p.s None of the folders except the (ironically) the Spam folder appeared to be 
sync'ing, but I lacked the time to follow it up.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Unfortunately I'm off to NZ for a few days, so will be unable to test to next 
week.

I marked the root Drafts folder as do not show in IMAP via the web interface
and the Account is now showing.

Interestingly it still shows the Drafts folder

Have added the gmail resource - very slick and easy these days. I used
akonadiconsole to do so. 
  - "Download all messages" was Checked.

Status indicates it syncing and it was hammering my network, but the resource
never appeared in the kontact/kmail display.

Deleted it. This left a kio_http process flogging my net connection, which I
had to kill manually.

Have re-added it via kmail but the resource is still not visible in kmail
  - "Download all messages" is not Checked.

Second time roung I got a msg about the resource being broken, and the console
showed:

DATABASE ERROR:
Error code: 1062
DB error:  "Duplicate entry '203-Drafts' for key
'CollectionTable_parentAndNameIndex'"
Error text: "Duplicate entry '203-Drafts' for key
'CollectionTable_parentAndNameIndex' QMYSQL3: Unable to execute statement"
Query: "INSERT INTO CollectionTable (remoteId, remoteRevision, name, parentId,
resourceId, enabled, syncPref, displayPref, indexPref, cachePolicyInherit,
isVirtual) VALUES (:0, :1, :2, :3, :4, :5, :6, :7, :8, :9, :10)"
Error during insertion into table "CollectionTable" "Duplicate entry
'203-Drafts' for key 'CollectionTable_parentAndNameIndex' QMYSQL3: Unable to

But it seems to carry on syncing after this.

I have a Saved Search folder that filters on unread messages (Message Status =
Unread). Often there will be unread messages from multiple folders in that one
search folder.

If I do a "Mark All Read" on the unread search folder, it marks all the
messages as read in the search folder.

*But* For all the actual folders where the unread msgs are, only one folder
will have its unread count cleared (it always seems to be the first folder in
the tree).

Initially, for the folders which are displaying an unread count, the messages
actually display as read - hence the count would appear to be inaccurate. 

Soon though (next sync?) the messages will revert to showing an unread status
and *can't* be marked read.

Restarting kontact does not resolve the problem, but eventually it resolves
itself - next sync maybe?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a saved search folder that displays all unread messages (Status =
Unread)
2. Wait for multiple unread messages to appear, from multiple folders
3. Using the saved search folder, mark all messages read
Actual Results:  
- Only the first unread folder has it unread count set to 0

- the other unread folders will initially have no unread messages, despite
displaying an unread count

- Eventually the msgs will revert to an unread state and can't be marked unread

Expected Results:  
All messages should be marked read
All folder unread counts should be set to 0

Rather than waiting for new msgs to arrive you can just mark message unread for
testing

You can specify a list of excluded directories for indexing in KCM module for
baloofile, but it only displays the final part of the path. This is confusing,
as initially it doesn't even look like a directory and is ambiguous in the not
uncommon situation where paths share a common last name.

A roll over hint displays the full path, but this is not immediately obvious
and relies on the user having a mouse.

Finally, it is just hiding information from the user for no clear benefit.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open System Settings - "Desktop Search" (the KCM module)
2. Add file paths to exclude from indexing
Actual Results:  
Only the final node of the path(s) will be displayed.

Expected Results:

Baloo auto indexes the contents of $HOME and sub directories by default. Other
entries in fstab are added to a black list by default, but can be removed (and
hence indexed) via the Systems Settings "Desktop Search" UI.

However any user data directories that are on the root mount are not indexed by
default, and cannot be specified for indexing via the UI.

They can be manually added by editing  baloofilerc, and are indexed after that.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a root data directory, e.g /data2
2. Add a document file to this directory, e..g balootest.txt, with some unique
content
3. Search for the file with baloosearch, e.g "baloosearch balootest"

Actual Results:  
No results will be returned.

Expected Results:  
/data2/balootest.txt

Editing the ~/.kde/share/config/baloofilerc file and adding:

  "folders[$e]=/data2/,$HOME/"

will give the desired results. Users shouldn't have to do this though.

?! Really? I'm running master+baloo (4.13pre) and for me search has major
issues, not that I have been able to get anyone to take notice.

But I am running a two seriously large IMAP accounts (60,000+ msgs) - I suspect
 the search devs don't.

