[akregator] [Bug 488176] New: New Akregator theme (especially max-width) breaks some usecases - allow custom CSS?

Bug ID: 488176
Summary: New Akregator theme (especially max-width) breaks some
usecases - allow custom CSS?
Classification: Applications
   Product: akregator
   Version: 6.1.0
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@cboltz.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 170238
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=170238&action=edit
screenshot with some annotations

SUMMARY

The new Akregator theme breaks some usecases, especially by applying a
max-width.

For example, MediaWiki RecentChanges feeds which contain the changes as two
columns get displayed with very narrow columns, and - as a side effect - need
lots of scrolling.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a RecentChanges feed from a MediaWiki installation, for example
https://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=atom
2. choose/view an item that has a content change (= not creation of a new page)

OBSERVED RESULT

Very narrow columns with old and new text, which also needs lots of scrolling
(see attached screenshot).

EXPECTED RESULT

Use the full width, so that the columns have a reasonable width, and don't need
too much scrolling.

Well, at least for this usecase ;-) - and I understand that different people
might have different preferences.

Therefore I propose to add a config option where users can select a custom CSS
file, so that they can adjust the layout to their preference.
(Note: Ideally users should also have a way to see the default CSS and/or HTML
template so that they know what to change - but even a pointer to the source
(src/formatter/html/5.2/normalview.html) is better than nothing).

A more boring solution might be to make the max-width configurable - at least
for me it's the only thing I'd like to change in the new theme.

I'm not the original reporter, but I sometimes (rarely) see this problem -

find a pattern or explanation why this happens.

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@cboltz.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

If Akregator tries to fetch a feed over https, and the server certificate
expired, the dialog saying so steals the focus.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. add (or have) a feed from a server with expired ssl certificate
2. fetch all feeds
3. make sure Akregator doesn't have the focus

OBSERVED RESULT

A dialog saying (translated back from german)

"Validating the server ($domain) failed. The validity of the certificate is
expired."

This dialog grabs the focus, even if I'm just in another program. (Which also
means that - if I'm just going to press enter in the other program - will
accidently get that key press.

EXPECTED RESULT

Same dialog, but it shouldn't steal the focus.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The "edit feed" (german: "Nachrichtenquelle bearbeiten") dialog has a broken
tab order.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right-click a feed and choose "edit feed" (or simply press F2)
2. press the tab key multiple times, and observe what gets selected

OBSERVED RESULT
- "name" gets seleted when the dialog opens - good
- pressing tab leads to the "comment" field (skipping "address")
- pressing tab once more leads to the OK button (skipping the checkboxes)

The "address" field and the two checkboxes get skipped.

EXPECTED RESULT
When pressing tab, the fields should be selected in the order as they are
displayed in the dialog:
Name -> address -> comment -> user-defined interval [if enabled: time input
field -> unit dropdown] -> tell about new articles -> OK

[kmail2] [Bug 388440] New: scrolling in KMail: "page down" only works once

2018-01-01 Thread Christian Boltz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388440

Bug ID: 388440
Summary: scrolling in KMail: "page down" only works once
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@cboltz.de
  Target Milestone: ---

[initially reported as https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1074271 ]

Since a few days / some openSUSE Tumbleweed snapshots (looking at
/var/log/zypp/history, the Qt and KDE updates in 20171223 might be a candidate)
I noticed a funny scrolling problem in KMail.

When reading a long mail (for example a Tumbleweed snapshot announcement), I
can scroll down with the "page down" key exactly once. Pressing page down again
does nothing, even if there's enough text left to scroll down.

If I scroll up again, the "page down" key works again exactly once to scroll to
the "second page", and then it stops to work.

I can scroll down with the "down arrow" key (slowly of course) until the end of
the mail.

Scrolling with the mouse also works until the end of the mail - both by
clicking the scrollbar and by using the mouse wheel.

Oh, and if I scrolled down with the down key or the mouse, pressing "page up"
brings me to the beginning of the mail, as if I had only scrolled down by one
page. Even more funny - pressing "page down" scrolls up to the second page.

This bug was confirmed by some people on the opensuse-factory mailinglist.

