[kleopatra] [Bug 461071] New: Kleopatra on Tails purged all PGP keys, won't create or import new
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461071 Bug ID: 461071 Summary: Kleopatra on Tails purged all PGP keys, won't create or import new Classification: Applications Product: kleopatra Version: 3.1.11 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: aheine...@gnupg.org Reporter: antipod...@protonmail.com CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, m...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 153238 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153238&action=edit screenshot of key creation failure error message "structure needs cleaning" Hello, I'm not the most technically savvy user but hoping I can get assistance or guidance. I've been using Tails sparingly for a couple years, encrypting messages with OpenPGP and had a small collection of users public keys imported as well as my own private key. A few months ago with an upgrade to Tails I started using Kleopatra which was working well, then a couple weeks ago I went to encrypt a message and found that both my PGP key and all public keys were gone and no longer discoverable. I had not upgraded Tails in between it working and no longer working, so it was seemingly random. I've tried creating a new key and it fails with the message "Could not create key pair: Structure needs cleaning", and attempting to import a user's public key does not succeed. Tails: 5.5 - 20221013 Kleopatra 3.1.11 (20.08.3) Steps to recreate in Kleopatra: 1. File > New Key Pair... 2. Choose Format = Create a personal OpenPGP key pair 3. Added a name, clicked Next 4. Review Parameters, clicked Create 5. Entered password twice 6. Observed Result = Key Creation Failed, "Could not create key pair. Structure needs cleaning" Steps for importing: 1. Copy user's public key, paste in Text Editor, save as .asc file in persistent drive. 2. Go into Kleopatra > Import > navigate to .asc file and select to import 3. Observed Result = Results window pops up, "Total number processed: 0, Imported: 0" I would really appreciate any help figuring out why this is happening. Please let me know if you need more information from me to identify the issue, thank you!! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

KMail for the most part continues this trend. However, while the frame containing the message view scales appropriately with DPI, the message window itself does not scale appropriately with DPI. The result is a message view that is much too small for the corresponding space (and my eyes). I was unable to find if this was patched upstream. Sorry if this is a duplicate. [Bug 289084] kio_imap APPEND omits message size without flags
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289084 --- Comment #6 from Luke-Jr 2011-12-17 18:32:58 --- I'm not sure Allen's rewrite will work, unless there's some C++/Qt magic I'm unaware of... You're starting with a char, adding a QString, then a const char*. In the original version, as well as my rewrite, everything begins with a QString, so there is operator+ in effect. Perhaps more importantly, the original commit that broke this was doing something to enable some QString optimization, and I suspect this rewrite may break that. Is there a reason not to just revert this and apply my original, safer patch with `git am`? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. At least there's some code that talks about it and it works for me! Note that I had a similar looking problem when trying to connect to an LDAP server that was too old to support the paging option. So each attempt to talk to it would fail with size limit exceeded. Switching to a different ldap server 'fixed' it, but it would be useful if KDE could require the paging option. i.e. the equivalent in ldapsearch of: -E 'pr=10/noprompt' vs -E '!pr=10/noprompt' But that's a different bug -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Can I also point out again that this is a serious DATA LOSS bug? If you attempt to edit a contact stored in Google contacts (i.e. change any data stored for them) you face a high probability of clobbering existing data (phone numbers, email addresses). I've observed both the phone number list and the email address list stored on Google being truncated by just adding an e-mail address in KAddressBook. The Google contacts akonadi resource is not only rendered useless by this bug for many/most users, it is *worse* than useless - it is a liability to even have it installed. I also noticed that other data that Google contacts stores is removed when the updated contact is sent back to Google. (Ubuntu Karmic packages) to KDE 4.4.1 (Ubuntu Karmic backports). I opened the new KDE Address Book manager, and went through the process to add a "KDE Address Book (traditional)". I added the file "/home/luke/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf". However, in KMail, when I type names in a "To" field, the entries that appear do not reflect any changes I make in that address book. My address book is stuck in the state that it was in before the upgrade. On investigation, I find that the changes I make in the address book (whether new contacts or changing existing data etc) are not stored in the actual file. I'm not sure how many bugs this counts as: 1) The properties for the address book say that it is stored in "/home/luke/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf", but it clearly is not. Somehow the data is being stored elsewhere. This is a serious bug, since I expect to be able to back up my address book my backing up that file. This has already caused me some confusion and data loss I think. 2) Wherever the data is being stored, it is not being picked up by KMail. I noticed that when I add other Akonadi address book resources (e.g. Google contacts) are also not shown in KMail. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Note that I have no problem with the message preview window, it's only the composer. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 119281] kmail composer suddenly becomes very slow
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119281 --- Comment #44 from Luke Plant 2009-01-27 14:52:12 --- Additionally, the XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps fix does not work for me. I have to disable compositing (Alt-Shift-F12 in kwin) to have a comfortable email editor, and that still does not fix the PageUp/Down problem (might be separate bug). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 119281] kmail composer suddenly becomes very slow
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119281 Luke Plant L Plant 98 cantab net changed: What|Removed |Added CC||l.plant...@cantab.net --- Comment #43 from Luke Plant 2009-01-27 14:41:46 --- I am experiencing this as well with KDE 4.2 RC1 (Ubuntu Intrepid packages), kmail 1.11.0 -- especially trying to move around with arrow keys -- the composer cannot keep up if I hold an arrow key down for any length of time, so when I let go it always overshoots. Editing in general is painful. This only happens in kmail, not in any other KDE editors e.g. Kate. For the most part it is fixed by turning off compositing in kwin, but some things remain slow e.g. PageDown button -- it looks as if page down is being simulated by arrow key presses, so every PageDown seems to take at least half a second, with a lot going on visually on the screen. My graphics card is an "ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650", using the proprietary driver in Ubuntu (Intrepid), on a brand new powerful laptop (Dell Studio 17). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92619 --- Comment #92 from Luke-Jr 2008-09-18 16:28:03 --- Since this is a BUG, and on top of that a REGRESSION, I feel patches are not obsolete as long as KDE continues to maintain a version it applies to, in this case 3.5. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
