That bug report suggests to shut down kmail, and then kill all kio IMAP connections to allow recovery. When this happens I get the inbox folder marked as if I got new mail, but when I open it I can't see anything. Since I got the recheck mail every 5 minutes set, I get flagged as having new mail every 5 minutes, and everytime I look in the inbox there's nothing (but the new message flag goes away). I do realize this is probably not a bug in kmail but in gmail's way of handling this type of special messages. However I posted this bug so that you can decide who has the problem. I should also mention that I have no filters whatsoever neither in gmail nor in kmail. But offline google talk messages are not normal emails either...
