2020-10-19 Thread Markus Elfring
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427960

Bug ID: 427960
Summary: Switch off a message folder pane (on demand)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.15.2
  Platform: Other
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: markus.elfr...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

The default user interface configuration supports a few panes.
https://kontact.kde.org/assets/img/kontact-kmail.png

It can occasionally happen that you would like to work only with a small
selection of message folders (or even only with the messages from a single
favourite directory).
Thus it would be helpful to exclude the display of folders for this use case.

A mail message pane can be supported eventually.
https://kontact.kde.org/assets/img/kontact-kmail.png

There can be reasons to work without this widget occasionally.

* Its service became broken.
  See also:
Missing content display in the mail pane
  https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427584

* You would like to work with an user interface configuration where more
messages should be listed.
Thus extra widgets should be excluded from the display for this use case.

I stumbled on another software surprise while checking the handling of mailto

Thanks for such a quick and helpful response.

Now I wonder about the need for the following change in the implementation of
the function “parseMailtoUrl”.
https://invent.kde.org/pim/messagelib/-/blob/6e5baafc27748d870ab37f2fcbbfb63e53cc121c/messagecore/src/utils/stringutil.cpp#L190

+pairElement.first = queryItem.first.toLower();

Can case-sensitivity matter for any field names?

How will the program version “5.15.3” handle mailto links from another mailing
list archive interface?

Example:
https://systeme.lip6.fr/pipermail/cocci/2020-October/thread.html

By the way:
Do such links work also with the browser “Konqueror 20.08.1” (at the moment)?

I recover (for the moment) by putting the agent offline, restart it, abort all
activities, put it online again and manually start synchronize all.

Restarting the agent again, will block in InvalideCacheForCollection again,
when the (ics) file changed: "The hash has changed."

I checked in resourcebase.cpp, the commit removed the connect of the result?
https://github.com/KDE/akonadi/commit/97fcc9bebd790289b02680c3db7e621bb6a1a9a0#diff-b2f3b083990c6ceb5ed429b2a5fd820fL698

Reverting that bit makes InvalideCacheForCollection finish again.

Was it removed on purpose?

want to be able to start KMail and Kontact from a panel icon as I have for 15+
years.

[kmail2] [Bug 423909] New: KMail perceives cursor location to be vertically offset from where Wacom Bamboo graphic tablet's cursor is visible

2020-07-05 Thread Markus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423909

Bug ID: 423909
Summary: KMail perceives cursor location to be vertically
offset from where Wacom Bamboo graphic tablet's cursor
is visible
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.14.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: no-spam-...@q.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
KMail perceives cursor location to be vertically offset by one inch from where
Wacom Bamboo graphic tablet's cursor is visible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Kmail
2. Move the graphic tablet's cursor into the KMail window

Reproducible 100% of the time.

OBSERVED RESULT
KMail perceives cursor location to be vertically offset by one inch from where
Wacom Bamboo graphic tablet's cursor is visible.

EXPECTED RESULT
The area where KMail perceives the cursor to be should be exactly the same as
where the graphic tablet's cursor is visible.

Relative mode)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I did a fresh install of openSUSE Leap 15.2 on 2020-Jul-04 (the latest and most
current openSUSE version as of this report) and discovered there is a problem
using a Wacom Bamboo tablet with KMail Version 5.14.2 (20.04.2).

Whenever the graphic tablet's cursor is in the KMail window, the area where
KMail perceives I am pointing is vertically offset by one inch below where the
graphic tablet's cursor is visible on my 23 inch screen.

For example, when I see my tablet's cursor hovering over the topmost message in
the Message List, KMail highlights the message 3 rows below, showing KMail
perceives I am pointing at the forth row from the top in the Message List,
instead of perceiving I am pointing at the topmost message as it should. The
same behavior presents in the Folders column. This makes KMail unusable with
the graphic tablet, as I can not select any email message higher than the forth
row. The icons in the toolbar are completely inaccessible by the graphic
tablet's pointer and can not be activated. The menu bar is completely
inaccessible by the graphic tablet's pointer and can not be activated. The same
offset behavior happens when using the scroll bar button (thumb bar).

The graphic tablet's pointer offset behavior is not presenting in any other
application I used. This behavior was not present in any version of KMail from
openSUSE Leap 15.0 or older.

When I connect a mouse to my system, the area where KMail perceives the mouse
is pointing is the same as where the mouse cursor is visible, as it should be,
and all functionality is accessible.

The problem is in eventviews-17.08.2/src/agenda/agendaview.cpp.

There we use createDayLabels to setup all the labels with "AlternateLabel" and
generate the "short version" to fit the topDayLabelBox, but that has no real
size yet. (Actually the size is always 100.)

I see two options:
1. Generate three strings of fixed length and let AlternateLabel decide which
one to choose.
2. Estimate the available size from e.g. mTopDayLabelsFrame and mSelectedDates.
(This has do be redone on resize as well)

I got the same problem since KDE4 multiple times every day. Now on Kmail 5.5.1
in openSUSE tumbleweed. Sometimes I can solve it with `akonadictl restart`
sometimes I go in "offline mode" and back online. Anyway, I do not think that
this has something to do with the distribution.

[Akonadi] [Bug 362652] New: unnecessary getenv call

2016-05-04 Thread Markus Raab via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362652

Bug ID: 362652
   Summary: unnecessary getenv call
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: server
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: deb...@markus-raab.org

src/server/utils.cpp in function Utils::preferredSocketDirectory calls getenv
even in cases when the userName actually is not needed.

  const QString userName = QString::fromLocal8Bit( qgetenv( "USER" ) );
  if ( socketDir.contains( QLatin1String( "$USER" ) ) && !userName.isEmpty() )
{
socketDir.replace( QLatin1String( "$USER" ), userName );
  }

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
getenv is called every time, even if no $USER should be resolved.

