When you say mailing list, you probably want to say "mailman" instead, don't
you? This is a known bug in mailman that alters the content-type header
(removes linebreaks) so the signatures will not match anymore.

Please confirm.

KMail calls KMessageBox here so this is the wrong package to blame. I still see

This is basically a request for more types of trust visualisation. Because of
this I'll mark this as a duplicate of a newer bug which in fact asks for a
superset of features that would also solve this problem.

The kontact plugin from kontact/plugins/akregator is installed even if the main

[Bug 219662] New: Can't mark all mails with Ctrl-A anymore

2009-12-22 Thread Rolf Eike Beer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219662

Summary: Can't mark all mails with Ctrl-A anymore
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.0
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: k...@opensource.sf-tec.de

Version: 1.13.0 (using 4.3.85 (KDE 4.3.85 (KDE 4.4 Beta2)) "release
3", KDE:KDE4:UNSTABLE:Desktop / openSUSE_11.2)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop

When I mark a mail in the list of mails in a folder I can't select all mails
with Ctrl-A anymore, instead the complete text of the currently selected mail
is selected. This worked in 4.3.

Typical usecase: mark all mails in spam folder and kick them or mark everything
in a specific folder and then do something like "mark as read".

It looks like "mark all messages" can't be undone? When I use the new shortcuts

not unselect all others as it would work with any other selection.

Ok, I've tried again with KDE SC 4.4.0 and it's still there. And it's
absolutely trivial to reproduce for me:

-open Kontact
-choose KMail
-open search window in any folder (doesn't matter if local or DIMAP)
-close Kontact
->crash

You don't even need to search or enter any search terms.

determineType() should identify it properly, maybe the caller just has wrong
checks of the return code?

While looking at it prepareMessageForDecryption() just below is also a bit too
aggressive when trying to find something to decrypt, maybe it should call out
to a variant of determineType() and properly look on the return code?

Bug ID: 453688

should switch to "To"
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.20.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@opensource.sf-tec.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Pick any existing mail and start to reply to it. The next empty field below the
existing recipients is "CC". Now delete all recipients: at this point it would
be very helpful if the first input would switch the combobox from "CC" to "To",
otherwise people like me hit "there is no To: given for this mail, are you
sure" warning permanently.

I want to reply to a mail which has many recipients and CC list entries. The
reply get's rejected from my SMTP server as the SMTP body that is generated
contains too long lines. When I look at the mail in the outbox I can confirm
this: the To: and CC: lines are no wrapped, instead all entries are put in a
very long line.

The hard limit for SMTP body lines is IIRC 1000 chars including the CRLF.

To test use the current HEAD of KDE/4.12, KDE/4.13, or master branch in
kde:kgpg repository. The email composer will show up empty (or only with your
signature). If you open the file caff.cpp and change the last argument to
KToolInvocation::invokeMailer() from text to "test.mid(1)" or
"text.mid(0).insert(0, QLatin1Char(' '))" then the text will show up in the
composer.

[kaddressbook] [Bug 334985] New: "Synchronize folder" destroys data

2014-05-18 Thread Rolf Eike Beer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334985

Bug ID: 334985
   Summary: "Synchronize folder" destroys data
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: 4.13
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@opensource.sf-tec.de
CC: to...@kde.org

The observations were made with 2 hosts running 4.13.1, connected to an IMAP
server running dovecot. The server was a Courier one months ago when the
computers were set up, but was converted to Dovecot and no problems have been
seen so far. The hosts used different KDE SC versions over time, but were
regularly updated to the most recent stable versions.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
On host1 I opened the addressbook, and edited some contacts in a subfolder.
Only this subfolder was selected in the folder list, so only it's contents were
showing up. I added some birthdays and other information. Most contacts had
images attached to them. I then clicked "synchronize folder" from the folders
context menu. Result: all contacts lost images and birthdays.

I then booted the other host. Most contacts were showing up twice, none had an
image (they should have had them, the images were added months ago). I clicked
"synchronize folder" there, it resulted in the duplicates disappearing and the
images showing up. But no birthday entries were seen anywhere. I then added a
birthday entry to one entry again on host2, clicking "synchronize folder". The
birthday entry was deleted again. Syncing on host1 did not result in any
change.

Final state so far:
-host1 has neither images nor birthdays
-host2 has images, but no birthdays
-server has state of host2
-adding birthdays only has an effect until folder is synchronized

If a feed contains HTML tags (like <) in the title of an article, those tags
are not properly rendered. The main problem happens if there is a
text inside, this is entirely missing on the screen (probably
because it is "rendered" twice, resulting in an invalid (ignored) markup tag.

2015-01-18 Thread Rolf Eike Beer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337330

--- Comment #5 from Rolf Eike Beer ---
The problem arises when I write something in the subject line like "fix tag
being handled wrong" or something like that.

[kontact] [Bug 346250] New: Crash on cnn.com

2015-04-15 Thread Rolf Eike Beer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346250

Bug ID: 346250
   Summary: Crash on cnn.com
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@opensource.sf-tec.de

Application: kontact (4.14.6)
KDE Platform Version: 4.14.6
Qt Version: 4.8.5
Operating System: Linux 3.19.3-1.gf10e7fc-desktop x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE 13.1 (Bottle) (x86_64)"

-- Information about the crash:
I opened
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/04/14/europe/uk-election-ukip-polish-prince-duel/
in an akregator tab. It was the only tab opened at this time.