Luca Beltrame also confirmed this bug on the current git master state,
therefore I set the version to git instead of 5.7.0 which is currently in
Tumbleweed.

FYI: I just had another crash when middle-clicking a link (this time in the

- this happens independent of the feed
- this is at least sometimes reproducible

Another interesting detail might be that both crashes happened after I used
Akregator for a while.

Please define "close manually" ;-)
a) click the "x" icon to close the window
b) press Alt+F4
c) press Ctrl+q
d) using the menu File - Quit

a) and b) only close the main window, Akregator will still run and display its
tray icon.

c) and d) will really quit Akregator - and after closed this way, I've never
seen the trashed feed list IIRC.

(initially reported as http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1046966 )

Since I installed the 20170613 openSUSE Tumbleweed snapshot, Akregator
looses/breaks its feed list. The only good thing is that the error message
mentions the exact filename (~/.local/share/akregator/data/feeds.opml) so that
it's easy to restore from my backup.

The not-so-good thing is that Akregator even breaks the backup file, so when
this happens, both feeds.opml and the feeds.opml-backup.* file are only one
byte (hexdump says "000a", so just a newline).

I had to restore the file several times already. I'm not 100% sure, but I
wouldn't be surprised if the file gets damaged on logout/shutdown.
Explicitely exiting Akregator (by pressing Ctrl-Q) before logging out seems to
avoid the breakage.

After restoring feeds.opml, Akregator can be started normally and shows all my
feeds.

This bug was confirmed by multiple users on opensuse-factory, both with
Tumbleweed and with 42.2 + KDE:Frameworks5.

When moving (by drag & drop) emails from a folder (say 'inbox') to another (say
'filtered'), the emails are moved, but marked as unread in the new location,
before after a few seconds they reappear, duplicated, in the original folder
and marked as unread as well (even if they were marked as read before).

The emails are all local, no remote server involved. Emails were fetched from a
POP3 account before.

[end copy&paste]

In my case, I moved the mails from a local folder to a folder in an IMAP
account, and they re-appeared in the local folder.

Note: This doesn't happen always. Moving _lots of mails_ (select 30 mails, move
them at once) makes this more likely to happen.

In my case, I moved the mails from a local folder to a folder in an IMAP
account, and they re-appeared in the local folder.

Note: This doesn't happen always. Moving _lots of mails_ (select 30 mails, move
them at once) makes this more likely to happen.

Just tested (in KMail 5.3.0, Frameworks 5.25.0) - the strange behaviour of

The "Version" dropdown doesn't offer 5.3.0, and it's unlikely that this was

In the meantime (5 years later, Akregator 5.2.3), the main progress meter just
shows a running bar (without any progress indication or percentage), which
means it isn't too useful.

I agree with the initial bugreport that the progress meter should show a
percentage that is based on "x of y feeds fetched successfully".

(copy&paste of my mail to opensuse-factory)

I created a repo with the previous version of libxapian, and akonadi-*
and baloo linkpac'd from Factory (so rebuilt against the old libxapian):

https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:cboltz:branches:openSUSE:Factory
Packages at

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/cboltz:/branches:/openSUSE:/Factory/standard/

Since I installled these packages (using zypper dup --from), I didn't
see any akonadi crashes.

If someone wants to use the fixed packages _now_: I'll keep the repo
as long as it's useful for me ;-)

-> this is clearly caused by the libxapian update (libxapian22 -> libxapian30)

BTW: Aitor's backtrace looks like the other backtraces in this bugreport, but
without debuginfo packages installed. I've seen something similar before
installing the debuginfo packages.

I hit this bug (on openSUSE Tumbleweed) and tried this (I moved

After starting akonadi and kmail, unfortunately it only took a minute until

Bug ID: 364119

   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Created attachment 99419
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=99419&action=edit
example message to reproduce the bug (mail addresses changed, Received:-headers
removed)

I recently upgraded to KMail 5.2.1 from the KDE Applications 16.04.1 release.

This is a regression somewhere between KMail from KDE Applications 15.12.2 and
16.04.1.

