[kmail2] [Bug 330108] New: losing mail when copy/move it between IMAP accounts

2014-01-17 Thread torte
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330108

Bug ID: 330108
Summary: losing mail when copy/move it between IMAP accounts
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.12
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: commands and actions
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: to...@tortenboxer.de

When I try to move or copy (easier for testing) a mail from one IMAP account to
another the mail is lost or kmail is no longer able to open it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Choose a mail in an IMAP folder and copy it to another IMAP account.
Actual Results:
An error message "unknown systemflag" pops up. The new message is displayed but
when I try to open it, it disapears (mostly) or the message is not readable.
Using a web login does not show a message at any step of the process.

Expected Results:
The message is displayed corret in the second IMAP folder as well.

I am using kde 4.12.1.
This happens only using some providers for example gmx/web.
Copying a draft from local folder works in all cases. Copying a mail from IMAP
to local folder works, but copying to the second IMAP account also fails.
(I am not really sure this is related to kmail, maybe akonadi?)

[Akonadi] [Bug 330010] KDEPIM .desktop file parser considers invalid the strings containing commas

2014-01-17 Thread Alexander Potashev
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330010

Dan,
Let's hope there are no languages in which there should be no space after a
comma. According to the current .desktop files for Akonadi agents, it is so for
the languages we already have translations to.

Oups, now akonadi spams to the console it was started from:
akonadi_maildispatcher_agent(4497)/libakonadi: Resource id's don't match:
"akonadi_maildir_resource_1" "akonadi_maildir_resource_0"

I assume that is a different bug? I am unsure what exactly the cause is, since
everything seems to have been screwed up before already...

That was the issue. Deleting the Local Folder from AkonadiConsole (which made
Akonadi automatically create a new maildir resource immediately), worked around
the problem.

I hope this is enough information to track down the problem. within Akonadi
and/or Kontact.

So it appears that it does not create the trash folder in the IMAP resource as

P.P.S: I have setup my Dovecot 2.2 server to automatically create and subscribe
to that folder:
  mailbox trash {
special_use = \Trash
auto = subscribe
  }

Thus I cannot actually delete it. Maybe this is what creates a hickup within
Kontact/Akonadi.

P.S: On the last boot I deleted the folder "trash" from the ${IMAP_HOST2}
account. I then immediately tried to create it again, but Kontact did not let
me, claiming a resource/folder of that name already exists. I was able to
create the folder after restarting Kontact.

The error message now is:

longer possible.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start knotes

2014-01-17 Thread piedro

@andrew:
this is a bit frustrating ... thunderbird on the other hand is not integrated
very well ... and sucks at other tasks imho (rewriting imapfolder names on
servers e.g.) ... but you are right on virtual folders and searching: that is
done really nicely and very reliable ... maybe it would be a good idea to take
a look at the concepts behind that - it's open source after all, Kde team could
learn something here ... but I guess most people want to create things their
own way for the fun of it (and they have every right to do so) ... I guess I
simply have to accept that there is still no good PIM solution in KDE (same
applies for gnome and the other environments ... maybe be the elementary
concept of well integrated, lightweight single-task applications that
interconnect in an intelligent way is the most promising at the moment ...)

Thing is: I like the idea behind Kontact! But the Kontact shell is kind of
decaying:
- ktimetracker (such a nice application to integrate with kjournal and
korganizer!) had to be removed ...
- knotes and kjots seem to not improve anymore and are less powerful than any
other stand alone application out there
- korganizer seems to be quite good but without a good way to browse through
past events like all appointments with Peter Pan for the last two years it's
hard to use it productively
- same for kjournal

...and so forth: Quo vadis KPIM?

cya, piedro

still it is so sad :-(

btw: I wrote korganizer shows search folders - I meant kjots (which I doubt
very much to be a reasonable candidate for the default note taking ... why not
work on basket, a tomboy or zim port (there are many more promising projects)
instead of holding onto kjots which isn't actively developed afaik ...

just my feew cents,
piedro

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330094

Bug ID: 330094
Summary: templates don't work with %signature
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.12
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: rhav...@rhavenn.net

Arch Linux 64 with KDE 4.12.1
Similar to bug 324229 (comment at the bottom for this issue)

Starting with KDE 4.12 if you use %SIGNATURE in the templates for Reply /
Reply-All the signature will be inserted, but the email will be empty
otherwise. Also, it gets stuck in "Rich Text" mode.

The "signature" is defined in my default identity as "use field below" and is
"plain text". I have a divider in it. My sig field is:

henrik
--
Full Name
Company
Email
Phone

If I use the "automatically insert signature" option it does insert it, but the
cursor is always at the end of the signature vs. at the start of the email.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set a plain text signature in your identity.
2. enable the %SIGNATURE option in the standard templates.
3. reply or reply-all to an email.
Actual Results:
Clears the email.

Expected Results:
%CURSOR would work, insert the signature and include the original body of the
email.

@piedro, yes, as far as nobody from KDE team use kmail, we'll still be using
thunderbird. I try kmail every KDE release :) With last one kmail has found 70
messages while thunderbird has found 700 messages from the same archive..

[kmail2] [Bug 282891] searching is severely broken (contains multiple reports)

2014-01-17 Thread piedro
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=282891

I don't want to start a new thread, so I put my problems in here.

