[kmail2] [Bug 334469] New: Long emails with lots of quoted text makes the UI unresponsive
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334469 Bug ID: 334469 Summary: Long emails with lots of quoted text makes the UI unresponsive Classification: Unclassified Product: kmail2 Version: 4.13 Platform: Kubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: grave Priority: NOR Component: composer Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: francoisprun...@hotmail.com When replying to a long email with lots of messages back and forth between me and the recepient, the emails is long and the composer window freezes for a long time before I can actually edit anything, the CPU is 100% on one core. You need to painfully remove some of the replied to text to make it shorter and then it becomes usable again. This makes kmail unusable for me at work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Pick a long email to reply to 2. Hit reply 3. Wait a few minutes before you can actually edit Actual Results: You need to aait a few minutes before you can actually edit. The only trick that make it usable again is to chop off the end of the email to make it shorter. Then it becomes responsive again. Expected Results: The wait before editing a reply to a long email should be a few seconds. That happens on the latest ubuntu and the one before that as well. I'm pretty sure it was happening on kmail 4.12 and 4.11. I use kmail inside kontact. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334477 Daniel Boff changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME --- Comment #1 from Daniel Boff --- Nevermind, I tried a lot of different stuff before writing this bugreport. I checked the source code of pinentry and found out that it probably isn't related to this application or kmail. So, I thought it just might be a library / symlink problem with my distribution and found that oxygen.so was present in /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/styles but not in /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/styles After copying the library the style of pinentry-qt4 is correct - I'll file a bugreport in the archlinux bugtracker -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

I've tried to follow your advice, but there is no > LibKGAPI2 in kdebugdialog =( jiust only LibKGAPI. > I enabled this one and it didn't help me =( Daniel, I'm sorry, I didn't understand you correctly at the first time =( So, I have a libkgapi 2.1.1-1 (KDE 4.13, ArchLinux) For debugging I had to enable "akonadi_googlecalendar_resource_2", not "LibKGAPI2 (raw data)". So, I can provide you more detail information in the attach. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328625 --- Comment #8 from m.eik michalke --- > Please let me know whether this fixes your problem, and let me know if it > doesn't. yes, it works! thanks a lot!!! here's what i did: * i added your patch to the ubuntu package sources for kdepim-runtime 4.13.0 * rebuilt the package and replaced the installed one * stopped kmail and akonadi * added the new config option * started kmail -- and everything was back to normal again :-) > The patch will be part of the 4.13.1 release. it should probably be backported to the stock packages, too. you made my day! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