The commit notifications sent out by launchpad are Content-Type:
multipart/mixed with two sections: 1. a text/plain part that contains the
commit message etc. and
2. a text/x-diff section that contains the actual change in unified diff format
(I'll attach a sample mail)

Since the update to KDE Applications 16.04.1 (I never tested 16.04), KMail
displays those mails with wrong content order:
1. the diff
2. the diff, again
3. the commit message

Expected behaviour (worked in 15.12.2): display the mails in the order as
defined in the mail, which means
1. the commit message
2. the diff

In KMail 4.x, the "messages" menu in the composer had the following menu items:

- send email
- send email with [transport submenu]
- send later
- send later with [transport submenu]

In KMail 5.1.1, the "send email" menu item is missing, so you can't send a mail
now with the default transport.

The workaround is to use the toolbar or the keyboard shortcut, but I'd like to
have the menu entry back ;-)

apply button
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.1

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: config dialog
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@cboltz.de

In the KMail settings dialog, you can setup a warning if keys or certificates
expire soon. Unfortunately, changing those values doesn't enable the 'apply'
button and also doesn't cause a question when switching to another part of the
config dialog.

Reproducer:
- open the KMail config dialog
- go to "security"
- go to the "misc" tab
- in the "warn if certificates/keys expire soon", change one of the values (for
example 20 days instead of 14)

Expected results:
- the 'apply' button gets enabled
- when switching to another area of the config dialog (for example
"idendities"), KMail asks if the changes should be saved

Actual result: none of the above

The good news is that the changed values get saved when clicking the "OK"
button.

This patch seems to work - "Sign message" is now always enabled in the composer

"Automatically sign messages". Also, when replying to a signed mail, "Sign

Notes:
- I tested this patch with various combinations (folder using an idendity with

reply), and it seems to do the expected thing everywhere
- I'm not a C or C++ developer, so please double-check the patch - even if it's
short and seems to work, it's still copy&paste-programming ;-)

KMail 4.14.10 on KDE 4.14.14 on openSUSE Tumbleweed

In one of my idendities, I have set my PGP key and enabled the "Automatically
sign messages" option. Also, I have assigned that idendity for one IMAP account
and selected a folder inside that account.

When writing a _new_ message, the editor opens with the "Sign message" button
pre-selected - as expected. Good.

However, when I reply to a message, the editor always opens with the "Sign
message" button _not_ selected. Bad. This even happens when replying to signed
mails, which enables the "Sign message" button in other folders if using an
idendity without the "Automatically sign message" setting. Bad again.

Reproducer:
- setup an idendity with "Automatically sign messages" and your GPG key
- assign that idendity to an IMAP account (assigning to a folder might be
enough)
- store at least two mails in that folder, one GPG-signed, one not signed.
- reply to both mails
- in the mail editor, check if the "Sign message" button is pre-selected

Expected behaviour:
The mail editor should have the "Sign message" button pre-selected because of
the idendity settings (remember: the idendity has "Automatically sign message"
set)

Same bug here with KDE 4.13.0 and KDE 4.13 on openSUSE Factory.

This happens (nearly?) always when
a) I move around multiple mails at once (moving a single mail seems to be
boomerang-free)
b) the folder has a high throughput (like the inbox, where the mails arrive and
later get moved or filtered away)
c) the folder contains lots of mails (>1000 seem to be a good reproducer)

I also verified that moving the mails one by one is boomerang-free - but that's
a very annoying and time-consuming workaround when moving 50 mails :-/

hefee_ on #kontact has the same problem with KDE 4.12 / kmail 4.12.2 - he
confirmed a) and is not sure about b). c) seems not to be necessary - hefee_
also had this bug when moving nearly all mails in a folder with about 20 mails.

The "broken" ~/.config/akonadi has lots of agent_config_akonadi*.dat files with

2014-04-09 Thread Christian Boltz

Bug ID: 333239
Summary: akonadi refuses to start after disk was full
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.12
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@cboltz.de

My disk ran full while akonadi and kmail were running.

The symptoms I noticed were that kmail wasn't able to display mail content
anymore - I'd guess because it tried to write them to a tempfile on the full
disk first.

After freeing some disk space again, akonadi refuses to start.

