Is anyone listening? Email disappearing unexpectedly is a major problem. The only workaround for this if you don't want the message preview pane visible is to close the email and move it to the trash from the message view window. Experienced the same issue on the nvidia legacy 390 binary driver. Sometimes just before the crash I can see the message pane flashing in red color. This is not the latest KMail but the one packaged with Debian/Buster. I'd like to file a bug with Debian referencing this one on kde.org. They might need to backport an existing fix.
