I'm seeing this in Qutebrowser and Falkon and what fixes it is setting
QT_WEBENGINE_DISABLE_WAYLAND_WORKAROUND=1 (the variablecomes from an OpenSUSE
patch:

This also happens if I leave the dock plugged in and switch off my external

Could be related to bug 438839 or bug 444801, but it's not Plasmashell that
crashes.

[Akonadi] [Bug 445249] New: Akonadi crash after unplugging Thunderbolt dock with attached monitor on Wayland

2021-11-09 Thread Philipp Reichmuth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445249

Bug ID: 445249
Summary: Akonadi crash after unplugging Thunderbolt dock with
attached monitor on Wayland
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: server
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: philipp.reichm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: akonadiserver (5.18.3 (21.08.3))

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.87.0
Operating System: Linux 5.14.14-1-default x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"
DrKonqi: 5.23.2 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Unplugged my Thunderbolt dock, which has a monitor attached via DisplayPort, in
order to fix an issue where the monitor would not go to the resolution I
selected in System Settings.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
The Wayland session was behaving strangely prior to unplugging.
The monitor is capable of 3840x2160 resolution and has supported this
resolution in KWin Wayland in the past. I can see and select this resolution in
System Settings.

Since this morning (with no user changes to my KDE configuration or packages),
the monitor comes up with 2560x1440. I can set it to 3840x2160 in System
Settings. However, when I apply the settings, the monitor will go to 2560x1440
anyway (as confirmed by the monitor's HUD), and when I enter System Settings
again, I see it again at 2560x1440.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

[Akonadi] [Bug 445217] Configuration file mess under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME

2021-11-09 Thread Philipp Reichmuth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445217

The reason for this bug report was not that I tried to edit the configuration
manually, but that I tried to back up my KDE configuration and the files are
all over the place.

I appreciate that there is a technical reasons behind it. But for a user who
knows nothing about the architecture of Akonad,i this is not very intuitive and
can be confusing. Akonadi is not the only app that does this, but it's a
particularly obvious one because it makes its own config subdirectory, but then
puts several files outside of it. I prefer how Falkon or KDE Connect do it -
one subdirectory under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME with all config data underneath it (and
ideally persistent stateful data should then go separately under
$XDG_STATE_HOME).

2021-11-09 Thread Philipp Reichmuth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445217

There may be a rationale to it, but as a user I find it rather confusing to
have seven Akonadi config files under ~/.config, and then another subdirectory
called akonadi with another 30 files.

[Akonadi] [Bug 445217] New: Configuration file mess under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME

2021-11-09 Thread Philipp Reichmuth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445217

Bug ID: 445217
Summary: Configuration file mess under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: philipp.reichm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Akonadi components put their config files in different places - some under
$XDG_CONFIG_HOME, others under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME, and some seem to put them in
both places. While this technically does not contradict the XDG spec, this is
inconsistent, difficult to use., and contributes to the mess in ~/.config that
is a deterrent to many novice users.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Akonadi, work with it for a while
2. Check content of ~/.config

OBSERVED RESULT
There are some configuration files in a directory ~/.config/akonadi, and other
configuration files directly under ~/./config, which is both inconsistent and
unwieldy

On my system:

> cd ~/.config
> ls -1 akonadi*
akonadi_akonotes_resource_0rc

EXPECTED RESULT
If we have a directory ~/.config/akonadi, all Akonadi coomponents should put
their config files in there.

[kmail2] [Bug 434876] New: Ignore SSL cert errors for IMAP autoconfig

2021-03-24 Thread Philipp Wagner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434876

Bug ID: 434876
Summary: Ignore SSL cert errors for IMAP autoconfig
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.16.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@philipp-wagner.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 137020
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=137020=edit
screenshot of cert failure message

When adding a new IMAP account, kmail tries to connect over HTTPS to
autoconfig.DOMAIN. In my case, this is a domain which doesn't have autoconfig
information, so there's nothing to be found. But the connection attempt
triggers a SSL cert warning in a popup dialog, making the setup procedure quite
unfriendly for new users. (The popup appears multiple times with always one
more "www." added, and the user doesn't really know why this domain is accessed
in the first place).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (if you want to do it with my server config)
1. Add a new account in kmail.
2. Use anyth...@philipp-wagner.com as username, and choose a random passwort.
3. See the cert error.