The debug output shows that it tries to start a mysql instance (which fails),
however I had it configured to use the system-wide mysql.

In other words: akonadi destroyed its config file when the disk was full!

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start akonadi and kmail, ideally with akonadi configured to use the
system-wide mysql
2. let another process fill up your disk (if you don't have a better idea, dd
if=/dev/zero of=~/fill-my-disk)
3. quit kmail and akonadi
4. (try to) restart akonadi

Expected Results:
The config file should not be destroyed when the disk is full.

###+++--- GPGConf ---+++### Fr 27 Sep 2013 17:51:54 CEST
# GPGConf edited this configuration file.
# It will disable options before this marked block, but it will
# never change anything below these lines.

Note that the mentioned time is very close to comment #6.
What did I do before writing the comment? Well, I checked what the GnuPG Log
watch (binary "watchgnupg", "GnuPG-Protokollanzeige" in german KMail) tells me
about an inline-signed mail.

And indeed, after starting GnuPG log watch again, I have a fresh "log-file
socket://..." line in gpg.conf - and KMail no longer displays the mail as
signed.

So basically this bug consists of 3 bugs:
a) kwatchgnupg changes the gpg.conf in a way that breaks KMail
(by adding the lines quoted above)
b) kwatchgnupg does not undo its change at exit, which means the then
   dead socket stays in gpg.conf
c) KMail does not display any notice about the failed gpg call - it should
display a yellow border and tell me that it couldn't check the signature)

For c), see also [1] from comment 7:
"If the output from STDERR cannot be parsed due to an error in gpg,
kmail internally does not set the flag that the mail was signed at all"

BTW: I wasn't aware that some KMail developers listened to my "1001 bugs - or:
the golden rules of bad programming" talk at oSC11 or LinuxTag 2012. Rule 21
said:
Users hate error messages
Conclusion: never print an error message. Fail silently instead
;-))
--

To make it clear: The reproducer is to start kwatchgnupg which adds the
"log-file socket:///home/cb/.gnupg/log-socket" line to ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf

There was another report of duplicate outbox on the opensuse-de mailinglist.
The workaround from comment #4 helped, but additionally logging out and in was
needed (I'd guess restarting akonadi and kmail would have been enough).

quoting from IRC:
[23:45:01] there was a bugfix on July 27 that maybe could solve your
problem

(that means _after_ 4.11 RC2)

A July 28 snapshot at least gave me a different set of error messages ;-)

After some more debugging on IRC (thanks dvratil and montel!) we found out that
I had (for some unknown reason) two outbox folders. Deleting one of them solved
the problem for me.

Short howto:
- start akonadiconsole
- go to the "browser" tab
- check that you have only one inbox, outbox etc. folder - if you have more
than one, delete the duplicate (if it contains mails, move them away first)

@Poborskiii: Does updating to a newer snapshot and/or removing duplicate
folders solve your problem?

[kmail2] [Bug 322958] New: KMail unuseable, eats CPU - endless loop "Emitting defaultFoldersChanged"

2013-07-29 Thread Christian Boltz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322958

Bug ID: 322958
Summary: KMail unuseable, eats CPU - endless loop "Emitting
defaultFoldersChanged"
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11 rc2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@cboltz.de

(also reported as https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=830661 )

I'm using openSUSE Factory + KDE:Distro:Factory repo (contains KDE 4.10.97 =
4.11 rc2). The symptoms first appeared a week ago with openSUSE Factory and KDE
4.10.90.

KMail is unuseable because:
- kmail, akonadiserver and mysql eat up my cpu
- kmail takes ages to display a mail (more than a minute)
(the list of mails in a folder is displayed quickly when changing folders)
- it's impossible to send a mail - the composer window stays open (greyed out)
forever, but the mail isn't sent (I killed kmail after maybe 10 minutes)

In other words: KMail from KDE 4.10.9x is completely unuseable on my system :-(
- I have to use webmail for now.

This happens with an existing user, with some GB of mails.
(With a new test user, KMail doesn't eat up the CPU - but the test user does
not have any mails.)

