Short version: In version 2.0.95 KMail somehow put some mails which were supposed to be stored in my IMAP Trash folder in the local folders ("KMail Folders") trash folder. But I couldn't see them. I was greeted by a Conflict Resolution dialog box which asked me to resolve a conflict in the metadata (how is a "regular" user supposed to answer this question?), see attached screenshot. Jusdging from the modification time of the left column, it tried to resolve a conflict between a dummy/empty object and the then-loaded mail. I just pressed Escape (which resolution is that?) and afterwards I couldn't find the mail in the Trash folder (the wrong one BTW, cf. bug 259422). The debug output wasn't helpful either. I posted it below; it appeared AFTER I dismissed the Conflict Resolution dialog. After an otherwise uneventful migration, I was spammed by the Notification area with messages like "Remote Folders: Select failed, server replied: A47 NO Invalid mailbox name". After KMail started successfully, these appear regularly. "Remote Folders" is the name of my IMAP account, the Ann are probably the IMAP sequence numbers from my Dovecot server. Still, I have no idea what is wrong here or even which folder is acting weird. Also, I have idea on how to fix this. That will be true for the average user, too, so unless the errors are significant (looks like everything works up to now), KMail should not spam me with errors I can't fix anyway. After a while the error "Remote Folders: Unknown error. (Could not create collection)" popped up as well. The server is dovecot 1.1.11-0ubuntu11. Stretz 2010-06-17 11:03:18 --- I've got this very same bug, it seems like Akonadi doesn't initialize its resources quick enough. There are a lot of bugs like this, eg. bug 227913 and bug 240695 which are duplicated to bug 185395. The latter doesn't really sound like this problem so I'm reluctant to close it as a dup, too. If it magically goes away with Akonadi 1.3.2, I guess it was a dup (this is Akonadi 1.3.1-0ubuntu3). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

While it was moving mails, KMail was still responsive but I wasn't able to switch folders, I guess because the refresh job was queued after all the move jobs. The version beforehand moved mails to Trash (can't remember why), now I chose my Spam folder. To move all my Spam mail (~5000+) from Trash to Spam I created a Search looking for X-Spam-Flag == YES, chose the Search folder, selected all mail and dragged and dropped them into the Spam folder. This took ages so I went away. I think first I tried to open my Inbox which failed because KMail was busy. Anyway, when I just came back to my place after an hour or so, KMail was crashed. I just restarted KMail and it moved/copied ~5800 mails to the Spam folder while I still have ~500 (spam) mails in the Trash folder. -- Backtrace: Application: KMail (kmail), signal: Segmentation fault [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0x7fb2b5544820 (LWP 2478))] Thread 2 (Thread 0x7fb294385710 (LWP 2597)): #0 0x7fb2b2056f53 in *__GI___poll (fds=, nfds=, timeout=-1) at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c:87 #1 0x7fb2a9a054a9 in ??