OBSERVED RESULT
see screenshot in attachment (sorry, in German)

EXPECTED RESULT

The cert error should not be shown. I can see reasons to both treat a cert
error as "unable to obtain data from this domain", or to silently ignore cert
errors for this autoconfig stage.

I have only a single gmail account, and I experience exactly the same issue
with KMail 5.7.3 and Akonadi 17.12.3. The workaround with imap.googlemail.com
works.

Moreover: when using OAUTH, after selecting "serverside subscriptions", no
folders show up. When using password authentication, folders do appear.

Any progress in investigating this? It's a KMail showstopper for for users with
GMAIL accounts (if they don't know about the workaround).

[kleopatra] [Bug 336916] KMail can't import PGP keys using kleopatra

2015-03-17 Thread Philipp Verpoort
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336916

--- Comment #7 from Philipp Verpoort philipp.verpo...@secure.mailbox.org ---
As I mentioned in Bug 344368 (marked as duplicate of this bug), I think, the
problem is the reimport. When a signed message is received by KMail, the
information on the public key is stored on the local machine. I think, this
causes Kleopatra not to reimport the full public key from the key server

Anybody can confirm this?

[kleopatra] [Bug 344368] New: Certificates already present cannot be imported from keyserver. There is no problem on command line.

2015-02-19 Thread Philipp Verpoort
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344368

Bug ID: 344368
Summary: Certificates already present cannot be imported from
keyserver. There is no problem on command line.
   Product: kleopatra
   Version: 2.2.0
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: philipp.verpo...@secure.mailbox.org
CC: m...@kde.org

Let a certificate already be present on my local machine, because I received
some information on it via a PGP-signed email (you can easily do this by
clicking in KMail on Show Details in the signed email and then click on the
finger print that is displayed).

Now, try to import the key using the Kleopatra UI. Message:

Certificate Import Result - Kleopatra [window title]

Detailed results of importing OpenPGP Certificate Server:
Total number processed: 0
Imported: 0

(BTW: If somebody is going to fix this, there should be added an additional
from in that sentence above.)

Running the whole thing in cmd line, everything looks good:

user@kubuntu:~$ gpg2 --search-keys 0x1234567890ABCDEF
gpg: searching for 0x1234567890ABCDEF from hkps server

gpg: next trustdb check due at 2015-12-21
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1 (RSA: 1)

It seems to be an internal problem of Kleopatra. Running the same thing with
gpg (not gpg2) does the same.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a certificate on your local machine.
2. Search for certificate on keyservers.
3. Import (update) certificate from keyserver.

Actual Results:
Total number processed: 0
Imported: 0

Expected Results:
Total number processed: x
Imported: y

With x,y 0 depending on the number and status of imported certificates.

(In reply to Martin Tlustos from comment #4)
Here (Kubuntu 14.10, KDE 4.14.1) it is a bit different: creating and
deleting contacts works, but changes to a contact are not synced from
korganizer to google. Changes in Gmail contacts are synced to korganizer,
but if I change a contact both in korganizer and Google, nothing gets
updated from korganizer to google anymore, and changes from within google
only get updated randomly to korganizer (address changes seem to work, but
 url does not etc.)

exactly the same here on kubuntu 14.10 kde 4.14.1.

