Note that this is still a bug at Microsoft's end. Akonadi does not seem to be
able to handle this gracefully. Thunderbird, on the other hand, just asks me to
retry with a dialog box which usually succeeds eventually.

[kmail2] [Bug 326859] New: Allow users to remove kmail without removing akregator and korganizer

2013-10-29 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326859

Bug ID: 326859
Summary: Allow users to remove kmail without removing akregator
and korganizer
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11.2
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: xintx...@gmail.com

I don't use kmail and would like to purge it on my netbook since I want as much
free space as possible. However I use akregator and korganizer and don't want
to remove them along with kmail but they depend on it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try removing kmail package on Kubuntu:
sudo apt-get purge kmail
Actual Results:
It removes

akregator* kaddressbook* kdepim-kresources* kmail* knotes* kontact*
korganizer* libeventviews4* libincidenceeditorsng4* libkdepim4*
libksieveui4* libmailcommon4* libmailimporter4* libmessagecomposer4*
libmessageviewer4* libpimcommon4* libtemplateparser4*

along with kmail.

Expected Results:
kmail deleted and akregator/korganizer untouched

Could you please attach GDB to the resource, and "catch throw"? This will
interrupt the program when the exception is thrown, so you will be able to get
a full backtrace of where the exception is thrown from.

Steps how to attach GDB to a resource on startup is described here [0], just
replace "knut" with "nepomuktag"

[Akonadi] [Bug 326846] New: DAV resource requests ALL calendar data without a [comp-filter] set

2013-10-29 Thread Ingo Ratsdorf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326846

Bug ID: 326846
Summary: DAV resource requests ALL calendar data without a
[comp-filter] set
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.11
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: DAV Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: i...@envirology.co.nz

You set up a CalDAV resource and wait and wait and wait, .
The calendar server log files show that the DAV resource is requesting ALL
calendar data without a [comp-filter][time-range] set.
This is going to request ALL available VEvent data for all the acessible
calendars, in my case 5 shared calendars with 6 years of data, some 20,000
events
The server will be working for hours.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set up a CalDAV resource
2. wait
3. watch server logs
Actual Results:
Server chokes up, apache2 processes have to be killed, resource deleted again

Expected Results:
A subset of events from each calendar to be requested, ie last 3 months and
fiture events, like other calendar clients do. iPhone works fine with server,
Thunderbird/Lighning works fine, EMClient works fine, even iCal.
Just not KDE DAV.

The dav request the KDE DAV resource is sending to the server:

While I realise that some server may not support [time-range], I also wonder
whether it is wise to request all data and rely on the server to make some
educated guess on whether that would be good or not...
Of course the server could be changed to only return sensible amount of data,
too...

This also describes my own situation after upgrading to kubuntu 13.10. I get it
when moving one or more messages (using kmail).

I have 2 imap connections (virginmedia and msn). Moving a message within
virginmedia does not provoke the crash, but moving a message within msn does!
The only apparent difference is that the msn account has many more messages in
its folders then the virginmedia account.

Also, although akonadi crashes, the message movement does actually take place.

I've deleted and recreated the imap resource within akonadi, but I still get
the crash.

Dang. That conclusion (at 2013-10-29 12:14:41 UTC) was premature. The Akonadi
IMAP Resource is hammering away again. Sorry for the noise!

[Akonadi] [Bug 316840] imap resource starts crazy connect / disconnect cycle to mail server

2013-10-29 Thread Morten Lind
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316840

It seems that requiring my courier daemon to force starttls solves the issue
with hanging connection. In /etc/courier/imapd-ssl I now use
IMAP_TLS_REQUIRED=1, while still running SSL and allowing TLS.

Before, I never saw the following LOGOUT entries in my imap log:

Oct 29 12:54:20  imapd-ssl: LOGOUT, user=, ip=[:::127.0.0.1],
headers=0, body=0, rcvd=13, sent=86, time=0, starttls=1

Now, all LOGIN entries are followed by such LOGOUT entries, and after observing
for some hours without any high-frequency CONNECT-DISCONNECTED entries, I think
I can claim that this solved the problem.

I attempted this inspired by the comment from Guillaume Castagnino 2013-07-30
18:20:36 UTC. However, as indicated by Ariel Garcia 2013-09-13 20:09:24 UTC,
this only solves the problem for IMAP-servers under our own control.

[kmail2] [Bug 326817] New: kmail message list missing messages

2013-10-29 Thread Fabio Coatti
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326817

Bug ID: 326817
Summary: kmail message list missing messages
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11.2
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: fabio.coa...@gmail.com

I have several folders related to a remote server (imap offline); when I start
kmail the inbox message list shows all messages, but if I click on another
folder (that in my case has more than 10.000 messages, called archive) it shows
only the last (most recent) 3/4 messages.
Note: all messages are also stored locally.
If I shut down kmail and restart it, kmail shows the complete message list (the
last folder is shown at startup, in this case the archive folder that was
showing only the latest messages).
It is quite repeatable: basically I enter kde, enter kmail and switch to
"archive" folder, i get only few messages. Close kmail, restart it... and all
messages appears magically.

Reproducible: Always

Gentoo packages
kde 4.11.2
gcc 4.8.1
qt 4.8.5
linux x86_64 3.11.6

My fault. Till please also upgrade to kdepim-common-libs-4.11.2-r1. I applied
the patch in the wrong part of our split kdepim; it got happily applied but
never compiled.

(side note, if you need help in splitting kdepim into different repositories,
have a look at our ebuilds :)