Searching on message status = unread often never returns any results or returns
entirely wrong results

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Find Message Dialog
2. Specifiy All sub folders for a account root folder
3. Specify Message Status =  unread
4. Click Search
Actual Results:  
Usually no results are returned regardless of how many msgs are unread
Sometime the previous result of an older unrelated search is returned. Once
this happens it is impossible to get a serach to return anything else without
restarting akonadi.

Expected Results:  
A list of currently unread message should be returned.

Searching in general is so broken and unreliable its hard to report it. None of
the features are reliable.

Thanks Andre, that makes sense.

As I've currently implemented it --query 
- searchs the local keys, shows detail if found
- if nothing is found, invokes the "Certificate Server Certificate Lookup" 

The idea being, when invoke from kmail it displays the key detail if founds,
otherwise searches the key servers for it. No need for a --external

Does that break needed functionality or other clients?

kleopatra  --external  --query 

I have a patch that adds back --query support and was about to commit it until
I found this bug report. I might as well add --external support to, once I know
what its meant to do ;)

In general sync is working - add/edit contacts in Kontact/gmail replicates them
both ways.
Delete a contact in Gmail and it is deleted in Kontact

But if I delete a contact in Kontact it is not deleted in Gmail, even after
forcing a Synchronise All via akonadiconsole.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a test Contact in Kontact
2. Check it is replicated in Gmail Contacts
3. Delete the Contact in Kontact
Actual Results:  
The contact is not deleted in Gmail

Expected Results:  
The contact should have been deleted from gmail

This is with KDE 4.11 Beta 2 on Kubuntu 13.10. I think the bug has been around
for a while, I just hadn't got round to testing it properly.

When searching for for emails only containing multiple terms the search always
returns no results.

e.g I have multiple emails with the terms "carewolf" and "225" in the subject
line. If I search on only one condition it works, i.e 

- search on "carewolf" returns the emails

- search on "225" returns the emails

If I search on multiple conditions it always fails:

- search on "carewolf" and "225" returns nothing

- search on "carewolf" or "225 returns nothing



Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Invokde the search dlg for two terms contained together in multiple email
2. Click search

Actual Results:  
Nothing is returned

Fix bug in running job count

Fixes problem where the count of running jobs becomes less than zero
(-1), causing an assert in itemqueue.cpp at line 113 to trigger. This
was happening because ItemQueue::clear() was setting the running job
count to zero when there was unfinished jobs, when the jobs actually did
finish the running job count was decremented to below zero.
The batch fixes this by keeping a QList of running jobs, adding
them when created and removing when the job finishes (via the result
signal). When ItemQueue::clear() is called any outstanding jobs are
silently killed and the list cleared.

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I enabled email indexing and was letting was letting the feeder index as normal
(idle detection disabled). very soon in the process it would crash. I restarted
if a few times using akonadiconsole and it allways crashed again.

Here is the output in .xsession-errors that occured when it crashed.

Not getting an apport report. Just see a report on the console that
nepomukstorage has crash once, restartting, twice etc. The PID changes in the
task list.

I tried running nepomukstorage under gdb using kdevelop and got this:

When email indexing is enabled nepomuk storage crashes after 10-20 seconds. It
then restarts and eventually crashes again. Rinse and repeat ...

If I disable email indexing nothing crashes.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Stop neopmuk
2. Stop akonadi
3. Ensure Email indexing is enabled
4. Start nepomuk (from console)
5. Start Akonadi
Actual Results:  
The feeder will start indexing, eventually round the 50% mark the nepomuk
storage service will crash (reported on the console). The storage service will
restart as will the indexing and the problem repeats.

Expected Results:  
Indexing should complete. Nothing should crash.

akonadiconsole often hangs using 100% of a core when using it to restart or
abort the feeder.

Disabling the feeder leaves the kmail and kde feeling much more responsive - I
hadn't realised how much it was impacting thing.

Also I was having problems with read items becoming unread, this has stopped
since I disabled the feeder. I thought it was a sync problem but maybe it was
due to the storage service continually crashing.

I've done a clean and rebuild of nepomuk, akonadi, kdepim-runtime and kdepim
from master.

script installed to restart the feeder on kde startup.

For a number of people the default Family, Friends and Coworkers groups
disappeared from the web Contacts interface, so they recreated them manually.
However the Default groups still seem to download via the API, which is why I
see them doubled up on my Android.

This seems to be a common problem, particularly with older gmail accounts.

As a result I don't think you can rely on the group names being unique for use
as foreign id's.

I believe I've found the src of the problem - I had two contacts groups,
"Family" and "Friend" that I *created myself*. Once I renamed them (in gmail) 
to "Friends-1" and "Family-1" I was able to sync.