[kontact] [Bug 335345] New: importing dates into calender by a received invitation email doesn't work, deletes email

2014-05-25 Thread Philipp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=335345

Bug ID: 335345
Summary: importing dates into calender by a received invitation
email doesn't work, deletes email
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.13
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: mail
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: philipp_foers...@yahoo.com

I tried to use the button kontact/kmail shows me (record, move to trash,
delegate, forward, check my calender) to add a calender event of a received
email invitation (attached .ics file). Clicking record does NOT add anything to
my calender and the email gets deleted. It is completely deleted, not moved to
trash or some other place so I cannot recover it. The email contained
invitations for two events so clicking record on one event already deletes the
email so you can't add the second event. I had to request the invitation again
and made a copy to try again, same problem.

I think kontact should have never deleted the email, it might contain other
important stuff and you might still need the invitation email for other
purposes.
And of course I would expect it to really add the calender event and ask which
calender I would like to use.

opening the files and adding them to my calender of choice with korganizer
worked as expected.

Reproducible: Always

I didn't know whether to add this under kontact or kmail, please move it to
kmail if

[kaddressbook] [Bug 332493] New: KAddressbook doesn not allow to create case sensitive E-Mail addresses

2014-03-24 Thread Philipp Schmidt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332493

Bug ID: 332493
Summary: KAddressbook doesn not allow to create case sensitive
E-Mail addresses
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: 4.12.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: philschm...@gmx.net
CC: to...@kde.org

KAddressbook should allow the creation of case sensitive e-mail addresses even
is most providers do not distinguish between them and even treat them as the
same mailbox. On a technical level however the E-Mail should be stored as the
user enters it, as we do not know if the e-mail provider indeed follows
convention.

Relevant parts of RFC2821 (Section 2.4, page 13):
The local-part of a mailbox MUST BE treated as case sensitive.

However, exploiting the case sensitivity of mailbox local-parts impedes
 interoperability and is discouraged.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new Contact in the Addressbook
2. Enter e-mail address foo@host.com
3. Save contact

Actual Results:
e-mail address of new contact was saved as foo@host.com

Expected Results:
e-mail address of new contact should have been saved as foo@host.com

Also happens using ownCloud 4.5.

As many other clients, especially the Android-Calendars do not make use of the
EXDATE-property for exceptions but rather create an additional VEVENT with the
same UID and a STATUS=CANCELLED property (DATE set to the datetime of the
exception) this leads to the strange behaviour the the most recent exception
(=cancelled event) actually shows up, while the event with the recurrence rule
does not.

I just tried deleting all nepomuk data and config files. I then rebooted and
still got the same problem. could there be a problem with akonadi? there is a
control module in akonadi that is called nepomuk feeder. I can't add it tough
it is greyed out.

This problem is still present in KDE 4.10.2 (OpenSUSE binaries).

@ Laurent (Comment 15): The same problem occurs on two different but very
common IMAP servers which I am using, Cyrus and Dovecot.

This is a huge usability issue. Thunderbird manages to show the attachment
icons just fine.

If it's a problem with akonadi and not kmail, should another bug report be
filed?

[Bug 312390] New: Default spell checking language is ignored

2012-12-30 Thread Philipp Gampe
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=312390

Bug ID: 312390
Summary: Default spell checking language is ignored
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: knode
   Version: 4.9
  Hardware: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: bugs.kde@philippgampe.info

I have a german Fedora install (17) with Knode 4.9.4.

I have set the default spell checking language to English (US), but the
language for spell checking (in the spell checking dialog in the compose
window) is always set to german.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup default language German (Fedora)
2. Set default spell checking language to English (US)
3. Compose a message
Actual Results:
Spell checking language is German.

Expected Results:
Spell checking language is English (US).

Of course, selecting the right language in the spell checking dialog works, but
the setting is lost once the compose window is closed.

[Bug 312391] New: Reference line is too long in deeply nested threads

2012-12-30 Thread Philipp Gampe
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=312391

Bug ID: 312391
Summary: Reference line is too long in deeply nested threads
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: knode
   Version: 4.9
  Hardware: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: bugs.kde@philippgampe.info

If you reply to a message inside deeply nested thead, then the Reference header
lines gets too long and the server refuses the message.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Replay to deeply nested thread

Actual Results:
Message refuses the server and Knode displays an error message. The message is
refused with 441 437 Too long line in header 1030 bytes, because the
References line is not truncated.

