>From what I see, I cannot insert a `,` in my addresses anymore. But if someone
sends me an email where the address list as a comma in it, and I click "Reply"
to that email. Then, the comma remains in the address field and causes issues.

I have sent you the mail.
I have been able to reproduce this on multiple machines (all Archlinux though).
But since you say it is okay on your end, I need to check if this is an
Archlinux problem.

Let me check with Ubuntu machines.

2021-03-03 Thread Jayesh Badwaik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433921

Bug ID: 433921
Summary: Comma inside Quotation Marks in Recipient Name ("To"
field) leads to the sender being dropped.
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.16.1
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: j.badw...@fz-juelich.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In the "To" field, insert a name which has a comma inside it. For example,

"Badwaik, Jayesh"

The recipients gets dropped from the list of recipients in the SMTP log.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a new mail.
2. In "To" field, enter the name "Badwaik, Jayesh"
3. Send the mail.

OBSERVED RESULT
Observe that in the SMTP logs that the "To" commands of SMTP do not contain the
recipient.

You need to enable SMTP Session Logging by setting KSMTP_SESSION_LOG and
restarting akonadictl to observe this.

EXPECTED RESULT
The recipients should not be dropped.

Bug ID: 433912
Summary: Recipients randomly dropped during SMTP Transaction
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.16.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Mail Dispatcher Agent
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: j.badw...@fz-juelich.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Recipients are randomly dropped during the SMTP transaction even though they
are preserved in the message body. This causes messages to be undelivered to
only some of the recipients.

Since this is a random bug, this is not reproducible. The logs I have contain
personal information which I am not comfortable sharing in the public domain
but I can mail this to a developer if required.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Send a mail to multiple recipients.
2. Check the SMTP log obtained by setting KSMTP_SESSION_LOG
3. Look at `C: RCPT TO:` fields.
4. Compare them with `To:` fields.
5. Sometimes, randomly, there is a discrepancy.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Number of `C: RCPT TO:` entries should match the `To:` fields.

EXPECTED RESULT

sessions, I can look at it and try inspecting the logic myself.

I can confirm this problem in KDE 4.10. KMail complains explicitly while some
other services (tag kioslave) fail silently. Restarting Neopomuk does not work.
Completely stopping everything and then properly restarting services in
sequence seems to work sometimes.

I want a similar feature for me and I don't want any compromise. I want the
ability to set the rendering through a filter. I have never before done
programming for KDE but I am quiet experience in C++ and would be willing to
write a patch for the thing so if someone else is not working, I can at least
give it a shot. I am trying to read the KMail source right now and would be
delighted if someone can help me a little with it when I need help. :-)

So, just let me know what exactly is the status and I will pick it up from
there. :-)

[Bug 284183] New: Kmail does not send localmail when offline

2011-10-16 Thread Jayesh Badwaik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284183

Summary: Kmail does not send localmail when offline
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: jayesh.badwai...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

I have a local mail service setup using postfix.
It is possible to send the local mail when the computer is connected to the
network. However, it is not able to send it when the computer is offline.

I am able to send the mail when the computer is offline using the command line,
but same settings when used with kmail justs queues up the mail in the outbox.
I even tried using the sendmail sending account in kmail to specify the exact
command to be used to send the mail. However, even that does not work. It works
from the command line though.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create a local mail postfix setup as given here
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Local_Mail_Delivery_with_Postfix.

Verify the mail sends when the computer is connected to a network.
$ mail -s test user
$ sendmail -t user@localhost

Create sending accounts (both smtp and sendmail for localhost)
Verify that both work when network is connected.

Disconnect the network.
Verify the mail is sent using the mail and sendmail arguments
Try to send mail using kmail. It is not possible

Actual Results:
Mail is not sent. It gets queued up in outbox.

Expected Results:
Mail should be sent.

I think the problem is with the Mail Dispatcher Agent which goes offline in the
absence of the network. It handles all mail and it was not possible to send the
mail when mail dispatcher agent was off earlier. Either the problem is with
the mail dispatcher agent or with the kmail.

In any case, once i specify which command to use to send the mail (as I do in
the sendmail sending account in kmail, kmail should work if command works
without worrying about what the mail dispatcher says about it).
