I have the same problem. I am sometimes not able to send or receive Emails.
Every day after I restarted my openSUSE leap 4.3 system it works oke. After
some time, an hour +, it starts failing. The only way I can get it to work
again is completelly logout, wait a few minutes and login again or Send a Email
to myself that ends up waiting in error in my mail-out box (Time out while
logging on smtp-sever), disconnect my wireless network, wait a few minutes and
restart the wireless network. I get than a popup message telling me that the
send program for Emails is offline. Emails can not be send. The system asks
whether I want to set it online. If I do that it works oke for some time and
than the problem start over again.
Why is the mail sending program put offline and not automatically put online
again after the cause off putting it offline disappeared.
What is the command to put the the mail sending program on line again or better
so is there a menu item to do it or a pop up button once the mail sending
program is put offline.

This bug makes using Kontact_Kmail very user unfriendly.

[kontact] [Bug 316143] New: System does not display (More than one?) Upcoming Special dates

2013-03-04 Thread Frans Leerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316143

Bug ID: 316143
Summary: System does not display (More than one?) Upcoming
Special dates
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: summary
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: f.leer...@xs4all.nl

In my contacts I have the birthday of my sister and brother entered and the
summary configuration specify that all Upcoming special dates should be
reported for the coming 7 days.

It is now monday and to morrow is my sisters birthday and my brothers birthday
is coming saturday.
1 With the mentioned settings only my brothers birtday is shown as Upcoming
Special date.
2 I have changed the configuration step by step from 7 to 1 days (and shutdown
and restarted Kontact) and with 4, 3, 2 and 1days the system displayed my
sisters birthday as Upcoming Special date. With 7, 6 and 5 days my brothers
birtday is shown as Upcoming Special date.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create 2 contacts with birthdays tomorrow and the other 4 days later.
2. Configure kontact-summary-UpcomingSpecialDates with 7 days
3 Shutdown/restart Kontact and check which Upcoming Special Date is displayed
Actual Results:
System shows only the 4 days later one and continue to do that until the
configuration is reduced to 4 days or less and then the system shows the
Tomorrow special date

Expected Results:
Should display both Upcoming Special dates.

[Bug 296201] New: Cannot open initial 2nd mail item, after moving to trash initial 1st item of the list

2012-03-17 Thread Frans Leerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=296201

Bug ID: 296201
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.7
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Cannot open initial 2nd mail item, after moving to
trash initial 1st item of the list
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: f.leer...@xs4all.nl
  Hardware: openSUSE RPMs
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmail2

Hello,
In the incoming mail list I cannot open the initial 2nd item, after
moving to trash the 1st item of the list.
To read the initial 2nd item I have to select first an other mail item
and than reselect the initial 2nd item.
I read my mail on a separate screen.

HOW TO CREATE THIS PROBLEM
1. Read 1st mail item of the list, return to the list and move 1st item
to trash
2. Select initial 2nd item for reading on seperate screen
3.

WHAT HAPPENED
At the end of step 1 the 1 st mail item of list is moved to trash and
deleted from the list
In step 2 system does not display, the selected, initial 2nd item on
separate screen

WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED
That in step 2 the initial 2nd item is displayed on the separate screen

REMARKS
To overcome this problem I have first to select an other item of the
list (without reading) and than reselect the initial 2nd item

[Bug 286196] New: No mail receipt on a fresh installed openSUSE 12.1 and KDE 4.7.2 -- no crash

Version: 1.99.0 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

Hello,

I made a new install of openSUSE 12.1-RC2 and KDE 4.7.2 All used partions are
newly formatted, so no previous data to convert.

1 I can send mails after initial configuration.
2 I can make new entries in address book
3 I cannot receive mails send to me from external systems nor mails created
via point 1. In the beginning I saw some notion in the system message
corner ( 0 %) but after resolving the password issue with KWallet I do
not see any sign from the system upon clicking the check(receive) mail
button and also no received mails. In the receive mail configuration I
  have set the following:
a In receiving tab:
Account: Receiving Frans -- off-line -- with detais:
   Account name: Receiving Frans
   Incoming mail server:pop.xs4all.nl
   Username: xxx
   Password: yyy via kwallet
Destination Folder: inbox from Local Folders
   Port:110
Account: Local Folders -- Ready with information about:
   Mail Dir: /home/frans/.local/share/local-mail/

How can I get account Receiving Frans from the off-line stage to ready. In the
file menu there is an entry activated with work off-line. If I deactivate this
and go again in the file menu and click check mail(receive) a pop-up window
askes to work on-line or off-line. Clicking on-line generates the following
message in the msg window:

Kmail is set to work on line, all network jobs resumed.