Expected Results:
Message is send to server. The references line is truncated.

Knode does not forwards the actual error message from the server, but talks
about an error and a possible readonly group.

I manually edited the message in the outbox mbox file and deleted the first two
references. Then I could send the mail. However I do not think is is an
acceptable workaround and deeply nested threads should not be that uncommon.

The news server is lists.typo3.org (aka srv102.typo3.org).

--- Comment #2 from Philipp Gampe bugs.kde@philippgampe.info ---
There is no language option in the identity dialog.

The file ~/.kde/share/apps/knode/nntp.1/info has a line identity=372618578,
however I do not know where the identity is saved.

I now used kmail to change the identity language form English Antigua B
(whyever this was set) to English US, but Knode still uses German. However
Knode saw the renaming of the identity, thus it did notice that it was changed.

Thus I see two independent problems.
1. knode ignores the language defined in settings and in the identity (this
bug)
2. knode does not allow to change the language inside an identity (new bug?)

Can confirm this with my ownCloud Server.

Android also generates a Status=Cancelled for a single recurrence ID. The

So the exception is not stored as an EXDATE but rather as a single, additional
event with the same UID that only references that specific recurrence. Maybe
that is where the problem lies? Does KCalCore discard additional events with
the same UID?

I'm a bit confused by the original bug report. Here is what happens on my
system:

If I enter something in the *folder* filter (the one that is by default not
turned out, but you can turn it on in the preferences), the *message* list gets
corrupted. I.e., after selecting a new folder from the ones that are still
visible when the filter is on, the messages that are shown in the message list
do not correspond to the selected folder. Sometimes, the message list seems to
show a mix of messages from the selected folder and some other folder (the one
that was active before I entered something in the filter field). This behavior
does not change even once I clear the filter. The only way to get back to a
normal behavior is by restarting kmail2.

I can confirm this bug for KDE 4.8.4 (OpenSuSE build) and the latest KDE 4.9
packages (probably beta2) available from OpenSuSE. This bug renders the folder
quicksearch useless. Moreover, once I have accidentally entered something in
there, I have to restart kmail2 in order to get back to a predictable behavior.
Therefore, I think the bug is critical.

[Bug 259949] Kmail does not use all addressbooks for autocompletion

2012-04-05 Thread Philipp Schmidt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259949

--- Comment #92 from Philipp Schmidt philschm...@gmx.net ---
Could we please agree that posting Still present and me too for every
point-release of KDE SC just spams everyones mailbox? It doesn't help with
fixing the bug, it doesn't motivate anyone to help, it is just annoying (We can
all see it in our daily workflow that the bug is still present). Please comment
if you have a Fix or if the Bug has been fixed.

Thank you (also on behalf of my mailbox)!

PS: If you want to discuss this opinion of mine, please do so on the KDE Forums
and not here.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. In 2nd place on the list of most hated bugs is one
that is more than 3 years old:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180051

Too bad that there is no information from the PIMS developers.

Still present in KMail 4.8.0.

And I agree, this ist definitely a Bug, not a Feature or Wishlist. While it
may be common (or at least accepted) to format messages this way on the
Internet, Plain text should really mean just that. If people want real
formatting, they can use HTML.

Using 4.7.3 I get the following behaviour: I have Kolab-Folders in one account.
Those are being shown. Now I click on Create Kolab Folders with the other
account selected: Now I have two Kolab root items in the Calendars overview. So
in my case they get automatically detected.

