Could you verify in kmail->settings->account->other action => it will open
newmailnotifier settings
=> go to folder to see what is selected as folder.

We use same settings for notify and show value

Or kmail->settings->appeareance -> systemtray-> "show unread mail in systray"
settings

[kmail2] [Bug 330524] New: kontact process does not end after shutdown contact (kmail, knode, contacts and calendar)

2014-01-28 Thread Russ Fineman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330524

Bug ID: 330524
Summary: kontact process does not end after shutdown contact
(kmail, knode, contacts and calendar)
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.12.1
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major

Kontact process does not end. If you shutdown system and later reboot Kontact
will not start agin until you mannual go in (I use KsysGuard and end process.
Then you can restart contact and it application (kmail, contacts, calendar and
knode in my case. Always occurs if you logout, restart or power off the system.
Note : Found bug that was closed in 2011 that discribed this failure exactly.
did another search to find it and get the number, but I cannot find it.

This was working with KDE 4.12.0. started after update to 4.12.1.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. shutdown knotact after use of kmail, calendar, knode or contacts. Window
closes.
2. check with KsysGuard, Kontact process still running.
3. I do not end process and do normail shutdown, restart or logout. Kontact
will not start when you come up again. Desktop, etc comes up Ok. If you then go
into KsysGyuard and kill the Kontact process, and then start Kontact it wil
start.
4. If you kill kontact before shutting down, etc then Kontact starts when you
come up again.

No errors in log I can find.
Actual Results:
Have to manually kill thekontact process before leaving system or after system
comes up and the start Kontact.

Expected Results:
expect Kontact to start after powerdown, restart or logout.

I would disagree, since there is already a properties page for every single
folder in kmail where other properties can be set individually!

So your pos of it's not easy for users to know that there is a global and a
folder setting is simply ludicrous!

Why not push an email to the entire community and see what everyone else has to
say about it especially since each folder already has it's own separate
properties page that can be set differently then what is set in the global
properties!?

I will not add this feature because it's not easy for user to understand that
there is a global settings and a local, and he will not understand that it
changes global but it doesn't change local.
For me a global settings is enough.

Hi,

Running the unit tests for kdepim 4.11.5 I got a test_verify error:
(process:32554): GLib-ERROR **: Creating pipes for GWakeup: Too many open files

Running the same test attached to a strace makes the test to PASS so, I guess
it's a timing issue.
I tried to follow the code but frankly I'm not sure where this error is comming
from, is it the qt main loop?

Reproducible: Sometimes
