[kmail2] [Bug 477434] New: Timeout during importing a very high amount of mails
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477434 Bug ID: 477434 Summary: Timeout during importing a very high amount of mails Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: unspecified Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: misc Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: dennis...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** My day to day email box is an Outlook.com address that I've had since about 10 years and as such contains several (ten/hundred)thousands of emails. It took me one or two restarts of KMail to fetch all the emails; it seemed to timeout after some point. I'll be glad to provide additional information on this *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have an Outlook.com email box with a very high quantity of emails (order of magnitude of 10,000 to 1,000,000) 2. Start KMail on a "clean slate", i.e. without configs 3. Import the Outlook.com email address. KMail will now import older items first (at least that was the case for me) 4. Sort emails by date descending (if KMail is not set to do so automatically) to easily see which email is the last one imported OBSERVED RESULT At some point, it stops importing any items; you can see that no newer emails are imported now. If you close and reopen KMail now, the loading continues EXPECTED RESULT KMail will not timeout during processing of this large mailbox and continue to download emails until all the emails are fetched SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 12 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 Kernel Version: 6.1.0-13-amd64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz Memory: 7.7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 5500 Manufacturer: Dell Inc. [kmail2] [Bug 461958] [possibly overflow] Date of email shown as year -4714
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461958 --- Comment #3 from coding-mat...@mailbox.org --- (In reply to Laurent Montel from comment #2) Hi, as my comment, restarting KMail, or even only switching the Sorting option of Message List in View menu will somehow fix the issue and put the email that is parsed wrong back to its place, thus I don't have a email that is going wrong atm. I'll try to send you one next time this issue appears. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