The file menu again shows works off-line entry activated ?

What is wrongly set, please advice

[Bug 240154] Kontact crashed while shutting down and crashed again while starting it up after system start

2010-06-01 Thread Frans Leerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=240154

--- Comment #3 from Frans Leerink f leerink xs4all nl 2010-06-01 16:22:20 ---
Hello,

Further investigation learned me the following. This crash of Kontact happened
allways during shutdown of the system while Kontact was running and allways
during the 1st start of Kontact after the system was started up. The subsequent
start of Kontact was possible without crash but resulted in the bug 232047 --
Sometimes very high CPU-Consumption by XOrg and plasma-desktop 49-53% resp.
41-43%

I have now found out that I can suppress the crashing by disabeling Feeds in
Kontact/Summary/Settings/Configure Kontact/Feeds. As soon as I enable it again
and go to the Feeds application Kontact crash again. I have saved the crash
report abd will add it as an attachment.

Regards, Frans

Kontact crashed while shutting down and Kontact crashed again while starting up
after system start. This started to happen after a system freeze while I was
downloading a PDF document with Okular. I had to push the power button to bring
the system down. I started my System and than Kontact what triggered a Kontact
crash. Due to the bug 2023.. -high CPU consumption Xorg and plasma-desktop- I
had to start Kontact again and than shutdown and restart the the system and as
a result Kontact, but this time Kontact crashed during shutdown ans crashed
again during the next start after the system was started again

Hello,

The bug I am referring to was 232047 -- Sometimes very high CPU-Consumption by
XOrg and plasma-desktop 49-53% resp. 41-43%

My system is now basically not useable due to high CPU-load or missing Kontact
functionality.

Any idea how to solve this problem.

[Bug 232047] Sometimes very high CPU-Consumption by XOrg and plasma-desktop 49-53% resp. 41-43%

2010-03-30 Thread Frans Leerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232047

--- Comment #1 from Frans Leerink f leerink xs4all nl 2010-03-30 23:29:34 ---
Hello,
I have found out how to reproduce the high CPU consumptions by the 2 processes.
It works as following:
1 I am reading in Kontact/kmail my mail messages in full screen window. After
reading the mail I click closebutton (top right) By accident I click close
again and that closes (unwanted) Kontact/Kmail
2 So I restart Kontact in the same desktop and that results in the 2 high CPU
consumption processes.

Only shutting down the system and start it again or the combined Restart
version correct the high CPU consumption situation for the 2 mentioned
processes.

Hopefully this helps.

Regards, Frans

2010-03-24 Thread Frans Leerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232047

Summary: Sometimes very high CPU-Consumption by XOrg and
plasma-desktop 49-53% resp. 41-43%
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.12.4
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: f.leer...@xs4all.nl

Version: 1.12.4 (using 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5) release 0, openSUSE 11.2)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop

Hello,

I am installing/configuring/setting up a desktop with openSUSE 11.2 / KDE 4.3.5
The computer has:
CPU Information
Processor (CPU): Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz
  Speed: 2,800.00 MHz
  Cores: 2
  Temperature: 65 °C
  Memory Information
Total memory (RAM): 2.9 GiB
Free memory: 2.2 GiB (+ 429.8 MiB Caches)
  Free swap: 2.0 GiB
OS Information
OS: Linux 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop i686
  Current user: fr...@md8800-opensuse-11-2
  System: openSUSE 11.2 (i586)
  KDE: 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5) release 0
  Display Info
Vendor: nVidia Corporation
  Model: GeForce 6700 XL
Driver: Unknown but it is NVIDIA driver

Normally the total CPU consumption is at the 2-5% level. I have noticed since I
am configuring Kontact/Kmail that sometimes the CPU consumption becomes and
stays very high. If I look with Top it shows that Xorg and plasma-desktop uses
respectively 49-53% and 41-43% of the CPU, without a high activity as far as I
know.

