I looked at in code and it can replace existing password.
Perhaps you can try to remove in kwallet this entry, try migration and look at
if you have still bug or not.
For the moment I don't see the problem.

> But why you still have same identifier + password in kwallet ?

One of two reasons:
* It's still in there from before, when kmail was reading the password from
kwallet correctly.
* kmail migrated it into kwallet, but on next complete restart complained about
a missing password, asks for it, stores it into mailtransports, then asks
whether to migrate it, and round we go.

I will investigate in this direction.

Thanks for giving me an new way to investigate.

2014-11-04 Thread Volker Kuhlmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261559

--- Comment #29 from Volker Kuhlmann  ---
Thanks Laurent! I can confirm that kmail reads some passwords from kwallet for
sending, but not others.

This one is NOT read from kwallet, although it is stored in the wallet
(searching for the transport number):
[Transport 113691]
auth=true
authtype=1
encryption=TLS
host=mail.gmx.net
id=113691
name=GMX ...
password=... (!!)
storepass=true
user=

Migrating it will cause kmail to start prompting for a missing password. (Does
the migration fail if a password is already stored, same password or not same?)

The password for this one is loaded correctly from kwallet:
[Transport 12163]
auth=true
authtype=1
encryption=TLS
host=net.nz
id=12163
name=...
port=587
storepass=true
user=...

Other than the port number I don't see a difference for the two entries.

[Akonadi] [Bug 283682] KMail duplicates filtered messages

2014-11-04 Thread Tobias Leupold
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283682

--- Comment #109 from Tobias Leupold  ---
No harm meant :-) But I think there's a general filtering problem since KMail
uses Akonadi. I have e. g. been using bogofilter since ever to filter my mails,
and since the last few versions, some of my mails are piped through it, some
are not.

I really don't want to start a discussion, as that has been done 1000 times
elsewhere and this is not the right place to do so. But KMail before Akonadi
has simply been rock solid and by far more reliable. These days, it's really
hard (at least for me) to still stick to KMail with all the problems, esp. with
this filtering issue which is really a PITA.

The problem is that there are so many components involved in KMail that it's
almost impossible to describe a problem with a reproducible scenario. Sometimes
it all works, most of the time it doesn't. And I have no idea how to debug it.
And all you get is "for me it works" ...

If you look at the history, you see we care about it and use it. Unfortunately
I have no real time for KMail these days, and for me it works. Both for POP3

hard to do anything without spending a lot of time on it,

I'm not completely sure if the KMail guys really use KMail themselves :-P

Even if we have two causes for the problem, it's still the right place here as
the bug's name is "KMail duplicates filtered messages" – and that's what
happens, no matter if it's caused by some Akonadi/Baloo/Whatever black hole or
something different.

I don't think they are being duplicated physically. you might need to try once
and make sure everything using akonadi is closed first before purging
tables/database.
You will also need to clear the baloo database too to avoid double indexing.
But this is all just messy. I wonder why no one is investigating this
thoroughly...

[kmail2] [Bug 340625] New: imap parent folder properties regression (git/4.14)

2014-11-04 Thread RJVB
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340625

Bug ID: 340625
   Summary: imap parent folder properties regression (git/4.14)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: rjvber...@gmail.com

Until recently it was possible to set certain properties (retrieve frequency)
of a collection of IMAP folders by editing the properties of the parent folder,
be it the account entry in the folder list, or a parent folder like "[Google
Mail]".
It seems that this is still possible for "regular" folders (like the "Devel"
folder under which I have gmail store folders for KDE, MacPorts etc.
mailinglists), but it no longer is for "[Google Mail]" or the account entry.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right-click an entry in the mailbox folder
2. Select the properties action

Actual Results:
The action has been deactivated for the "account folder" as well as for
"[Google Mail]", among other actions.

Expected Results:
It should be possible to set at least certain properties on those folders too,
like the retrieval interval. After all the folders directly underneath (Inbox,
"All Mail" etc) do have the option to use their parent folder's property for
those settings. Because of that I'm marking this a major issue.

I discovered this when I wanted to deactivate indexing for several folders at
once, tired of having to wait for a folder sync each time I want to change that
folder's properties. I'd deactivate email indexing altogether as used to be
possible in the nepomuk days, but apparently we no longer have that choice...

[Akonadi] [Bug 340614] assertion failure in KIMAP::ImapInterval::setBegin

2014-11-04 Thread RJVB
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340614

--- Comment #12 from RJVB  ---
I'm not really familiar with IMAP UIDs, but what I gather from the original
commit message is that they're not necessarily related to the actual number of
messages in a folder.

Indeed, it's quite suspicious that the error didn't show every time, and that
merits someone having a look to understand why, IMHO (I just don't have the
resources right now myself). The only logical explanation I see is that somehow
the endpoint didn't get set in cases where the assert didn't fail. That could
have been by design, but then the question becomes why I got the abort on
something that's not supposed to be an exchange server!

> GMail imap account, which AFAIK no longer provides Exchange features?

The codepath is not exchange specific, it's just that the chunking is not
actually used if it's not exchange (one large chunk). It would still hit the
error after the first chunk though. The only thing that is a bit strange is
that the error should be hit every time, meaning it should have shown up during
testing?

PS: wouldn't it be of interest to know why this issue was triggered on a GMail

2014-11-04 Thread Christian Mollekopf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340622

--- Comment #2 from Christian Mollekopf  ---
"In theory, UID ranges work nicely but in practice, they only work if you don't
delete emails."

"You can still use them as the server is required to ignore any UIDs not
present at the server. I.e. you delete five adjacent e-mails with UID 123, 160,
177, 190 and 205, you can do that via 123:205. Yes, doing this requires extra
intelligence at a "wrong" layer, so there are not that many benefits in doing
it."

=> We can probably compress the ranges even more if we know that certain uid's
are not available on the server.

Yes, I was beaten to it (or would have been if this were a race).

In a RR I'd have pointed out that it isn't necessary to use a temp. variable,
and that the 1st comment is a little off now, but the purpose is clear. Or so
it is when you take the trouble of digging up the original commit message ...

[Akonadi] [Bug 340622] New: IMAP Requests should be split if they get too large

2014-11-04 Thread Christian Mollekopf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340622

Bug ID: 340622
   Summary: IMAP Requests should be split if they get too large
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: GIT (master)
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: chrig...@fastmail.fm
  Reporter: mollek...@kolabsys.com
CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, vkra...@kde.org

Useful information by Jan Kundrat:

"A client should limit the length of the command lines it generates to
approximately 1000 octets (including all quoted strings but not including
literals). If the client is unable to group things into ranges so that the
command line is within that length, it should split the request into multiple
commands." -- http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2683#section-3.2.1.5

This got recently upgraded on QRESYNC-compliant servers to read: "a client
should limit the length of the command lines it generates to approximately 8192
octets (including all quoted strings but not including literals)"
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7162#section-4

As a random data point, Trojita doesn't attempt to do these bits. At the same
time, we do use the UID ranges pretty heavily, so that the numbers often go out
as e.g. 100:200."

As a first step we could ensure that intervals are always compressed. This
doesn't always happen as we can i.e. see in BUG 332323 for UID STORE \Deleted
(mass message removal).
