11:45:53 --- E-Mail accounts are checked in parallel currently. I'm
wondering too: Why should I need this?

Because the Check Mail button can bring down a menu allowing one
to launch a mail update on a single, selected account.
The order of the menu listing should be configurable.

[Bug 115924] alphabetic sorting in check mail in list

Bravo for KDE 4.2!
Currently using kmail 1.11.0

The ordering of Folders (tree view and favorites)
can be sorted manually or by column.
However, the ordering of accounts in the drop-down
Check Mail button menu is by some arbitrary
order (in fact, by Account Id number in kmailrc).

Indeed, it would be nice to be able to choose the
order, especially when one has very many mail accounts.
A logical mechanism would be to allow sorting
in the Configure Accounts dialog and to use this
order in the drop-down check mail menu.
(Currently on can sort in the Configure Accounts
dialog by Name, Type, or Folder, but not manually
and this sorting does not affect the Check Mail
button menu.)

In the previous version of kmail, the check mail
menu was sorted by name, not kmailrc Account Id.

To explain why this would be useful, I have many
accounts that I manually check, and it is easier
to find them if ordered.

Bravo for KDE 4.2!

Finally, the external editor works again
(with gvim, if one uses the -f option).

But what we would really like would be to
to use vim (or emacs, or whatever other favorite
text editor) embedded in the composed window.

Please, I think of this every time I break a wishbone!

Thanks

kmail version 1.10.4

My company's antispam filter sends me quarantine notices in HTML with links to
release individual messages, such as:
a
href=mailto:pmx-auto-approve%2b71c406ecdca9004ea1e280082f68d...@server.domaine?subject=release%20message%20from%20quarantinebody=[%23y6nRYw-3];[#y6nRYw-3]/a

(in this example, server.domaine has been changed)

kmail opens a composer window with the correct address, but the subject is set
as:
Release message from quarantinebody=[%23y6nRYw-3]
and the body, of course, is empty...

See Bug 108174: KMail: Highlight target folder when moving mails
I have been very troubled by this problem and here I found the solution.
Switching to plastique style (broken in early KDE4.0) makes this feature of
kmail work.
Should the present Bug be marked a duplicate of the much earlier bug cited
above?
Should this be reassigned to the oxygen style?
Thanks!

During message compostion, attaching a file opens the Attach File - Kmail
dialog. Entering the desired name in the Location field selects matching
filenames as I type, but then fails to correctly use the selected filename.

As in illustration, the selected directory contains the files:
myfile2007.pdf
myfile2008.pdf
Typing myfile290 then nicely presents 2 choices as a tooltip popup. Selecting
the second indeed shows up in the Location field, yet the first remains
highlighted in the filelist pane. It is the highlighted filename that is then
attached.

A precision: typing myfile2008 does highlight the correct name, and the
desired file is attached. The bug seems to be in the selection from the tooltip
style short list.

Yes, It would be nice if the show detailed progress window be remembered and
that it not be necessary to reselect this every time one runs kmail.
Alternatively, there could be a kmail settings option to (always) show this
window.

Indeed, this is one of the little things that I (silently) wish for everytime I

Kmail has finally come to KDE4(beta)!
However, hovering with the mouse no longer outlines/highlights the target
folders at all. It would indeed be useful if:
- target folders over which the mouse hovers be highlighted/outlined
- upon mouse button release, maintain this highlight/outline upon display of
the move/copy/cancel menu.

Currently, replying to multiple selected messages in kmail 1.9.51 (kde4 beta1)
only includes the FIRST selected message, both for its choice of recipient(s)
and for the quoted text.

As described above (or in the other bugs marked as duplicates), the correct
behaviour would be a union of authors (in the case of reply) or of all
recipients (except for me) in the case of reply to all. As with mutt.

By the way, this feature is absent from most popular email clients (other than
mutt) but has been available since the stone age under VAX/VMS. Just don't
believe that email is a recent invention of the internet.

[Bug 159453] New: missing imap messages or empty message bodies

2008-03-17 Thread Alan Braslau
--- You are receiving this mail because: ---

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159453
Summary: missing imap messages or empty message bodies
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.9.9
  Platform: Debian testing
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: alan.braslau cea fr

Version: 1.9.9 (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from:Debian testing/unstable Packages

kmail has become unstable (and unusable) since upgrade to KDE 3.8.9 (kmail
1.9.9).
- some (random yet reproducible) IMAP messages are missing, yet perfectly
readable using another email client (e.g. mutt or icedove) or even kmail on a
second computer.
- other (random yet reproducible) IMAP messages show empty message bodies, yet
again perfectly visible using another email client.

Note that kmail running on two different computers accessing the same imap
account behave differently: messages missing using one client appear on the
other and messages showing empty bodies show no problem on the other instance
of kmail running on a second computer. This thus appears to be a problem with
the IMAP cache. However, Refresh local IMAP cache has no effect.

IMAP servers are 1) local dovecot 2) remote MS/exchange 3) remote dovecot.

Again, this instability has (re)appeared since upgrading to KDE 3.8.9/kmail
1.9.9. Thus, kmail has become unreliable and therefore UNUSABLE.
