[kmail2] [Bug 320621] New: Messages moved spontaneously then lost
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320621 Bug ID: 320621 Summary: Messages moved spontaneously then lost Classification: Unclassified Product: kmail2 Version: 4.10.2 Platform: Mageia RPMs OS: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: cannewil...@googlemail.com Mageia 3, clean install. Mail stored on Googlemail, accessed by IMAP. KMail started promisingly, but then on the second day I noticed that some of my Sent mail had been moved to Bin. I tried to retrieve them, but each time I clicked on a message it simply disappeared. Reproducible: Didn't try Potential loss of data is too great for experimentation, so KMail will not be used again until there is good reason to try it again. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 258163] Message replies are not sent due to bad sent-mail folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258163 --- Comment #1 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2010-11-29 09:02:29 --- I found the cause and the workaround. While poking around configurations I found a screen that appears to set the default sent-mail and drafts location - unfortunately I can't find it again, so perhaps a dev can specify where that is, for the archives. Each of these showed that the migration had added a long address string - too long to display and not scrollable, so I can't quote it. Using the icon beside the address bar to point to the required defaults resulted in ServerName/Sent-mail and ServerName/Drafts. From this point on, all the settings from Identities Advanced tabs and the folder option 'keep replies in this folder' began to work. It seems that those settings must override the defaults, and if the default string is badly migrated the application never gets as far as reading them. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

New messages seem OK, but replies were not going out. I tried setting the sent-mail folder to KMail Folders/sent-mail and that didn't work either. Finally, I set the sent folder to be displayed on the composer page, and found that it was not showing any sent folder at all. Selecting the IMAP server's folder there caused it to work correctly. It looks as though I shall have to manually select the folder for each message. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Set a special sent-mail folder using KMail configuration, Proceed as normally Actual Results: The reply cannot be sent. I have been using Fedora for some time. I recently installed OpenSUSE 11.3 over Fedora, keeping my /home. Everything seemed to be fine until I realised that my folder Expires were not set. I set Inbox to expire at 30 day. Expire took a long time, and left fewer messages than I expected. On examining Trash (I don't immediately delete) I found that messages only a few days old had been expired. Experiment - I set one less-vital folder to expire at 30 days, moving messages to Trash on my IMAP server. They do not appear to be there. Examining kmailrc I find that for that folder ExpireAction=Delete and ReadExpireAge=3 (both seems to be defaults, set on all folders). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227636 --- Comment #11 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2010-02-26 17:00:01 --- Since kontact launching began to work again last night, reason unknown, this seems to have been much less of a problem. Yes, I see peaks of 99% usage, but it no longer stays there. I'm completely at a loss to explain what's happening. I did a Fedora update just before things straightened out, but there were no packages obviously connected with kdepim, akonadi, nepomuk or mysql. The only possibility I can think of is that some service needed restarting and I'd overlooked it. If I see that high CPU behaviour again I'll try to find evidence of the cause, but for now it seems to be fixed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227636 --- Comment #7 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2010-02-25 14:02:59 --- Sadly, I discovered this morning that while KMail opens and I can read my mail, I can't send a message at all. I prepared one which sat in the greyed out state for upwards of 10 minutes, after which I had to kill KMail. This is a huge problem for me, and I'd request that it's priority be raised. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 227636] Kontact starting, running, but doesn't show up
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227636 --- Comment #9 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2010-02-25 15:38:19 --- Well, certainly from a user PoV, it's not the same. We talked before of delays of up to a minute when sending messages. As I said here, in this case it froze so completely that I couldn't do anything at all with KMail, and I waited for more than 10 minutes, by which time it seemed beyond recovery. The reason I asked for priority raising was that using the applications as stand-alone would be a work-around, but in fact the work-around was failing. However, I have sent one test email since applying your workaround from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219687#c65 and that left promptly, so I'm more hopeful. It may or may not be connected, but the other applications I tried use sensible amounts of CPU, but with KMail working, even as stand-alone, I am constantly on 98-99% CPU. Compare that with the netbook beside me that is running 4.4.0-5 - there Kontact is running and strigi is indexing. CUP activity peaks at around 90% when fetching mail, but varies considerably in-between, falling as low as 3% from time to time. The average seems to be around 50-60%. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179997 --- Comment #23 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2009-10-28 11:10:23 --- Of course, and that's the reason I suggested creating the gpg-agent config file. However, since the reason for that file is unrelated to pinentry-qt it seems strange that it is the only place I can think of where the instruction exists. Since I've been using such a setup for years, using the same config files in fact, I can't honestly remember how I originally got it to work. I do remember times after a new install when I was asked for the passphrase for every message, which suggests that agent is not necessary, though obviously desirable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179997 --- Comment #20 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2009-10-27 21:50:26 --- This is not a KDE issue, as far as I can see. I an many others sign and encrypt mail in KMail. On the other hand, it could possibly be a packaging issue, so you should file a bug report with your distro. I find it strange, though, that getting gpg-agent to work actually activated the pinentry-qt. That should have worked without gpg-agent. The agent's task is to cache your passphrase for a set length of time so that you don't have to enter it for every message you sign. The fact that it did work (Comment 15) does point to a distro bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 195179] New: Mail folder settings not available across IMAP clients
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195179 Summary: Mail folder settings not available across IMAP clients Product: kmail Version: 1.11.3 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: cannewil...@googlemail.com Version: 1.11.3 (using KDE 4.2.3) OS:Linux Installed from:Fedora RPMs I have with KMail concerns folder properties on a local imap server. I set certain folders to hold replies to messages, so that I see complete threads. Then I work on a different box, and the property is not set. Or maybe I get a moderator's message because my default address was used for sending, instead of the one applicable to the ML. It seems to me that a user is likely to want the same settings, whichever box he works on, so it would be logical to hold folder settings on the imap server's user space, rather than on the client box. Could this be achieved by the IMAP METADATA extension? Or some other means? https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179997 --- Comment #7 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2009-05-13 13:22:11 --- (In reply to comment #6) Now i can read encrypted messages, but still i can't sign. I guess this means that the pinentry stuff is correctly installed and you will finally admit it is a bug... The message i get now when i try to sign is that the recipient doesn't have encryption preferences. Am i supposed to set those preferences for each item in my address book? I'll be old when i finish... Calm down :-) I had exactly the same problem as this for some time. After long investigation it turned out that something on my keyring was corrupt. It's simple enough to test for this. Back up your keyring, then remove gpg from your system, and start afresh so that it creates an empty keyring. Import your own public key, and replace your private keyring from the backup file. If signing now works there is a corruption in the old keyring. As for the message about contacts, I don't know whether it is connected with the other problem, or whether it is a distro-specific problem. I've never seen it.