Opening the same link in a standalone Konqueror window did not crash, but took
a long time to become responsive again, taking 100% time on one CPU for ~1
minute.

[kmail2] [Bug 406886] New: "Signed by" should not show disabled identities

2019-04-25 Thread Rolf Eike Beer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406886

Bug ID: 406886
Summary: "Signed by" should not show disabled identities
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.7.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: crypto
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@opensource.sf-tec.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I have 2 revoked identities in my GPG key, both gone . The "signed by"
decoration shown around my mails always includes these identities.

In fact I would like it to show only one identity if it matches the sending
address to avoid needless visual clutter.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

screenshot of original problem in Akregator

I often have a black rectangle on top of the message content pane, both in
Akregator (as discussed here) as well as KMail. This happens on different
machines, running different versions of openSUSE (one of them running
Tumbleweed).

The black rectangle appears when hovering the area above the text "Aktuelles,
keine ungelesenen Artikel", and moves with the mouse (i.e. it looks like I'm
hovering different elements of a HTML page). The effect often enough goes away,
but once it persists (this time achieved by moving the mouse cursor to the left
and out of the pane). It then stays permanently visible, even in other Kontact
subapps (see second screenshot of KMail). It is no effect of KWin or something,
other application windows moved over the rectangle it is correctly hidden.

  Severity: crash

 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

The behavior is there for some weeks, and it's quite easy to reproduce:

-go to KMail in Kontact
-double click an email to open it in a new window
-close that window using either Ctrl-W or by clicking the X in the title bar
(choosing close in the menu of the subwindow is not sufficient)

This results in the entire Kontact crashing somewhere in libQtWebEngineCore (I
sadly cannot get a backtrace atm, maybe next week). I'm using openSUSE
Tumbleweed, Qt is 5.11.1.

I have received a mail with many recipient in To: as well as a "X-YMail-OSG:"

When I now bounce that mail these lines get unfolded, breaking the 1000 char

KDE Frameworks Version: 5.45.0
Qt Version: 5.9.4

This could be related to bug 409169, I'm unsure if it hits the same code paths.

Using the email address is problematic as many people do not own the domain
that would be used for that. So by default using the hostname is a better idea.

The Message-Id field uses only the hostname, not the FQDN. The hostname itself

FQDN should be used instead.

That kontact has the wrong component names hardcoded in it's "report problems

QHostInfo::localDomainName()?

Btw, I think this is the code in messagecomposer/job/skeletonmessagejob.cpp.
When the FQDN getting fails it shows a message that it will use

[kmail2] [Bug 323740] New: [Regression] Kontact/KMail starts eating one CPU when selecting a mail

2013-08-19 Thread Rolf Eike Beer

  Reporter: k...@opensource.sf-tec.de

I just upgraded my machine from SC 4.10.5 to 4.11. I'm using KMail-part in
Kontact with an (online) IMAP account.

After startup, once the first mail is selected, Kontact starts blocking one CPU
(~20% on my Quadcore machine), akonadiserver usually uses the rest so both sum
up to ~25% load. When in this state I can select some other mail but only get a
message "please wait while fetching contents of this folder". I also can't send
any mail during this. Kontact isn't entirely locked up, e.g. I can navigate
through the menu and the like. So I guess it is in some sort of loop talking to
akonadi and getting flooded with replies so the event loop is always busy.

Since I can easily reproduce this I can get you any sort of log/strace, but
please tell me what to look for.

One more thing that I observed: if I quit kontact it will not go away, but hang
around. It then uses less CPU time, but akonadi then uses more (numbers are
something like 4% kontact 21% akonadi), so I think there is still the same
communication going on in the background. When I then send send a term signal
to kontact it really quits and akonadi immediately calms down.

--- Comment #1 from Rolf Eike Beer ---
Ok, I have this again on another host and can narrow this down. If I change the
folder properties to "contacts" in folder properties dialog the
"collectionannotations" in akonadiconsole shows up as "contact % false". If I
change that manually to "/vendor/kolab/folder-type contact.default" the folder
properly becomes a contact folder.

This seems to work for other types (notes, calendar), but it does not work for
contacts.

In case anyone needs a test account on the courier imap server to debug this
just drop me a note.

[kmail2] [Bug 326063] New: [Security?] KMail invoked from KToolInvocation with an encrypted text will decrypt the text

2013-10-15 Thread Rolf Eike Beer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326063

Bug ID: 326063
Summary: [Security?] KMail invoked from KToolInvocation with an
encrypted text will decrypt the text
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@opensource.sf-tec.de

The invocation is like this:

KToolInvocation::invokeMailer(email, QString(), QString(), subject, text);

text is in this case is a PGP encrypted message, (also) encrypted to my own
private key. When the KMail window shows up the _decrypted_ text is show, i.e.
KMail will itself decrypt the text. If the message is only encrypted to someone
else the message is kept as KMail can't decrypt it.

If the text is expected to be sent encrypted and the user isn't very careful
the text may accidentially be sent unencrypted.

Reproducible: Always