After enabling debugging, kmail prints the following lines in the konsole in an
endless loop:

kmail2(8128)/libakonadi Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsPrivate::emitChanged:
Emitting defaultFoldersChanged.
kmail2(8128)/libakonadi Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsPrivate::emitChanged:
Emitting changed for "akonadi_maildir_resource_1"

Any ideas how to get a useable KMail again are more than welcome ;-)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start KMail on my system (yes, I know this isn't very helpful - sorry for
that ;-)

Are you aware that KMail offers multiple ways for reply? Right-click a message
and check the "reply" submenu. Options are:
- Reply
- Reply to author
- Reply to all
- Reply to mailinglist

AFAIK "Reply" is the default action when pressing "r", which defaults to reply
to the mailinglist if it finds a mailinglist header like List-Post. You might
want to use "Reply to author" instead, and maybe change the "r" shortcut to it.
(Needless to say that the behaviour of "Reply" isn't the best idea IMHO.)

Summary: KMail replies to wrong mail after switching tabs
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux

  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
 Component: UI
   Product: kmail2

When using multiple tabs (with different folders) in KMail and replying to a
mail, KMail replies to the last-selected mail even if you switched to another
tab before.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open at least two tabs in kmail and select different folders (let's say
"kde" in the first tab and "opensuse" in the second tab)
2. select the "kde" tab
3. select a mail by clicking it in the message list
4. switch to the other ("opensuse") tab
5. press "r" or click the reply button in the toolbar
Actual Results:
The editor window contains a reply to the mail you selected in the "kde" folder
before switching tabs.

I know it's a config option.

I know, but please read the bugreport again ;-)

Short summary:This feature is only useful for proportional width fonts, and
should be ignored for fixed fonts.

Expected behaviour IMHO (always assuming it's enabled in the config):
a) use smaller font size for quotes when proportional font is used
b) do _not_ use smaller font size if I switch to a fixed width font [1] (which
I typically do to see what is "underlined" with )
c) use smaller font size again after switching back to proportional font

The quick search in KMail2 still doesn't offer an option to only display
messages that are marked as read (which is very similar to "unmarked", but
unmarked also covers things like "not tagged important").

I see two possible ways to implement it:

a) easy: add "read" (= not new) to the dropdown

b) more complex, but also more powerful: add a "[x] NOT" checkbox to each
option in the dropdown - this allows to search for mails that are "NOT new",
"NOT answered" etc.

[Bug 298677] New: Website opened in tab can change font in Akregator's preview panel

2012-04-23 Thread Christian Boltz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298677

Bug ID: 298677
  Severity: critical
   Version: unspecified
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Website opened in tab can change font in Akregator's
preview panel
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: kde-b...@cboltz.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
 Component: internal browser
   Product: akregator

I'm using the latest openSUSE KDE 4.8.2 packages (from KDE:Distro:Factory) and
Akregator 4.8.2.

I was quite "surprised" to see a very different font than usual in Akregator's
HTML preview area. It turned out that a page I had previously read in a tab
changed the preview area's font.

I'll attach a RSS feed as (half a) reproducer and a screenshot with shows the
normal and the changed font side by side. However you'll need the website
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/04/12/governor-jan-brewer-signs-arizona-s-extreme-new-abortion-law.html
(linked in the reproducer RSS) to reproduce the issue - in other words: please
check this before the page is modified or deleted ;-)

The only way to reset the font is to restart Akregator.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. add the attached file as feed to Akregator (using
file:///path/to/the/attached.rss)
2. select the article in this feed
3. in the preview area, click the "In Arizona gilt jetzt [...]" link to open it
in a new tab
4. switch to the newly opened tab
5. switch back to the article overview and check the preview area
Actual Results:
The website opened in a tab somehow changed the font in the preview area.

Expected Results:
A website opened in a tab should NEVER be able to modify the preview area.

I'm rating this as critical because it could be a security issue. A website
opened in a tab should never be able to modify the preview area, and I'm afraid
it could change more than just the font...

[Bug 288368] New: KMail conflict dialog hard to read (different column widths)

2011-12-06 Thread Christian Boltz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=288368

Summary: KMail conflict dialog hard to read (different column
widths)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde-b...@cboltz.de

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

(initially reported as https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=734595 )

The KMail 2 conflict dialog (when KMail detects that it has possibly stored 2
copies of a mail (or something like that) and asks which one to keep) is very
hard to read.

