I've got the same behaviour up to now.

KMail 5.13.3 (19.12.3)
KDE Frameworks 5.68.0
Qt 5.14.1 (kompiliert gegen 5.14.1)

The shit hits the fan when you want to move the mails back or to another sub
folder. Selecting by subject line selects and moves the wrong email, and then
the chaos is perfect.

The only way to fix the order is:
- moving the emails away using another mail client
- then let KMail recognize the empty folder
- in the next step move the emails back to the folder using the other mail
client again
- let KMail recognize the "new" emails

This is _very_ nerve-stretching, as one has to double check all email sorting
operations.

I was able to solve this by disabling all KMail plugins bit by bit.

The sharetext plugin causes the crash.

Simply move the sharetext plugin in ~/.config/pimpluginsrc from ...Enabled to
...Disabled:

[KMailPluginEditor]
  KMailEditorPluginDisabled=kmailsharetext
  KMailEditorPluginEnabled=

[kmail2] [Bug 404467] New: Kmail2 crashes on new email

2019-02-17 Thread Johannes Studt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404467

Bug ID: 404467
Summary: Kmail2 crashes on new email
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: johan...@studt.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 118147
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=118147=edit
Backtrace from pressing "New"

SUMMARY
Kmail2 crashes instantly on pressing "New email" or "Reply".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I don't know how to reproduce this.
It worked until yesterday, when I opened the settings dialog and looked through
the plugins section. Maybe I ticked some plugin I didn't use before.
Later I tried to send two PDF files from an external application by "Send as
attachment...", and Kmail crashed instantly.
Since then I can't even start it again without prior deleting all files from
~/.local/share/kmail2/autosave.

OBSERVED RESULT
Kmail2 crashes every time when I want to write an email.

EXPECTED RESULT
Composer window shall show up.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KMail Version: 5.10.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What I already tried:
- reboot several times ;)
- reset akonadi (delete whole akonadi folders in .config and .local, starting
from ground off)
- delete all kmail2 config files (kmail2rc, emailidentities)
- upgrade to the last available version from Opensuse repos

As I'm also facing this problem (and this patch hasn't landed in the distro's
package repository) I tried your work-around and consequently all works fine.
:)

Now, as I become aware of this problem much too late (and would have to
manually re-sync many e-mails in many different folders), is there a simple way
to force resync of the whole IMAP tree at once?
Forcing resync in akonadiconsole doesn't trigger a re-upload of the server-side
missing e-mails. I have to *copy* them, simply *move* them temporarily in
another folder isn't enough.

TIA, and regards,

Hannes

Confirmed.

This happens with all attachments. The attachment opens, the UI is blocked.
After closing the attachment the error message "KDEInit could not launch
'/usr/lib64/libexec/kf5/kioexec'" is displayed.

Same here.

Suspended my notebook (possibly during akonadi IMAP sync) with s2ram and then
woke it up with no network connection available. After 10-15 seconds I got
spammed with 100s notify messages. Only akonadictl stop got me rid of them.