My Kde on Arch (fully upgraded) is the very new version 4.12.1. Still searching
emails has so many problems for me, that it is completely unusable, which is a
shame and I feel there are some regressions even. I will give a list of the
issues that won't work for me (anymore):

- first problem is that any search I saved creates a kind of virtual folder,
which is exactly as intended I guess, but after this folder is created it
doesn't offer any possibility to modify it (say refine my search folder
afterwards by adding more search conditions) - this behaviour makes the idea of
search folders very clumsy to use and I can't imagine this is intended ... the
same problem applies when searching for one criteria and then adding another
one after the search has finished ("only ressource modifiers can change..." -
error message)

- the search folder from kmail also shows up in kaddressbook and korganizer
which doesn't make sense at all (I haven't tested what happens to searches in
kaddressbook but I guess those show up then in kmail also ...) - I think this
is very annoying and quite a show stopper for using search folders at all...
I think the search should also save the kind of object it' looking for and a
filter should make sure that kmail only shows searches with email objects as
kaddressbook only shows searches containing address objects and so forth ...

- the dialog for searching mails in selected folders should also offer a tick
box saying "search recursivly" or "search in subfolders of selected folders" as
the dialog for selecting only one folder offers already.
It is very unconvenient to select all the subfolders tick by tick when you are
using many postboxes with many email addresses (and some subfolders
hierarchies). Also a "select all" or " unselect all" possibilty would be a
great enhancement here ...

- sometimes a search folder simply refuses to be deleted (I have no idea under
what condition this happens) - using "delete folder" doesn't give any error
message but leaves the folder in place ... after restarting kmail it sometimes
can be deleted again or it can't in other cases ... very confusing ...

- searching for "peter.pan@" to catch all email of Peter Pan should give the
same results when searching in "message header", "full message" or using the
three conditions "from", "to" or "copy to" (given that the search term actually
only appears in the "to", "from" or "copy to" lines of the messages in
question). For me this is not the case: I might get less hits with a full
message search than with a header search. the system settings show that email
indexing is done the full 100%. If this is due to uncomplete indexing of any
kind there should be a warning messgae saying: plz wait for indexing to
complete to get accurate results. In the current state it's irritating because
you can't trust any search. On the other hand we all know: you simply can't
easily catch Peter Pan...

Sorry for long text but I think these search issues are still very important
for using kmail productively,
thx for reading and all your efforts, kmail2 has come a long way since the
somewhat messy start ...

Summary: Kaddressbook - drag 'n drop and selection for groups
Classification: Unclassified

Do i have to enter manually ALL of my contacts in different groups ?

What a user expect is: 1.select contacts, create group from selected, import
contacts to group
2. create group, click several contacts, import, 3. click contact, drag to or
from group.
Plus show and filter by groups and categorys.

Now i am thinking of throwing Kontact out of the door. Its a great piece of
software, but that behaviour is complete unacceptable. I have customers with
hundreds of contacts, organized in groups and categories - can i switch them to
Kontact ? no.

[Akonadi] [Bug 330081] New: akonadi_davgroupware_resource has problems with server authentication

2014-01-17 Thread Sven Wehner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330081

Bug ID: 330081
Summary: akonadi_davgroupware_resource has problems with server
authentication
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.11
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: DAV Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: s...@atelophobia.de

>From time to time a mysterious "Server Authentication - [name] of type DAV
groupware resource" dialog pops up. The message is as follows:
--- snip ---
The server failed the authenticity check ([server url]).
The certificate authority's certificate is invalid
The root certificate authority's certificate is not trusted for this purpose
The certificate cannot be verified for internal reasons
--- snap ---
If I browse to the URL using Konqueror, KDE seems to trust the certificate.

I'm not sure when and why this happens (I think it comes from an instable IPv6
connection). But when it appears, I try to find out why it failed. So I use the
"Details" button. This opens a new "KDE SSL Information" dialog, which has only
a single button ("Close"). When I press the close button, the akonadi seems to
accept the certificate. So there is no way to decline (accept?) the
certificate.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Expected Results:
If the user asks for details, show dialog on top of other dialog. So the user
could cancel authentication when the certificate is the wrong one.

Think this bug came from that akonadi-kde-resource-googledata wasn't installed
by default in my system. After I installed akonadi-kde-resource-googledata, the
authorization worked.

[Akonadi] [Bug 330010] KDEPIM .desktop file parser considers invalid the strings containing commas

Git commit f28b675e7361b96c32a136c7eda7e4ef864eb432 by Dan Vrátil.
Committed on 17/01/2014 at 14:06.
Pushed by dvratil into branch '1.11'.

Fix parsing of .desktop files entries with comma in value

We are using QSettings to parse .desktop files. QSettings however treats
a value with comma as a QStringList which is not compatible with KConfig's
behavior, because KConfig treats everything as a string by default.

This patch adds a small workaround for this QSettings behaviour and joins
the list back to a single string when a string value is expected.

For translators this means that Comment entries in Akonadi agents' .desktop
files don't have to be enclosed in double quotes anymore.

Hi there, this bug is still present in kmail2 v. 4.12.0. Is it possible to
address it? I note that the UseNepomuk=true line has disappeared from my
kpimcompletionorder, but I still get address suggestions, implying this is now
default behaviour, but strings aren't properly wrapped in quotes still.

The addresses are cleared from kmail2rc when I stop Kontact, and on restarting,
indeed the addresses no longer appear in a To field.

[kmail2] [Bug 330057] New: Unable to fully clear recent addresses

2014-01-17 Thread Graeme Hewson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330057

Bug ID: 330057
Summary: Unable to fully clear recent addresses
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.12
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: b...@wormhole.me.uk

I can clear the list of recent addresses by secondary-clicking in the To field
of a new message, selecting Edit Recent Addresses and removing the addresses.
Alternatively, Settings/Configure/Composer → Edit Recent Addresses.

However, if I enter a character in the To field, I'm still shown a list of
recent addresses. These addresses are in .kde/share/config/kmail2rc.
