Are you sure ?
I confirm that [http://www.example.org/][whatever] works fine as I fixed it
long time ago. And there is a autotest in kcoreaddons for it.

Unfortunately I was just surprised by a mail loss as well :-(

Some observations from before I closed kmail and stopped akonadi:
- using pop3 to fetch mail (I am not using imap with kmail), local storage is
maildir
- just upgraded to kde-apps 16.12.1 and frameworks 5-30 recently
- never happened with older kmail / akonadi versions, e.g. 16.12.0
- it also happened when clicking on (older) mails in a folder, not only when
changing folders
- both folders where I could observe mails disapearing were inboxes (for
different accounts) - but I did not try any other folders
- using a current gentoo install (~amd64)

I have a IMAP folder with 6000+ emails (Gmail). When I delete emails from Gmail
web, and sync on KMail, deleted emails are still there. Refreshing folder

In KMail 5.4.1, the example URLs given in Comment 0 are still parsed as one URL
with an opening angle bracket. The closing angle bracket is not parsed as part
of the URL.

I experienced this too, around version 5.3.0, I think. However, it is fixed for
me now. Do you still experience this, in a reasonably recent version? I'm

Flavio, the version 4.14.2 you reported this for is now very old and long
unsupported. Do you still experience this in a more recent, Frameworks-based
version of KMail (5.0 or later a.k.a. 15.08.0 or later)? It doesn't seem
particularly slow for me using KMail 5.4.1. Maybe this is because I use a KMail
where the message viewer is QtWebEngine-based (5.3.0 or later a.k.a. 16.08.0 or
later).

When switching to a folder from another kmail deletes, not moves to trash,
emails as though I were holding down the delete key. 

These are all emails downloaded with POP. I do not know if IMAP folders would
also be effected (I was not able to reproduce when switching to folders with
messages from an IMAP account, but maybe I just got lucky.) 

Reproducible: sometimes (but it has happened already three times today, twice
after an update). 


I have noticed is that it happens when I switch folders (including to the
inbox). Sometimes it continues deleting if I switch to another folder,
sometimes it stops, that is sometimes it does not continue deleting after
switching. Quiting kmail seems to make it stop, at least emails that had not
been deleted are still there upon restart. I have not kept kmail open long
enough to see if the process will stop after some time.

This also seems to coincide with an uptick in the incidence of the akonadi
hanging with  "Retrieving folder contents ...  please wait", necessitating an
'akonadictl restart' as mentioned here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297930 . For a while this latter problem
had been better, and today it has become more frequent again.



For what it is worth: Here is terminal output for kmail, the collections named
in the output were all effected:

Confirmed. I marked a read message to unread in K9 Mail, and tried to convince
KMail of the updated state by reloading the folder, restarting Kontact,
akonadictl restart. K9 Mail as well as the webmailer still show it as unread,
so the state wasn't reset automatically to read by Akonadi.

Even if I move the mail to another folder in KMail, it still shows the message
as read, while K9 Mail and the webmailer show it as unread.

KDE Applications 16.12.1, Frameworks 5.30.

When an email status changes from read to unread on the server side, this
status change is never applied to akonadi storage (i.e., the mail is still in
read status). 

I have done a manual folder update (f5) and restarted akonadi, but both action
did have no effect. 

I have checked this in akonadiconsole (mail is still flagged "\SEEN"). Thus
this is not a kmail bug. 

The bug was tested and reproduced on three different akonadi installations
(gentoo) with the same imap server. The status gets synced correctly with other
mail clients such as thunderbird and k9-mail. The bug is always reproducible.

Set KAboutData so that DrKonqi can report bugs

KCrash reads bug submission address from KAboutData, so we need to
set it, otherwise it's not possible to upload backtraces from DrKonqi
when crash happens. This is onl for akonadiserver, akonadi_control and
akonadictl.

Deleting a mail move it to the local trash folder, whatever is configured in
the settings. It's not possible to move deleted mails to the IMAP trash folder.
Move manually works as expected.

When I right click a folder and chose "Folder properties", I want to untick the

Sorry, I'm still using the same version of kmail. I can say I managed to solve
this particular problem after I cleaned some of the configuration files
(akonadi's and/or kmail's) and recreated them. I cannot remember the details,
though, like which files I had to recreate, since that was almost a year ago. I
can only tell for sure that the problem was unrelated to the postfix changes I
mentioned in my previous message, and that it has not happened again.
