When this error happens, only one duplicate is created for each message affected. The duplicated message (the one without a body) is sometimes left in inbox and sometimes moved automatically to the filter destination folder along with the original message. Sometimes the duplicate stays in the inbox, but as soon as I click the inbox the message is moved automatically to the filter destination folder. Sometimes, it is moved only if I trigger the filters manually with CTRL+J. Almost always I can delete both the original and the duplicate by pressing DEL. Sometimes, however, one of them can't be deleted. When I press DEL the selection goes to the next message, but the message I tried to delete remains where it was. I can then repeat this several times with that message and it will not go away. In this case, a folder named teste was renamed to test. The message is translated from portuguese, so it may not be exactly that in english. Please see the attached screenshot. To solve this, I have to rename the problematic folder temporarily to any other name, create another folder with the name I want, move the contents from the problematic folder to this new one I have just created and then remove the old folder. However, my filters were more or less working ok in 4.9, as long I kept them simple, with a single rule in each filter, and did not activate the anti-spam filters. However, after upgrading to 4.9.1, all filters stopped working automatically, even the ones that only test a single condition and move messages based on that condition. What seems to trigger the problem here is a loss of internet connection. If the internet connection fails while kmail is downloading messages, sometimes (not always) it will download again all messages stored in the server, including the ones already downloaded weeks or months ago, when the internet connection is restablished. This happens with my gmail accounts (which are configured in KMail as POP3 accounts, not IMAP accounts). I choose to leave the messages at the server after download for exactly the same reason the original reporter mentioned: I want to be able to download the messages again using other devices (smartphone, tablet and computer). However, they are also collapsing and expanding threads, despite they are not the configured shortcut for these actions (I use - and + for that). This makes it impossible to navigate through the message list using the keyboard if messages are shown in threads. When I try to go to the previous message, KMail collapses the thread instead. Then, if I try to go to the next message, it expands the thread. If I type the left key several times, it collapses the thread and then go to the previous messages. Also, the left and right keys often stop navigating through the messages (maybe KMail is trying to collapse/expand even if there are no other messages in the thread?). When this happens, I have to click another message using the mouse and then the arrows start working for navigation again. This behavior is repeated until the cursor reaches the last row in the messages list pane, preventing the user to see the following messages unless he manually scrolls the message list contents. Instead, the cursor should be kept in the row that was selected before the user deleted the message and the following messages should go up. I think this is the expected behavior for most users. Example: Imagine you have a message list sized to display ten rows and the selected row is #5. So, there are four more rows being displayed before the selected one and five after. If you click DEL, the message in the selected row is deleted. After this, I think most users would expect that the fifth row would still be the selected one. There should still be four rows visible before it and five after. Messages that were in rows 6 to 10 would be scrolled up to rows 5 to 9 and a new message would be displayed in row 10. So you would always see the following five messages after the one that is currently selected. But this is not what happens. After deleting message in row #5, the cursor goes to row 6. Messages that were in rows 1 to 4 are scrolled down to rows 2 to 5 and one new message is displayed in row 1. You have now 5 messages before the cursor and 4 after. Deleting more messages will make the cursor eventually reach row #10 and now you can't see in advance the next messages anymore. This is a very odd behavior and makes it difficult to manage messages in folders which hold very active discussion lists, for example.