Expected Results:
No call to getenv if not needed. It is also questionable if we want to keep
$USER literally if USER was not found in environment.

2015-10-03 Thread Markus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353509

Bug ID: 353509
Summary: Crash after loading a full text entry as HTML page (as
a new tab )
   Product: akregator
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: w...@markus.valtin.net

Application: akregator (5.0.1)

Qt Version: 5.4.2
Operating System: Linux 4.2.0-12-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu Wily Werewolf (development branch)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Opening the HTML site of any RSS entry.
The side seemed to be loaded because I saw it for about a secound.
A SSL certificate validation dialog poped up before the application crashed,
but I think I tried also HTTP only sites.

If I restart the application, the application crashes again, because the tab
with the website is still open. I have to disconnect from the WLAN, start the
application again. Because there is no Internet, the site can not be loaded and
akregator does not crash. I have to close the tab to get the crashes to stop.

This bug report is actually for a crash after restoring the last session, were
I opened the full text HTML entry.

Right after the crash the following error appeared on the termial:

Bug ID: 352664
Summary: Crash when pressing the "write new mail" button
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: markus.hae...@gmx.net

KMail crashes when I try to write a new mail. If i press the button to write a
new mail it crashes with a segmentation fault.

It does NOT happen when i first hit the button to reply to an other mail. After
closing the editor of the replay i can write new mails just fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start KMail.
2. Press the Button to write a new Mail.

Actual Results:
KMail crashes with a segmentation fault.

Expected Results:
An empty editor to write a new mail opens.

I'm on Archlinux, using KMail version 4.81 beta1 (this is what Help/About KMail
tells me). The version of the Archlinux-package is 15.08.0-4, i recompiled it
on my PC to have debugging symbols.

= if selection we don't make autocorrection
 = it's fixed.

This bug is called Selecting text and pressing enter doesn't replace the text
but only adds a newline and this is a bug that has not been fixed. Maybe there
was another bug about autocorrection but this is not it.

I already have that option set as you described it.
So if that should help, it seems to be broken. (Akonadi 1.12.1)

(And keep locally... they are always locally in ~/.local/share/local-mail!)

I already made a complete backup, stopped akonadi and removed akonadis files
and dbs... it was rebuilding it completly for every mail! (I did not open any
mail in kmail!) The cache was nearly as big as before. And did not shrink after
some time (hours without hdd activity).

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333514

Bug ID: 333514
Summary: akonadi file_db_data grows too big
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.13
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: m4rkus...@web.de

I have about 3GB of mails stored in ~/.local/share/local-mail (and .directory).

Now akonadi grows and grows and already reached 4.5GB.
(3.7GB is spent in akonadi/file_db_data where about 62k files are stored.)
Some files are older than 3 years!

It should be possible to limit the amount of space used for cache.
(As they seem be just copies of the mails I dont know what the benefit is after
all. Both are just simple files in ~/.local/ which normaly resides under the
same mount-point.)

Reproducible: Always

I have the same problem since I upgraded to kde 4.12.0. I am using the 412
repository with opensuse 13.1 on 64bit.

I can reproduce the problem everytime. When I reply/reply-all/forward-inline a
mail (does not matter if I select a text in the mail or not) only my signature
is shown. Instead of the quoted text/mail.

I also noticed that when I reply/reply-all/forward-inline a mail, the rich-text
option is automatically selected. This was not happening before.

I can confirm this problem in KDE 4.10 (Kubuntu 12.04) too.
However I think it is not a KMail bug per se.

This happens sometimes after a system freeze which happens here from time to
time (no idea why).
However this crash corrupts a nepomuk transaction file:
.kde/share/apps/nepomuk/repository/main/data/virtuosobackend/soprano-virtuoso.trx

Deleting that file and restarting (for me the easiest way to restart all of
nepomuk / kmail / akonadi ) always solves the issue.

Bug ID: 312687

upgrading akonadi to 1.8.80 or 1.9.0
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.9

 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: er...@kde.org
  Reporter: markus.g...@ktv-one.at

Kmail is unsresponsive upon accessing an imap mail box when akonadi version is
greater 1.8.1.

With akonadi 1.8.1 kmail as shipped with kde 4.9.5 works fine. After upgrading
akonadi to 1.8.80 or 1.9.0 kmail hangs when i try to access an imap mail box. A
message shown says: Fetch job: Unknown Error. This happens with my own cyrus
imapd as well as with some other imap account freely available on the net.
Reinstalling kdepimlibs or kmail does not help. Downgrading akonadi to 1.8.1
does. DB backend is Sqlite. Qt is 4.8.4.

Thank you!

[Bug 311456] New: imap idle is not working with GSSAPI

2012-12-10 Thread markus hetzenecker
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311456

Bug ID: 311456
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.9.3
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: imap idle is not working with GSSAPI
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: markus.hetzenec...@uibk.ac.at
  Hardware: Fedora RPMs
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmail2

send an email and see if kmail shows new mail
This is working with other imap accounts, but using plain authentication.
it is also working with the imap account in question with plain authentication,
but not with GSSAPI authentication.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create imap access, configure plain authentication.
2. send an email to this account and kmail should show new mail.
3. switch to GSSAPI authenitcation and restart akonadi/kmail.
4. send email to this account, but kmail keeps quiet.
Actual Results:
kmail doesn`t show new mail

Expected Results:
kmail shows new mail

debug with export KIMAP_LOGFILE=/tmp/imaplog

working connection has one file per imap access
not working (with GSSAPI auth) has 2 files:
