[Akonadi] [Bug 471087] New: Unable to add email account to Kmail or Kontact

2023-06-15 Thread Alexander
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471087

Bug ID: 471087
Summary: Unable to add email account to Kmail or Kontact
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Account Wizard
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: billing...@gmail.com
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: accountwizard (0.2)

Qt Version: 5.15.9
Frameworks Version: 5.107.0
Operating System: Linux 6.3.7-200.fc38.x86_64 x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland
Distribution: Fedora Linux 38 (KDE Plasma)
DrKonqi: 5.27.5 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
What I'm trying to do:
Add my Gmail account to Kmail or Kontact

My Setup:
This is a fresh install of Fedora 38, KDE Plasma Desktop, with updates applied
to current day (as far as I know), and the only configuration I've done is add
Google to my Online Accounts.

Steps to repeat:
How I got to the issue: Open Kmail > Settings > Add Account > Enter Email
address and password with "Find provider settings on the Internet" checked >
Reviewed IMAP settings and clicked "Next"
When doing these steps I see a very brief message that is gone before I can
read it, I think it says something about looking up the settings, and then
nothing happens except the Next button is clickable again. When I try to
perform the same steps except with the "Find provider settings on the Internet"
box unchecked, I get this crash.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Here on a current openSuse Tumbleweed it happens too, akonadi 5.22.1 (22.12.1).
Or at least the old duplicates are still here, not sure whether new ones have
appeared this week already.

There is an addon for Thunderbird: https://camiel.bouchier.be/en/cb_thunderlink

Maybe somebody finds my report here and decides to write such an addon for
kmail.

2023-01-23 Thread Alexander

Bug ID: 464695
Summary: New feature (?): get Message-ID or path/name of
message with right click
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.22.1
  Platform: openSUSE

  Reporter: cookie...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I'm actually doing my work with kmail: Questions are coming in via e-mail. I'm
using org-mode (https://orgmode.org/) to organize everything. It would be very
helpful to put a link into my org-file to the e-mail which I received or wrote
on that topic.

This does not depend on Emacs or org-mode: Anybody who uses e-mails for work
will need, at least once in a while, a way to link to such an e-mail.

As of today, it is rather difficult to have any link to a specific e-mail.
kmail neither makes the message-ID available, nor the path to the email (which
may change from new to cur). The possible solution is discussed in this thread
here: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-orgmode/2023-01/msg00698.html

There has been a suggestion to use URI sheme "mid:", but if that idea from 1998
is the smartest thing to implement in 2023? However, probably a solution would
be very useful for many users.

I have the same issue, in the terminal you get a meaningful error message:

>org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Starting up the Akonadi Server...
>org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: mysqld not found. Please verify your installation
>org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Shutting down AkonadiServer...

Though this is a really bad user experience :/

[frameworks-syndication] [Bug 436288] New: Wrong indentation in pre-formatted html content (5.78 regression)

2021-04-27 Thread Alexander Miller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436288

Bug ID: 436288
Summary: Wrong indentation in pre-formatted html content (5.78
regression)
   Product: frameworks-syndication
   Version: 5.80.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: alex.mil...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Since commit 9a54df8b ("Port away from deprecated QXmlInputSource"),
syndication changes the indentation of lines that start with a tag in the html
content of a feed item. That doesn't matter in most places, but it's a problem
where whitespace should be preserved, like in a block or a tag with
style="white-space:pre".

As a result, after upgrading from frameworks 5.77 to 5.80, newly fetched
articles of a feed that regularly uses pre-formatted content with additional
markup are shown with wrongly indented lines in akregator, while old, archived
articles still render correctly. Reverting the commit mentioned above fixes the
problem.

A small made-up example to illustrate the problem:
If an article contains

line 1
line 2
line 3

then several spaces will be added in front of line 2, which is wrong.

The offending commit should be reverted and then the deprecated method may be
replaced with a different solution that doesn't cause regressions.

On KDE Neon the package is called libkf5akonadisearch-plugins.

And to me it seems like we would need to display multiline matches in KRunner

Huh, I colud reproduce this on v3.1.11.

Maybe you just have to click inside of the other window to reproduce.
If I have the window open and close it using the system tray and then open it
using the system tray it is shown on top. But not if clicking inside of another
window after closing it.

Cannot reproduce using KMail git master. Like in Comment 2, files attached
to
mails created with KMail have their filename encoded in a single line and
 display and save just fine.

Please let us know whether you can still reproduce. It would also be
interesting to know which mail application was used to create the message
you
received. You can also attach a test case to the bug by saving as an mbox

Can you try to disable AppArmor and start it?
It helped for me when I had this bug.
Seems to be something wrong with the AA policy which causes mysqld-akonadi to
be unable to read it's configuration.

Anyway, I'm changing this bug product because it's not really Neon-specific.

Not fixed as of May 02nd!

And -- very strange -- the warning message in German, that external references

[Akonadi] [Bug 404990] Sign in with Google temporarily disabled for this app

2019-12-17 Thread Alexander Potashev
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404990

I have a idea for workaround.

For the context, read carefully:
https://developers.google.com/gmail/api/auth/about-auth
It mentions verification of *public* applications.

Google permits usage of Google APIs without app verification unless you
application is published. For example, I use my own little script for automated
processing of some specific types of emails that I receive daily on my Gmail
address - Google doesn't care about verification in this case because it's my
personal app.

So, what if we let KMail users create their "applications" at Google API
Console [1] and force KMail to use the new app token instead of the KMail's
official token?
This sounds like an abuse Google APIs at first, but we can view this as if the
user forked KMail and created a new app token for it since their "forked"
version of KMail is now personal application.

To make this workaround easy to employ, we need to un-hardcode the Akonadi's
Google app ID and put it in a configuration file. At the moment it is hardcoded
as https://github.com/KDE/kdepim-runtime/search?q=554041944266 - in these two
files:
 - resources/google/common/googlesettings.cpp
 - resources/imap/gmailpasswordrequester.cpp

Ran into the same issue here as well after doing system upgrades. PIM 18.12.0

I tried creating a password manually in kwalletmanager as well, but didn't
realize that the title was the resource id followed by 'rc', so of course it
didn't read that one either.

I was able to set a new password as mentioned in
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389369#c5 though, which is what revealed
the naming difference to me.

[kmail2] [Bug 401201] New: KMail segfaults on startup

2018-11-19 Thread Alexander Graul
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401201

Bug ID: 401201
   Summary: KMail segfaults on startup
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: agr...@suse.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kmail (5.9.3)

Qt Version: 5.11.2
Frameworks Version: 5.52.0
Operating System: Linux 4.19.1-1-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I added a new imap server and then tried to change a few settings. This was
needed, because the whole Interface (main view) is blank. The list of email
folders on the left is empy, so is the list of mails and the prevew pane. The
borders and descriptions are still there as expected. Clicking on "Modify.." of
the imap server did not work, i.e. nothing happened (the button gave visual
feedback that it was pressed, but no popup). I wanted to restart KMail and
closed it via File->Quit, after starting it again it segfaulted.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

Sadly that patch which was actually fixing things was reverted and after that
no one looked into that...

I can confirm this problem.

The same server works fine with other clients (e.g. Thunderbird).

I had the same suspicion as Jörg that the problem might be related to the
double encoded backslashes.

[kmail2] [Bug 389427] New: Setup Wizard does not show if TLS will be used

2018-01-25 Thread Alexander Schier
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389427

Bug ID: 389427
Summary: Setup Wizard does not show if TLS will be used
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.6.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@laxu.de
  Target Milestone: ---

The setup wizard asks first for Name, email and password and later (if you
choose manual IMAP) for a server name.
You can see nowhere if it will use TLS and when it will try to connect for the
first time. This means I do not know if my password may be sent in plaintext.

Please add a clear option
TLS: yes, starttls, starttls (optional), no
where I can be sure that I will use TLS when using "yes" or "starttls".

I guess it defaults to TLS, but I have no idea about its fallback behaviour and
I am not even sure if it doesn't try without TLS. That's a bad thing for
setting up an email account.

2018-01-25 Thread Alexander Schier
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389426

Bug ID: 389426
Summary: Cannot cancel IMAP connection to server with wrong
certificate
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.6.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@laxu.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Use a wrong servername for the mail server in the setup wizard or the
"accounts" settings.

Then you get a "certificate error" message with "details, cancel, continue"
buttons.
When clicking "cancel", the box reopens instantly with a second error message
box for "login failed, tls negotiation failed" in the background. Closing the
second one is not possible before you closed the first one, which reopens
quickly.

The only option to get back to the program is to keep ESC pressed until first
the TLS error message closes and then the login error message.

I just got hit by this too. I got an invitation ICS file from Cisco WebEx via
KMail and as there was no option to accept like there is in
thunderbird/lightning So I tried to open and import it. It showed as beeing
imported and the akonadi console show it but it is not displayed and I had no
option to accept the event. Is there a workaround for this except editing the
backend file?

The strange thing is that the event is there if I check with Akonadi Console.

I'm on the "latest" Kontact/Korganizer Version 5.7.0. I'm currently not at
