[kmail2] [Bug 421173] New: Removal of e-mail attachments without removing entire e-mail

2020-05-07 Thread Ole Reier Ulland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421173

Bug ID: 421173
Summary: Removal of e-mail attachments without removing entire
e-mail
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.11.0
  Platform: Mageia RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: commands and actions
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: ole.reier.ull...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
A few years ago it was possible to remove an attached file from an e-mail
without removing the entire e-mail. That is no longer possible. That is so
extremely impractical to me that I have attempted to migrate to an other e-mail
client, but I came up short. If you are not willing to fix this, that I find to
be a major bug in KMail, please tell me of a way to migrate all my e-mails to
an other e-mail client.

KDE Plasma Version: It should have been on top of the start menu. But I can not
find that information anywhere I have thought of looking.

SUMMARY
In KMail on the left side, for e-mail folders, I have three columns, Name,
Total and Size. Somehow the size column has become extremely wide, I am talking
about many many display widths, I strongly suspect by ifself.

The same happens sometimes when I start KMail to a smaller extent by itself in
the right section also where the e-mails are. There I can just drag the column
more narrow so it can be contained on the display.

But for the left section that does not work.

58d42ed87387 disables dfaaec1dc9ea6a1364d82a4fe8add90064c0199f in kmime for the
moment, so this should work again in master and 5.14.1.

Not sure what the plan is going forward, so I'll leave the bug status as is for

[kontact] [Bug 421154] New: Kontact summary page does not update

2020-05-07 Thread Timo Wilken
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421154

Bug ID: 421154
Summary: Kontact summary page does not update
   Product: kontact
   Version: 5.14.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: summary
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: timo.21.wilken+kde...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The Kontact summary page does not update itself in time.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a calendar event scheduled e.g. 1h41m in the future to Kontact and
enable the Upcoming Events component on the summary page
2. Wait a few minutes, keeping the summary page open

OBSERVED RESULT
The summary page still says "in 1 hr 41 mins", not the correct, updated time.
Switching away (e.g. to the mail page) and back to the summary page displays
the correct time.

EXPECTED RESULT
The remaining time in the second column of the Upcoming Events item should
update every minute to remain correct.

I can confirm that the events that don't show up were created with an external

Confirming here. I also had this, when a calendar invite was recorded into the
calendar by some other tool (nextcloud for me) and I did not use kontact to
record the invite. But the invitation email was still present in the system.
Now accepting the invite also in kontact made the entry appear in korganizer.

But I now have an even stranger issue: There is a recurring event. The date of
the event was changed, so I changed "this instance" from 14 May to 07 May.
First, the event disappeared completely, but showed up in akonadiconsole
correctly (07 May). As this is a nextcloud calendar, I used my browser in
nextcloud to change the event. Now the event shows up correctly in the
nextcloud browser and on my mobile phone and in akonadiconsole. But it did not
show up in kontact/korganizer.
But then (after some fsck & restart) BIG surprise, the entry shows up on 11 May
and, when opened, says 07 May. This looks pretty strange IMHO. Why would an
event show up on 11 May when the entry correctly says 07 May?

Thanks! With your test case it's much easier to reproduce the bug.

Findings:
- When hovering over the filename, the statusbar does _not_ show any spaces.
- Saving a single attachment or all attachments at once also does _not_ result
in any spaces.
- Everything inside QWebEngine's view incorrectly shows spaces for the first
attachment, but not for the second. Spaces are also present when selecting and
copying the text.
- When saving the files, attaching them to a new mail in KMail and saving as a
draft, everything works fine when viewing the result. Thus KMail only has
problems understanding the filename format created in Thunderbird.

So, in general this should work now (certainly better than in 2016), but there
are still some viewing-related cases for mails created in e.g. Thunderbird
where this is still broken.

Cannot reproduce using KMail git master. Like in Comment 2, files attached
to
mails created with KMail have their filename encoded in a single line and
 display and save just fine.

Please let us know whether you can still reproduce. It would also be
interesting to know which mail application was used to create the message
you
received. You can also attach a test case to the bug by saving as an mbox
file.

That's correct, as pointed out in Comment 4. I just pulled and rebuilt kmime,
messagelib and kmail just to be sure, and completely removed all config files

Can confirm, that's a great way to reproduce the issue.

In fact, it seems starting minimized and to systray is not even necessary,
merely letting KMail get restarted upon session restore was enough for me. I
wonder why that is: Perhaps due to increased system load?

Created attachment 128211
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=128211=edit
Result after saving as draft.

That's what I get (slightly redacted) after the "save draft" step in Comment 4.

Maybe you could attach your result after that step too? This way we can check
whether there are still some ambiguities in the steps to reproduce, resulting
in not being able to reproduce.

[kmail2] [Bug 334213] Stuck "Mail filter agent" progressbar

Hi,
I got 'Mail filter agent' with kmail starting automatically from the systray:
--> Activating the icon
--> Starting minimized in the tray.
--> with a autostart in .config/autostart.

I don't get it if I started it manually.

Thanks!