Now in kaddressbook I have the folders 

- Family
- Family-1
- Friends
- Friends-1

Family & Friends are empty.

Also I *do not* have "Family" or "Friends" groups in Gmail Contacts.

I setup a kde 4.10.1 VM and just installed libkgapi from master - it works, but
looks like Version 1 - Just "My Contacts" and "Other Contacts" and no cute icon
:(

Did that. no difference I'm afraid.

I also removed the account, deleted the resource (calendar as well), restarted
akonadi, re-added and reauthorised.

The resources states never changed from Ready - I never see it showin
"retrieving contacts" (or whatever it should be).

Note that the GUI, i.e kaddressbook is 4.10.1 from packages.

I can send you the terminal log from earlier via email if you like.

Switched to master, no longer crashes but getting original problem I mentioned
on your blog - never appears in kaddressbook, not even the address book entry

Having deauthorised and removed the old contacts resource I added a new one,
authorised using 2-factor authentication. It seemed to process ok but the
resource does not display at all in Kontact and no contacts are retrieved.

In akonadiconsole its state never changes and abort/restart/sync etc appears to
do nothing. Offline/Online does work.

The calendar resource does work but in the process of testing the contacts the
calender resource lost its google auth several times and had to be
reauthorised. Occasionally when re-adding the contacts resource I the auth page
appeared twice.

1. Enable 2-factor Auth in Google
2. Add the google contacts resource
3. Authorise it with google
Actual Results:  
Resource appears in AkonadiConsole, does not appear in Kontact address book. No
contacts are retrieved.

I have not tested with single factor auth

On booting my pc and starting akonadiconsole the status of the nepomuk feeder
is:

  "Waiting for Nepomuk Server to start..."

However "ps -e|grep nepo" shows that nepomukserver is running, plus all the
other nepomuk related facilities are working.

Its stays this way for a few minutes then changes to:

  "Nepomuk is not operation: Nepomuk is not running"

If I then restart the feeder resource it finds Nepomuk immediately and starts
indexing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot KDE
2. Start akonadiconsole
3. Observe the nepomuk feeder status
Actual Results:  
The feeder  fails to find the nepomuk server, after a few minutes it errors
out.

Expected Results:  
The nepomuk feeder should find the server almost immediately.

My google calendar and contacts resources are occasionally off-line - maybe a
similar problem?

I was getting this behaviour - first send (no matter what account) asked for
the password but oddly enough, this has stopped happening on my desktop. Just
noticed today when I rebooted. did a few more tests, definitely fixed. Could
have been any round of updates in the last week as I reboot (and hence restart
akonadi) very rarely.

I haven't made any config changes that I'm aware of.

I've been getting this one since kde 4.81 as well (Kubuntu 12.04). Glad I read
the bug report as I didn't realise that canceling the send and retrying would
would succeed. Looks like some sort of timing issue with accessing kwallet?

The problem only happens on the first send of each akonadi session, i.eI I can
recreate it by closing kmail and restarting akonadi.

Additionally - I have to identities/email servers set up. The problem will
occur for the first send no matter what email server I use but is fine there
after, i.e:

* Restart akonadi
* Send to SMTP1. 
  - Get Popup.
  - Cancel.
  - Resend
  - No Popup
  - Send to SMTP1
  - No popup 
  - Send to SMTP2
  - No popup

* Restart akonadi
* Send to SMTP2
  - Get Popup.
  - Cancel.
  - Resend
  - No Popup
  - Send to SMTP1
  - No popup 
  - Send to SMTP2
  - No popup

So it looks like the very first attempt to get a password fails, everything
else there after is ok

Also - this happens occasionaly with IMAP access as well, but very rarely, but
the SMTP one happens 100%

Personally I don't think its a big deal, as its not modal blocking and you can
still close the dialog - if its not easily fixed, then just remove the button
altogether

When performing a search, e.g "Subject = *" on my gmail imap account with tens
of thousands of messages, the stop button is never enabled, no matter how long
the search takes. However the dialog can be just closed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the "Find messages" dialog for a large account
Choose a open ended search such as "Subject = *"
Click "Search"

Actual Results:  
Search continues until it is ended or you close the dialiog. Stop button is
never enabled

Expected Results:  
Once search starts, Stop button should be enabled, allowing you to stop the
search without closing the dialog. This would allow us to change the search
parameters.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.0.0-15-generic
Compiler: gcc

I stopped desktop search, deleted the the nepomuk db, restarted search and all
was ok.
