That sounds great. Do you have any plan when it will be finished? If you need
someone test maybe I can help you.

Maybe something like a pop-up should appear always in Kmail or contact as well
for the other components, if a new valued function is implemented. Otherwise
how should people know about new great things!

Surely this broke the ABI

https://invent.kde.org/pim/akonadi/-/commit/261678d504a27d75eaa1d8b1730e837f39858952

> template inline static void registerAttribute()

would be code that ends up in the caller of the template function, in this case
zanshin, calling into the public symbol (albeit private function)

> void registerAttribute(std::unique_ptr attribute);

which has a different calling signature as per that commit

Namely the new symbol is (from a master build):
> _ZN7Akonadi16AttributeFactory17registerAttributeESt10unique_ptrINS_9AttributeESt14default_deleteIS2_EE

while the one before was (from a 20.04 build):
> _ZN7Akonadi16AttributeFactory17registerAttributeEPNS_9AttributeE

SUMMARY
If I respond to an e-mail the sent E-mails should be marked as read. But it is
moved into the sent folder as unread. This doesn't make any sense. It appears
there were "unread" mails but there aren't.

[korganizer] [Bug 433058] Event view box remains empty after cliking on an event / right-clicking and clicking on "view"

2021-02-18 Thread Warbeaver
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433058

The item viewer on the left worked perfectly fine up until a few days ago.

I am pretty sure that the foreground and background text colors did not cause
the problem, because that same item viewer on the left showed the default text
("no item selected" (translated from my locale)).

P.S.: I wrote that "the event details viewer box on the left remains empty",
but it has actually always showed the default text, which was simply not
getting modified after clicking on an event. Sorry for that inaccuracy.
The right-clip pop-up, however, was indeed empty.

That being said, after having rebooted my computer I find myself unable to
reproduce the bug...

I just noticed that if you click the "Display calendar in a full window" in the
navigation bar, it puts month/year navigation buttons/arrows at the top of the
calendar, along with clickable month/year names for quick navigation. Why not
have that always shown and remove the navigation bar?

kdepim developers don't care about soversions. akonadi breaks ABI very
frequently and applications linking to it need to be rebuilt.

2021-02-18 Thread Harald Sitter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433090

That may well be but then the soversion will still have to change.

The only options for any library are:

a) when ABI is broken the soversion is bumped
b) nobody checks if ABI is broken and the soversion is directly tied to the
release version e.g. the there is no libfoo.so.5 but only a libfoo.so.5.20.12.2
c) the library has no version, is considered private, and doesn't advertise
itself for external use (install with NAMELINK_SKIP + no cmake config)

One may pick any of the three.

(b) would be a nightmare for packagers, we'd need to rebuild everything after
every bug fix release (note that this affects every PIM library, not just
akonadi)
For (c) it is too late, there is stuff using pim libraries already.
The right way is (a), but good luck trying to convince kdepim devs of that :)
