronize upwards, so you're fearing that kmail/Akonadi might do something with the data on your server that it shouldn't do. Again, knowing doesn't help as our limbic system doesn't care. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: It would be expected that the arrow indicates whether currently data is being synchronized up resp. synchronized down. The progress details button should use a different icon. However, plus and minus wouldn't be better, as these are associated with adding resp. deleting items. The best approach I can come up is a magnifier icon on a snap-in / snap-out button. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 304601] Select folder dialogue shows multiple instances of the same folder

So this might either be unconnected or the bug has been halfway fixed in the meantime. (aside: Interestingly, my inbox is called Posteingang in the file system, but inbox both in Akonadi and kmail. Surely, this is because I installed in German and later switched the application language to English for bug reporting reasons. The fact that the other folders correctly appear as Posteingang (German for: inbox) etc. isn't too surprising. If you take a look at ~/.local/share/local-mail in the filesystem, you will find that Posteingang etc. is indeed their real filesystem name (which is controversial IMHO), while the Mülleimer (German for: trash) is called trash in the filesystem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
