Reported for version 5.2.3 in Bug 366178.

This is probably related with Bug 340014, which has also been reported for
versions up to 5.2.3, and also crashes on access to the d-pointer of a
KMSystemTray object. I'm not sure enough to mark this as duplicate of the other
though.

Actually, this bug was reported for much more recent versions, although the way
to trigger it is not the same.

I think I have a rough idea what happened: When a new KMail instance is
created, its KMSystemTray is created as a copy from another KMSystemTray. This
class has a raw d-pointer, but no copy control. Now when one of the instances
is destroyed, the other has a dangling d-pointer.

That's just an educated guess, though. I'm still very confused by the gigantic
pim codebase, so I might have missed several important details.

The duplicate bug 375330 was reported for 5.2.3.

No tag search in 5.4.1. The quicksearch bar (for filtering) lost the ability to

If I understand this wish correctly, you'd like to see a small avatar in each
message line of the message viewer that is associated with the sender of that
message, and a way to place this avatar in the message list theme editor in
"Settings -> Configure KMail... -> Appearance -> Message list -> Default theme
-> Configure...", right?

According to Bug 362467, this bug also affects printing font. No, wait, it
doesn't. Wait... setting the printing font doesn't work either!

Bug 350855, Comment 2:

Confirmed for 5.4.1. I changed the font for "Message Body" to Hack, size 13.
Preview as well as message viewer window were quite unimpressed. Just as
reported, restart didn't help either. In contrast to Bug 350855, Comment 1,
however, I didn't notice any changes in headers. The settings simply have no
effect at all.

Other than "Message Body", all the other options in the "Apply to" field didn't
change anything either, except for "Composer". The font for "Composer" is
applied to some header fields in the composer (From, Subject), but not all
(To). The message body in the composer is unaffected, too.

Bug 350855, Comment 3:

Sorry! I, too, missed a detail: I chose *bold* text for unread messages in the
message list. The font and size are still not applied to messages in the
message list, but unread messages are displayed bold.

The option now reads "Use options from parent folder or account", so it should
be quite clear how to apply settings to all top-level folders. From the
wording, we can tell that this is an intended change instead of a major
regression. Actually, this was never major, as there has always been a
relatively obvious way to work around it (by configuring the account itself).

The fact that the context menu of accounts in the folder list does not have an
entry to configure that account might very well be considered as a UX bug. The
regression reported here, however, is now clarified by wording.

I close this as fixed. Feel free to disagree.

Sorry! I, too, missed a detail: I chose *bold* text for unread messages in the
message list. The font and size are still not applied to messages in the
message list, but unread messages are displayed bold.

Confirmed for 5.4.1. I changed the font for "Message Body" to Hack, size 13.
Preview as well as message viewer window were quite unimpressed. Just as
reported, restart didn't help either. In contrast to Comment 1, however, I
didn't notice any changes in headers. The settings simply have no effect at
all.

Other than "Message Body", all the other options in the "Apply to" field didn't
change anything either, except for "Composer". The font for "Composer" is
applied to some header fields in the composer (From, Subject), but not all
(To). The message body in the composer is unaffected, too.

Have the same problems and help myself with folloWING SOLUTION (which seems to
work quit often:
 rm -rf ~/.local/share/akonadi/socket*
 rm -rf /tmp/akonadi*
and a restart of kmail

After some investigation it appears that the problem is not quite as bad as it
first appears. It seems kmail is not deleting the email but moving them, in my
case to a folder that holds email from a high traffic email list. It took a
while to notice since I don't check that folder often, and since the emails
moved had already been read the 'unread' count for the list folder did not
change. (I did in fact lose some emails since that folder has an expiry date,
and some of the messages moved were older).

Switching folders is not the trigger. Just switching emails in the same folder
is enough for the move to start. Sometimes only about 10 emails are moved. But
after switching from message to message, and having 10 or so messages moved,
the process finally just moved every message in the folder.

Another thing I have noticed is that automatic filtering no longer works.
Messages that should be moved to other folders whenever I check mail are not
moved, but stay in the inbox. Applying filters manually moves messages.

I tried killing the `akonadi-mailfilter-agent' process while messages were
being moved, and that did not stop the move.

Since data is not being deleting, but email do not stay where they should, it
seems a severity of 'major' is now more appropriate.

The description, that akonadi crashes if you delete an email is true, but it
crashes randomly, independently from what you do. Click an email, it may crash
or not; go to another account, same. See this bug report:

Akonadi stopped working with update to 16.12 and this is more than an month
ago.
