[Bug 232773] KMail does not see any updates to address book since update to 4.4

4 days later, after reboots, multiple suspend/resume cycles, restarting Akonadi
several times etc, and the data still has not appeared in std.vcf, though it
still appears in KAddressBook. This is crazy.

[Bug 232773] KMail does not see any updates to address book since update to 4.4

I'm seeing this again, KDE 4.4.4. Normally, the data appears in std.vcf after a
few seconds delay, and is then accessible to KMail. But sometimes it is hours
- it is just unreliable. I have data right now that is visible in KAddressBook
that I added hours ago, but isn't in the std.vcf.

As mentioned before, this can easily cause data loss - you put data into your
address book, but there is no way to ensure that it is flushed to the file
system.

[Bug 232774] Email not shown for Google contacts with multiple e-mail addresses

2010-06-07 Thread Luke Plant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232774

--- Comment #5 from Luke Plant L Plant 98 cantab net 2010-06-08 00:41:28 ---
Still present in KDE 4.4.4. Can we move this to confirmed please - we have two
users seeing it.

Can I also point out again that this is a serious DATA LOSS bug? If you
attempt to edit a contact stored in Google contacts (i.e. change any data
stored for them) you face a high probability of clobbering existing data (phone
numbers, email addresses). I've observed both the phone number list and the
email address list stored on Google being truncated by just adding an e-mail
address in KAddressBook.

The Google contacts akonadi resource is not only rendered useless by this bug
for many/most users, it is *worse* than useless - it is a liability to even
have it installed.

I also noticed that other data that Google contacts stores is removed when the
updated contact is sent back to Google. In particular, the groups the contact
belonged to are all lost.

I have upgraded to 4.4.2 and can no longer reproduce this - the data appears in
the std.vcf file after a short delay.

KMail still does not see any other contacts apart from the ones in std.vcf,
whether from Google Contacts or if I add an Akonadi resource to a local VCF
file.

Still seeing this with KDE SC 4.4.2, even with creating a new Akonadi resource

This bug also causes data loss: if you proceed to set an e-mail address on one
of the above contacts (i.e. those having multiple addresses against them in
Google, but none of them shown in KAddressBook), when it is synchronised to
Google the address list is truncated to the new e-mail that you have entered,
thus wiping the existing data.

[Bug 232774] New: Email not shown for Google contacts with multiple e-mail addresses

2010-03-30 Thread Luke Plant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232774

Summary: Email not shown for Google contacts with multiple
e-mail addresses
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: l.plant...@cantab.net
CC: to...@kde.org

Version:(using KDE 4.4.1)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

I added an Akonadi Google Contacts Resource in the new KAddressBook, entered
my details etc.

I found that for any contact that has multiple e-mail addresses defined, none
of the e-mail addresses show up at all. In vCard terms, the contact has
multiple 'EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:' fields (when I export my Google address book).

Also, similarly, if a contact has multiple phone numbers, none of them show up.
In this case, it can be different 'types' of number in the exported vCard
e.g.:

TEL;TYPE=CELL:snipped
TEL;TYPE=PAGER:snipped

[Bug 119281] kmail composer suddenly becomes very slow

2009-03-07 Thread Luke Plant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119281

--- Comment #50 from Luke Plant L Plant 98 cantab net 2009-03-07 15:56:37 ---
I managed to improve my graphics drivers, and the problem has gone away for me.

(Details: I'm running KDE 4.2.1, Ubuntu Jaunty (pre-release), graphics card ATI
Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650, using new radeonhd driver as
described here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/334101 )

So this is definitely related to hardware acceleration, but kmail is unusual in
that it has such bad performance with some graphics cards/drivers, when no
other text editor is like that.

BTW, the strange behaviour of page up/page down is still the same for me. The
scrolling is now fast enough to be tolerable, but it is not ideal. I didn't
see this in KDE 3.5.

I still experience this with open source drivers (radeon, radeonhd), which
don't even support compositing (at the moment).

On Ubuntu Jaunty (pre-release).

No, I don't have smooth scrolling enabled (AFAIK - I can't find any way in
KMail to set this). Note that I have no problem with the message preview
window, it's only the composer.

I am experiencing this as well with KDE 4.2 RC1 (Ubuntu Intrepid packages),
kmail 1.11.0 -- especially trying to move around with arrow keys -- the
composer cannot keep up if I hold an arrow key down for any length of time, so
when I let go it always overshoots. Editing in general is painful. This only
happens in kmail, not in any other KDE editors e.g. Kate.

For the most part it is fixed by turning off compositing in kwin, but some
things remain slow e.g. PageDown button -- it looks as if page down is being
simulated by arrow key presses, so every PageDown seems to take at least half a
second, with a lot going on visually on the screen.

My graphics card is an ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650, using
the proprietary driver in Ubuntu (Intrepid), on a brand new powerful laptop
(Dell Studio 17).

--- Comment #44 from Luke Plant L Plant 98 cantab net 2009-01-27 14:52:12 ---
Additionally, the XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps fix does not work for me. I have to
disable compositing (Alt-Shift-F12 in kwin) to have a comfortable email editor,
and that still does not fix the PageUp/Down problem (might be separate bug).
