[kmail2] [Bug 354400] In Kmail 5.0.2 autocompletion only shows recent email addresses but not stored emails in Kaddressbook

2016-06-29 Thread Donovan Hoare via KDE Bugzilla

Guys if your reading this, you will notice that the problem has been
around for ages.
With no planned fix in site.

Switch to Thunderbird.
There is far less problems.

I actually only find one thing annoying and that is wen you send an
email it stays in the forground until its complete.
Ill live with that to have contacts

Also when that happens I can see that the email account is hanging "syncing"
some of the folders at 97% and not changing.

I have another IMAP account, also hosted on GMail, and the problem does not
appear with it. It has much less messages in it though.

Can confirm same issue on Fedora-24; images (external or attached) that
appeared in my mail prior to updating to F24 no longer appear.

Laurent... perhaps this error (going to STDERR) has something to do with it ...

couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:\nklauncher said: Unknown
protocol 'cid'.\n"

Doesn't go to my .xsession-error logs, but if I start kmail from a konsole
window I get that error on each message that has an inline image attachment.

[kmail2] [Bug 364903] New: Certain search terms do not work, such as 'equals' and 'does not contain'

2016-06-29 Thread Michael Mol via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364903

Bug ID: 364903
Summary: Certain search terms do not work, such as 'equals' and
'does not contain'
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: search
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: mike...@gmail.com
CC: m...@vhanda.in

(Using Kontact Version 4.14.10, but the issue is not new to that version)

If I go to "Find Messages" and specify a search criteria of "Subject" "does not
contain" "some string", my result set contains *only* results that contain
"some string"

Let's say I have a message with a subject of "[Backups 0017611]: somehost -
Backup - 43251 - OK"

If I search for "Subject" "does not contain" "Backups", that message will
appear in my result set. Likewise, if I search for "Subject" "equals"
"Backups", that message will appear in my result set.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have a message with a subject of "[Backups 0017611]: somehost - Backup -
43251 - OK"
2. search for "Subject" "does not contain" "Backups", that message will appear
in my result set.
3. search for "Subject" "equals"Backups", that message will appear in my result
set.

Actual Results:
"[Backups 0017611]: somehost - Backup - 43251 - OK" appears in result set

Expected Results:
"[Backups 0017611]: somehost - Backup - 43251 - OK" should not appear in result
set.

The lack of these search mechanisms makes searching my mail very difficult...

It looks like non-alphanumeric characters get stripped from the search. I
notice that "[" also gets omitted from my search terms.

Struggling with this bug a week now after fresh installation of Kubuntu
16.04LTS.
I tried all options as suggested in various comments above with no result.

libkf5akonadisearch-bin is installed.

Still the bug is there:
- recent addresses works only after Type in TO field --->Delete it ---> Type
again
- addresses from other sources like Google not working