Sometimes if I logout as user or definitely if I shutdown and restarts the
Desktop the CPU consumption returns to and stays at the normal 2-5% level with
the same applications running (Firefox, Kontact/Kmail and Konsole)

Is there a way to find out what is going on, what causes this high load

Regards, Frans

PS I do not know whether the high CPU consumption is caused by Kontact/KMail
or that it just something new after kernel update to Linux
2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop i686

(In reply to comment #5)
This must be someway caused by your sound server not running with enough
priority. I think here is nothing kmail devs can fix.

How can I find What priority my sound server used and what should it be and
where/how can I set that

Operating System: Linux 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop i686
Distribution: openSUSE 11.2 (i586)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Hello,

After reading some newsitems from one feed I switched to an other feed and
Kontact/Akregator crashed. Normally I select with a middle mouse click the
articles that I want to read into the background tabs. I read the selected
articles and delete them from the background tabs. After that or just before
reading the articles I select most of the time all articles from the feed
involved and flag them as read. After that I switch to an other feed and than
very often Kontact/Akregator crashed.

Regards, Frans

[Bug 222140] New: Kontact Akregator chashed while i switched from one feed to another feed

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222140

Summary: Kontact Akregator chashed while i switched from one
feed to another feed
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: f.leer...@xs4all.nl

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.2
KDE Version: 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) release 6
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop i686
Distribution: openSUSE 11.2 (i586)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I finished reading articles from one feed and selected an other feed to display
article list and thanKontact/Akregator crashed.
This time I have not used Ctrl-E to flag articles as read on the old feed,
since I actually readed all articles from the old feed.
This time I did not have selected any article, with a middle mouse click, from
the new feed for bacground tab-reading.

Hopefully this helps

[Bug 221597] New: Kontact Akregator crashed after changing feeds

2010-01-06 Thread Frans Leerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=221597

Summary: Kontact Akregator crashed after changing feeds
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: f.leer...@xs4all.nl

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.2
KDE Version: 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) release 6
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop i686
Distribution: openSUSE 11.2 (i586)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Hello,

I was reading articles from various feeds from summary level eg Novell with 5
detail feeds.I switched for the 3rd time from summary level and at that moment
Kontact/Akregator crashed. Normally I select with clicking with the scroll
wheel which articles I want to read from background tab. Before or after
reading I flag (all) summary level articles as read by pressing Cntr-E after
selecting them.

This does not happen all the times I read articles via Akregator but still
quite often and it causes 95% of the crashes I experience.

Hopefully this helps

Regards, Frans

[Bug 217388] Scolling with mousewheel in KMail opened Linux ToDay Newsletter distorts music played with Amarok

--- Comment #4 from Frans Leerink f leerink xs4all nl 2009-12-08 11:27:36 ---
Hello Bjoern,

Open the attached file id 38835 with kmail as proposed. Open the text document
in html by clicking on body part html and then again on 2 popup windows.

If you than scroll through the articles while the computer plays in Amarok a
quiet song you should hear the twitter. You hear it also if you scroll through
the text version of the document.
It is not restricted to the Linux TODAY Newsletter, it happens allways by
reading mail via Kontact/kmail, as long I use the scrollwheel. Clicking with
the mouse on the scollbar does not cause the stutter effect.
Amarok does not stutter in other situations, like scrolling with the mouse
wheel through a large pdf document with ADOBE Reader.

Hopefully this helps

Regards, Frans

singing. Every mousewheel click causes 3-5 disruptions/breakages)

I will attach a screen copy of the newsletter and a copy of the newsletter

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Hello, I was reading feeds in akregator ans than Kontact and Akregator crashed.
I noticed a few minutes before about 20 double feeds. Normally I read my feeds
by selection first the ones I want to read and put them with a middle mouse
click in a background tab.
Initially I have tried to set up the the background tab reading method behind
the left mouse click but that did not work so as a result of this I put it
behind the middle mouse click.

This problem occurs a few times a week
Often the bug report is of no value. How can I improve that.

Regards, Frans