The reason is that the columns showing the two mails have a different width
(see screenshot at https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=465660 ),
which means you can't directly visually compare both mails.

I'd propose the following changes:

1. easy to do and very useful: give both columns the same width

2. also easy: increase the default window size of the conflict dialog

3. harder: additionally implement highlighting of the differences - maybe you
can reuse kdiff3 for that?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Hiding the tab bar can be done with prefererences - appearance - message list -
show subwindow bar only if needed (german: "Unterfensterleiste für die
Nachrichtenliste nur bei Bedarf anzeigen")

Unless I missed something, it looks like everything you asked for is
implemented.

If something is still missing in the latest version of KMail, please open a new
bugreport/wish against kmail2. KMail 1 is out of maintenance, especially when
it comes to wishes.

[Bug 285462] New: KMail shows previous mail when switching between tabs

2011-11-01 Thread Christian Boltz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285462

Summary: KMail shows previous mail when switching between tabs
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde-b...@cboltz.de

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

(Initially reported as https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=72 )

I'm using the tabbed interface in KMail.
(You can enable it in prefererences - appearance - message list - show
subwindow bar only if needed (german: "Unterfensterleiste für die
Nachrichtenliste nur bei Bedarf anzeigen") <-- _remove_ the checkmark)

When I switch between tabs, the message preview area is not updated - it still
shows the last viewed mail from the previously used tab.
I have to select another mail to update the message preview area.

FYI: This is a regression compared to the "good old"[tm] kmail1 from KDE 4.6.x.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open at least two tabs in kmail and select different folders
2. select a mail
3. switch to the other tab

Actual Results:
the mail from the previous tab/folder is still displayed

Expected Results:
display mail from current tab/folder

Migration of "normal" IMAP accounts also fails, see
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=662851 for details (well, the error
message of the migration dialog isn't too helpful).

IMHO the default button when pressing enter should be the "OK" button, not the
cancel button (which is mapped to the Esc key already).

Maybe you have a good reason for making the cancel button the default button -
however, I don't see any. Please tell me if/what I have overlooked...

[Bug 211019] New: hostname not shown in POP3 / TLS error message

2009-10-18 Thread Christian Boltz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211019

Summary: hostname not shown in POP3 / TLS error message
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde-b...@cboltz.de

Version:(using KDE 4.3.1)
Installed from:SuSE RPMs

I got this (german) error message when fetching mail:
Keine Verbindung zu Rechner Der POP3-Server unterstützt kein TLS.
Deaktivieren Sie TLS, wenn Sie eine Verbindung ohne Verschlüsselung
aufnehmen
möchten..

Translated:
No connection to host the POP3 server does not support TLS. Deactivate TLS to
start a connection without encryption...

Unfortunately the error message is not very useful for me. I have about 10
accounts spread over 5 servers, and the error message does not show the server
name. This means I'll have to test the accounts one by one until I find the
broken server.

Please fix the error message - it should include the server and/or account
name.

[Bug 210827] New: KMail pop3 filter: focus on help button

2009-10-16 Thread Christian Boltz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210827

Summary: KMail pop3 filter: focus on help button
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde-b...@cboltz.de

Version:(using KDE 4.3.1)
Installed from:SuSE RPMs

When the pop3 filter dialog of KMail pops up, the focus is on the help button.
This is annoying when I want to postpone downloading the listed mails - if I
press enter, the help is started instead of closing the dialog.

Reproducer:
- have a big mail in your pop3 mailbox so that the pop3 filter dialog
  appears
- press enter

expected result:
- same as clicking the OK button

actual result:
- help window opens (because initial focus is on the help button)

Note: When I do change the download status for at least one mail by clicking
one of the radiobuttons in the mail list, return "presses" the OK button.
This means: if you change the initial focus not to be on the help button, it
should work.

This bugreport is now over two years old, and should be easy to fix by editing
a text file.

Can someone please remove this egoistic tip from the KMail tips?
