[kmail2] [Bug 482568] Links don't convert cursor to a hand, and don't open when clicked
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482568 --- Comment #11 from Garry Williams --- One other problem doesn't seem to be mentioned here: the old behavior opened the link in the background and DID NOT CHANGE FOCUS. Now, no matter how it's done, if a link is opened, focus immediately changes to browser. I suppose there may be an argument for immediately changing focus, but this is a regression from many years of no focus change. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[kmail2] [Bug 480984] Composer Broken on Wayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480984 --- Comment #4 from Garry Williams --- I suspect this bug is related to using an external editor instead of the built-in kmail composer. I have been configured to use vim to compose mail messages in kmail for years. I notice that when I close the editor, the composer window is not updated with my edits. If I around to the composer window again, it now shows the editor session I just closed. Perhaps won't fix? Withdraw option altogether? My work-around is to use the /usr/bin/mail command. I believe that program was originally released in UNIX and later in Linux well before 2000. POSIX standardized it as /usr/bin/mailx in 1997. I am unaware of any bugs in that program. Perhaps it could serve as an example how to process a mbox resource? I would be happy to assist in any way I can. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 428303] New: Threading Broken When Using Clone of Standard Mailing List
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428303 Bug ID: 428303 Summary: Threading Broken When Using Clone of Standard Mailing List Product: kmail2 Version: 5.13.2 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: gtwilli...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Message threading is broken when using a clone of Standard Mailing List Aggregation. Threading is flawless all the time when using Standard Mailing List Aggregation. Clone the aggregation and now new messages sometimes do not end up threaded correctly and look like a new thread altogether. All attributes are identical to shipped Standard Mailing List Aggregation. As an aside, creating a brand new Aggregation with identical attributes also results in broken threading. It seems the only way to get flawless threading is to use the built-in Standard Mailing List Aggregation. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Clone Standard Mailing List Aggregation 2. Select Clone for aggregation 3. OBSERVED RESULT Some messages do not appear in their correct threads and end up being thread leaders instead. EXPECTED RESULT Threading works as with the Standard Mailing List Aggregation. (Since the clone is identical in every respect that can be known from the UI.) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 5.8.16-200.fc32.x86_64, kmail kmail2 5.13.2 (19.12.2) (available in About System) KDE Frameworks 5.73.0 Qt 5.14.2 (built against 5.14.2) The xcb windowing system plasma-desktop-5.18.5-2.fc32.x86_64 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This has been broken for quite a while now. I do not know when it was introduced. I want to clone Standard Mailing List because I want threads expanded all the time. That option is not set in the shipped Standard Mailing List Aggregation and it cannot be changed without cloning a new Aggregation. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[kmail2] [Bug 341114] New: Focus Jumps To Another Message Spontaneously When Server Refresh
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341114 Bug ID: 341114 Summary: Focus Jumps To Another Message Spontaneously When Server Refresh Product: kmail2 Version: 4.14.2 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: gtwilli...@gmail.com Occasionally focus is changed to another (seemingly random) message spontaneously. It seems to happen when the IMAP (Gmail) server is refreshing. I believe that focus always lands on an already-read message. This is very irritating since I now need to find the message I was reading before to resume. This bug is fairly old, probably since KDE 4 originally shipped in Fedora. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Read mail 2. Wait for refresh 3. Repeat It doesn't always happen on a refresh. I have no idea what the triggering conditions are. :-( Actual Results: Message list focus jumps to another message. Expected Results: Leave focus on the message I'm reading until I change it. Maybe automatic expiration (moving message to local folder) is also triggering event, but not sure. I have many folders in Gmail set to expire message older than a few months by moving them to a local folder. For example, my foo folder messages migrate over time to my foo-old local folder. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Well, the behavior was fine for me for years. My work flow is now broken (http://xkcd.com/1172/). Open a new message window (ctrl-N); type in recipient(s); tab to subject and type in subject; tab to message area and tab. Now focus is in the editor. Edit message. The behavior you requested and got is fine for replying to a message since you want to start editing the reply immediately. This is different from all previous releases. I used to have to place the cursor into the edit area and hit any key to launch my editor. Furthermore, the edit buffer I get omits my signature. I have to type it in by hand. If I save and exit my editor and then press a key in the composer area again, the full edit buffer, including my signature is loaded in my editor. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure an external editor for the composer 2. Either reply to a message or create a new message 3. Actual Results: Composer window is displayed and the external editor is started immediately. The editor's buffer does not contain the signature that appears in the composer window. Expected Results: The composer window is started and the focus is in the headers. I can complete the subject and headers and then move to the edit area and hit a key to start the external editor. [Bug 169092] text entered in external editor not passed to composer window
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169092 --- Comment #10 from Garry Williams 2009-04-11 17:04:01 --- This bug is not fixed for me. Perhaps I have a version different from the version you tested against. I strace-d my kontact process and I can confirm that the E-mail program opens the editor file before fork()ing the editor and then reads the contents of that file to place in the composer screen. Since the editor renames the file it was passed and then creates a new file with the original name in which to write its changes, the E-mail program simply reads the original contents without the changes that the editor made. I am using gvim as my external editor (and calling it with the -f option to force it to run in the foreground without fork()ing). I don't think this is new behaviour for gvim -- it has always rename()ed the original file then open()ed the original file name, creating a new file, to write its changes. The fix is to assume that an external editor will create a new version of the file and open it *after* the child process exits. Kmail in KDE 3.5 did not have this bug. Here's my version information: $ kmail --version Qt: 4.5.0 KDE: 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) KMail: 1.11.2 $ kontact --version Qt: 4.5.0 KDE: 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) Kontact: 1.4.2 $ rpm -q kdepim kdepim-4.2.2-3.fc10.i386 $ Please let me know what other information you require. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 169092] text entered in external editor not passed to composer window
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169092 --- Comment #8 from Garry Williams 2009-03-22 14:42:30 --- (In reply to comment #7) > Kmail no longer has the original file open, but instead the backup file. It's even worse than that. For many years, I have configured vim to not create backup files. The (g)vim program creates a new file and renames it to the original as soon as I tell it to write my changes. Since kmail now opens the original (and unlinks it), and waits for the external process to exit, it ends up reading the original file without my saved changes. This behaviour is new since KDE 4.something. I have an older system I use at work: $ rpm -q kdepim kdepim-3.5.9-6.fc7 This version does not have the bug. Apparently, the older version uses the name (not the inode) to obtain the updated buffer after the external program exits. There is no work-around that seems possible here. The bug exists in: $ rpm -q kdepim kdepim-4.2.1-3.fc10.i386 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
