Installed from:Gentoo Packages
OS:Linux

I want to apply filters to all incoming email like the label in the filter
dialog states instead of applying it to all incoming mail, the filters get only
applied to all incoming mail that happens to be in the inbox folder.

I use a detached imap account with server side filtering to move my mail to
appropriate folders on the server.
When I fetch it, I want to apply local filters also like running bogofilter.
This is not possible on folders others than the inbox folder.

Either this is a wrong label description bug in the settings dialog, or
this is a bug because the program does not do what the label states.

I really would like to see that filtering working...

You are right in a sense that a server side MOVE command is not in rfc 1730 yet
it can be emulated by running a server side COPY and then deleting the source.

While this may not be perfect, it is much better imho than uploading every
message again just because of moving it to a different folder.

I know that sylpheed-claws does not require me to re-upload a message when
moving mails.

Please reopen.

I use a tiling window manager. Whenever I create a new Mail the kmail main
window is resized to fit the screen next to the new mail window.
While this is happening the column width of the mail list view get adapted to
the new size of the main window.
All is well so far, but when I send the mail and the main window is resized
back to its original size, the column width of said columns is not adjusted
back.

The expected behavior is that the column width is adjusted automatically on all
changes of the width of the main window.

it would be cool to have support for the following use case:

mail receives in the inbox and then gets processed (answered) by the user. The
user moves then the resulting thread (his own mail and the mail he just acted
upon) to a folder called "processing" when done.

When the other person replies back currently his mail appears in the inbox
breaking the thread.
It would be cool if there was a way for kmail to find that thread in a specific
"processing" and automatically putting the next answer there to not break
threads.

This would support the getting things done workflow from within kmail.

kmail takes a long time to display gpg signed and also gpg encrypted emails.
I believe this is due to gpg being use synchronously.
It would be nice if the mail was displayed in a quick way and then the
signature check would be deferred until after the user can read it.

So if it takes 3 seconds to check the signature the user can already read the
mail.

kmail seems to be unresponsive and slow while using up all cpu time on one
core.
This can happen for both: displaying the contents of a mail folder and
displaying a message.

Both can take between 2 and 20 seconds.
Today I had this happen displaying the contents of a folder having 150 plain
text emails.
Then selecting an email to get it displayed took another 10 seconds.

The system was idle otherwise only burning cpu for kmail.

this is still valid.
Even worse quoting seems to depend on window size.
If I reply to a message with long lines and send my reply while the current
window layout causes lines to be wrapped, they are wrapped like that in the
mail also.

Therefore the behavior is inconsistend, hence a bug. Please change Severity