[Bug 284169] New: kmail crashed after clicking on a local folder

2011-10-16 Thread Philipp Degler
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284169

Summary: kmail crashed after clicking on a local folder
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.7.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: degl...@googlemail.com

Application: kontact (4.7.2)
KDE Platform Version: 4.7.1 (4.7.1)
Qt Version: 4.7.4
Operating System: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
1. I imported my old mail from kmail 10 entries
2. Then I right clicked folder by folder choosing mark all as read (The icon
changed into a circlic process indicator)
3. After some time of heavy disk access all choosen folders showed no unread
mail any longer
4. One imported folder was still untouched though (~800 unread mails)
5. I clicked on that folder = crash happend

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
I switched on kernel block dump locking with
echo 1 /proc/sys/vm/block_dump

In the log (/var/log/kern.log) I noticed akonadi constantly and frequently
accessing the disk. Also the whole app seems to be slow after the import of the
old mails.

I almost forgot about this feature, until for some reasons I switched my
kmail shortcut configuration back to the default, and... replied with
R...unfortunately to the mailing-list, not the author - highly embarassing
(again!)

Please, please, please, make R the default short-cut for reply to author.
This is what people typically want. Currently, the default short-cut for reply
to author is Shift+A - nobody uses that! Ever!

Also think about what can be worse - accidentally sending a private e-mail to
the mailing list, or accidentally sending a public e-mail to one person?

I can confirm this on openSUSE 11.4, KDE 4.7.0, on a disconnected IMAP account.

It seems that when I receive new e-mails, the attachment flag works, but for
old e-mails the paperclip is not shown. Even opening the e-mail does not change
the flag.

[Bug 278964] New: [regression] folder quick filter empties current folder

2011-07-31 Thread Philipp Woelfel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=278964

Summary: [regression] folder quick filter empties current
folder
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: woel...@gmx.net

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

When entering something into the (folder) quick filter field, the currently
selected folder switches to empty, even before a new folder is selected.
Thus, the message list is cleared. In kmail 1, the currently selected folder
remained the same.

This regression makes the quick filter ineffective for sorting e-mails into
folders: In kmail1 you could select a message that you wanted to move into a
folder, find the folder using the quick filter field, and then immediately move
the message to the target folder. This is not possible anymore.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Select an arbitrary folder. Enter an arbitrary string in the (folder) quick
filter field.

Actual Results:
The currently selected folder changed to empty

Expected Results:
The currently selected folder is not changed

[Bug 259358] Re-ordering folders via drag drop not working anymore

Well, just to keep this bug updated: Still present in 4.6.0.

@Thomas Fischer: Depending on the Way the IMAP server or you yourself handle
folder locally that idea is not quite so good. In my case I have s folder
structure like this (cause of GMX), written in the order i would like them to
view:

inbox
private messages
open source stuff
remaining stuff
trash
sent items
drafts

So I would hate it to have trash etc. before any of my other content folders.
It would make sense to have such an option as an option though.

The other bug you mention is definitely a duplicate, maybe one of the bugsquad
can mark it accordingly (And maybe finally mark this bug as confirmed or
something...), however I left a comment just in case.

[Bug 260703] favorite folders: please option to show as list as it is in Kmail1

This is a show-stopper. I have 100+ folders total and the 18 most frequently
used ones in my favourite list (KMail1). A Favourite Folders view with icons
is useless to me and forces me to stick with the old KMail. I think the typical
user who has a need of the Favourite Folders view has lots of folders and
therefore also many favourite ones.

[Bug 188067] KMail window doesn't display if started by session manager

Same problem here with openSUSE 11.4, kmail 1.13.7, KDE 4.6.3. Once kmail is
started with the session manager, the only way to get the window to show is by
killing the kmail process and then starting it again.

Can confirm this in part. For me Autocompletion starts working when I typed a
full Last- or Firstname, then it shows the according Items.

[Bug 259358] Re-ordering folders via drag drop not working anymore

Status with git from May 2nd: Reordering kind of works in all levels below the
first, but will not drop at the right place (e.g. you drop a folder under
another, it is above said folder). First level is still unsortable.

Can confirm this using Arch with KDE 4.6.1 and KDEPIM git from 2011-03-10:
Behaviour is very annoying as this way I have the most unimportant folders on
top and the inbox somewhere in the middle. Very annoying.
