[kmailtransport] [Bug 399831] New: Hard dependency on KGAPI should be optional

2018-10-15 Thread Luke-Jr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399831

Bug ID: 399831
Summary: Hard dependency on KGAPI should be optional
   Product: kmailtransport
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org
  Target Milestone: ---

kmailtransport 18.08.2 seems to have added a hard dependency on KGAPI at some
point. KGAPI requires QtWebEngine, which is not available on my platform
(POWER9), and is in any case a security hazard. It appears KGAPI is only for
Google services I wouldn't want to use anyway.

Shouldn't it be optional?

Even when QtWebEngine is ported, I don't intend to install/use it. Javascript
is a security hazard. Same goes for QtWebKit.

Upstream Chromium seems to have major security issues every month. QtWebEngine
gets updated far less frequently, and often goes months or longer vulnerable to
easily exploited issues.

Won't you reconsider, please?

It should be supported, since requiring a huge database like MySQL on an

[Bug 288689] New: Missing "Mark Message as Read" action

2011-12-10 Thread Luke-Jr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=288689

Summary: Missing "Mark Message as Read" action
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: commands and actions
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

I prefer to mark my messages as Read only explicitly (I have the automatic
feature disabled), and I was able to add this action to my toolbar in KMail 1.
This is gone in KDE 4.7, so there is *no way at all* to mark my messages as
read (opening them in a new window also used to mark them read, but this also
no longer works).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Right-click on toolbar
"Configure Toolbars"
Look for "Mark Message as Read" in Available Actions

Actual Results:
It's not available.

Expected Results:
Find it with a search.

That was what I originally had, but I opted to reformat it slightly to make it
easier to read (as opposed to easier to compare) in hopes of avoiding a
regression like this in the future.

I would prefer whoever merges this provide proper attribution. `git am `
on my original patch will do this properly, or `git commit --author="Luke
Dashjr "` if another route is taken.

I'm not sure Allen's rewrite will work, unless there's some C++/Qt magic I'm
unaware of... You're starting with a char, adding a QString, then a const
char*. In the original version, as well as my rewrite, everything begins with a
QString, so there is operator+ in effect. Perhaps more importantly, the
original commit that broke this was doing something to enable some QString
optimization, and I suspect this rewrite may break that.

Is there a reason not to just revert this and apply my original, safer patch
with `git am`?
