Can you try the following:

- open kmail
- then click on an email address (mailto:)

does it still crash then?

When kmail is open (using 'system tray' option as workaround), this is working
for me.
When kmail is closed, it also fails for me.
But the workaround is working for me

Please write in English, thank you.
Can you please:

 - send the configuration you are using.
 - open kmail from console and send the output of the console after sending the
email.
 - open (or install first) akonadi console, go to "logging" and enable it. Once
enabled, send a new mail. Once mail was sent (or not sent), stop the logging
and selected save to file, and attach it.

[kontact] [Bug 405220] Kontact crashes on opening attachment when mail becomes inactive

2019-03-08 Thread Mykola Krachkovsky
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405220

PS
It's mandatory to have newly selected mail on step 1, as if currently opened
mail doesn't change all goes ok and as expected.
PS2
I'm usually using Kontact, but this behaviour is reproduced on pure KMail as
well.

[kmail2] [Bug 405224] New: KMail/Kontact mail list refreshed on (de)activation

2019-03-08 Thread Mykola Krachkovsky
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405224

Bug ID: 405224
Summary: KMail/Kontact mail list refreshed on (de)activation
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: w01dn...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Each time main KMail/Kontact window is activated or deactivated its mail list
is refreshed and currently selected mail is lost.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open some mail directory (and keep in mind which mail was selected).
2. Select one or other mail (not the same which was selected on directory
switch).
3. Switch to another app, for example Alt+F2 (Alt+Space) to run KRunner, that
doesn't matter.

OBSERVED RESULT
I. Current directory content list is refreshed.
II. Selected mail switches back to that from step 1.
(NB Selected mail is kept on switching mail directory)

EXPECTED RESULT
I. I can't see a reason to refresh list on activation/deactivation, though
maybe I'm wrong and there is some reason. But flashing to empty and showing
list again doesn't look good.
II. At least selected mail should be kept on deactivation/activation.

Yes, it's very complex and not easy to debug. Developers that use Akonadi seem
to never get those issues. But they need to reproduce those to be able to fix
them.

> I found KDE is by far the better desktop

Some corrections: The desktop is called Plasma, the community is called KDE.

Additionally, the choice of the desktop does not limit the choice for the
applications you use. There should be no problem to use applications not made
by KDE. In fact, many Plasma users run Firefox, Thunderbird, or other GTK based
applications.

Sorry, but we do not keep duplicates open just because someone thinks it's

[kontact] [Bug 405242] New: Kontact folder default identity should be settable per resource or should inherit from parent folder

2019-03-08 Thread Diane Trout
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405242

Bug ID: 405242
Summary: Kontact folder default identity should be settable per
resource or should inherit from parent folder
   Product: kontact
   Version: 5.10.3
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: mail
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: di...@ghic.org
  Target Milestone: ---

I'm experimenting with the flatpak version of kontact 5.10.2

It would be nice if I didn't have to go through each folder on a secondary ews
resource and change the default identity for each folder.

Ideally one would be able to set the default identity for the account or
perhaps child folders could defaulted to the account of their parent. (Then I
could just change the root default folder and have it percolate through all the
others)

This is why I kept my database and logs and am waiting for a request from a
developer to help in debugging.
I know it's hard to get an application into a "known broken state" for
debugging.

I know. I am using Thunderbird for now and it works fine.
But I liked the better integration into the rest of the desktop that
Kontact/KMail/... offered.

That's completely fine if there is a real duplicate.
