KMail2 doesn't like it when you are too hasty, e.g. when deleting mail. In my case this seemed to be the reason for this error, I just clicked the Move to Trash button to quickly. Now I just started kmail by hand, watching cout/cerr while I tried to select the message causing this error and going the resource offline. This gave me some output like: akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0(18748)/akonadiresource (maildir): Failed to read item 1390374044.R143.. in Maildir /home/.../Mail/inbox I just changed to my inbox in my mail folder and searched this entry. And of cource I couldn't find it. So I searched for other entries looking similar, some that do not end in ,S or ,RS, and I found them under new/. Now I just copied one of the existing files and recreated the missing file again. After restarting kmail I again selected the bad message, and it appeared. Of cource with the wrong content, but I didn't really care, because I deleted it before. After that fix I detected, that the missing message was already in the trash folder. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286793 --- Comment #8 from Roman Fietze r...@fietze-home.de --- In the meantime, after a few months we are already at KDE 4.8.4, kmail2 seems to handle an mbox file or account properly in terms of deletion and compaction. [Bug 248026] New: kmail hangs when pressing send
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=248026 Summary: kmail hangs when pressing send Product: kmail Version: 1.13.5 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: r...@fietze-home.de Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.5.0) OS:Linux Sometimes, I don't yet know when and why, kmail hangs when pressing the send button in the composer after composing, replying and/or forwarding a mail. The CPU load of kontact/kmail in this case is down to 0. Now the facts and probabilities: I think, but that is not 100% sure, that it only happens when forwarding or replying mails. It could be caused by logging in to the same account from somewhere else while the first login is still active, e.g. via NX. But, in this case, the second login does not open or even use kontact or kmail, except maybe the reminder daemon. The first login did end kontact properly before the second login/session was started. So evt. this bug here is related to #228612, but the results are different. But in 100% of the cases an akonadictl stop before starting kontact again fixes the problem. Next time I start kontact/kmail I will do that with the ulimit core size set to unlimited, so I can at least try to find out where it hangs. I set the severity to crash, because I have to kill the application. Very many people's mail addresses are firstname.lastn...@doman.tld, so almost every lazy, but smart user will do this: copy paste the person's full name to the EMail text field, at least she/he will try to do that, then replace the space by a dot and append the domain. This worked fine for years, but now it doesn't any more. When you try that the first time after updating to a recent KDE version you won't be able to find out why pasting doesn't work, and search somewhere else. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 232078] New: kmail hangs when akonadi is used as the standard contacts resource
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232078 Summary: kmail hangs when akonadi is used as the standard contacts resource Product: kmail Version: unspecified Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS/Version: unspecified Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: r...@fietze-home.de Version:(using KDE 4.4.1) Installed from:openSUSE RPMs When I have the akonadi resource activated in the system settings I can no longer start kmail or kontact and have to kill it. I was not logged out between stopping and starting kontact/kmail. When I start kmail from the console wile the akonadi resource is activated I get errors like: kaddressbook(9183)/libakonadi Akonadi::SessionPrivate::socketError: Socket error occurred: QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name kmail(9350)/nepomuk (library) unnamed::GlobalModelContainer::init: Failed to connect to Nepomuk server via local socket /home/fietze/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk/socket kmail(9350)/nepomuk (library) unnamed::GlobalModelContainer::init: Connecting to local socket /home/fietze/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk/socket It seems that the first mail is read from /var/spool/mail into the inbox, and then kmail hangs. When killing kmail, it does not react to any key pressed or the mouse, and trying to start it again, the same thing happens and this first mail appears a second time in the inbox. As soon as the akonadi resource is deactivated everything is fine. This bug can be reproduced on two machines, one at home and one at the company. But I cannot force this behaviour by stopping kmail, sending myself a small mail locally (using mail), activating the akonadi resource and starting kmail again. Hmmm? Tomorrow morning I will trace all output of kmail under clean condtitions and a hopefully filled up /var/spool/mail, and I'll attach that to this bug report. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
