Still exists in KMail 5.5.2, openSUSE RPMs, openSUSE Leap 42.3

I also tried different methods to add them again. Filter configuration and
advanced tab as well as configure toolbars. And I tried it multiple times.

The buttons are shown in Configure Toolbars -> kmmainwin but not on the toolbar
itself. The items added to this toolbar were named "Filter Classify as Spam"
and "Filter Classify as NOT spam".

In the context popup menu of a message I can use Apply Filter -> Classify as
(NOT) spam and it works as expected.

[kmail2] [Bug 358823] New: Cannot configure sendmail (postfix) as the outgoing mail transport

2016-01-31 Thread Roman Fietze via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358823

Bug ID: 358823
Summary: Cannot configure sendmail (postfix) as the outgoing
mail transport
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.1
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: config dialog
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: r...@fietze-home.de

Since the update to kdepim 15.x I can no longer use a properly working postfix
installation and the binary "sendmail".

This has the disadvantage to be forced to configure postfaix *and* kmail2's
SMTP in parallel, or to enable SMTP on the local postfix installation.

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
"Failed to transport message".

kmail2 5.1.1
kdepim 15.12.1
openSUSE Tumbleweed
postfix 2.11.7, properly working on the command line (mail) and with other MUAs

[kmail2] [Bug 310899] Resource KMail Folders is broken. This resource is now online

--- Comment #10 from Roman Fietze r...@fietze-home.de ---
I (temporarily) fixed this problem using a small trick.

KMail2 doesn't like it when you are too hasty, e.g. when deleting mail. In my
case this seemed to be the reason for this error, I just clicked the Move to
Trash button to quickly.

Now I just started kmail by hand, watching cout/cerr while I tried to select
the message causing this error and going the resource offline. This gave me
some output like:

akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0(18748)/akonadiresource (maildir): Failed to
read item 1390374044.R143.. in Maildir /home/.../Mail/inbox

I just changed to my inbox in my mail folder and searched this entry. And of
cource I couldn't find it. So I searched for other entries looking similar,
some that do not end in ,S or ,RS, and I found them under new/.

Now I just copied one of the existing files and recreated the missing file
again.

After restarting kmail I again selected the bad message, and it appeared. Of
cource with the wrong content, but I didn't really care, because I deleted it
before.

After that fix I detected, that the missing message was already in the trash
folder. Where else could it be?!

After additional tests I found out, that this problem only shows up when using

As you can see, the font is displayed properly inside the font selection

The correct and complete mail signature (double dash, space, text, etc.) will
be printed at the bottom of the composer's messae window when a new mail is
being started. This is true wheter I use an external editor or not.

When I use the internal editor I can just type above that signature an
everything is fine.

But when I use an external editor the signature is gone in the moment when I
leave the external editor.

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

After an update to the latest version of kmail2 from the openSUSE 12.2 repos
for KDE 4.10, KDE:/Release:/410/openSUSE_12.2, the message windows no longer
uses the selected font, but some very small and almost unreadable serif font.

If I go into the appropriate dialog to adjust this font, I still can change
e.g. to italic or bold, and that attribute is used for the font in the message
window, but the font itself, some monospace font, isn't.

The wanted font itself is available and being used in the folder and message
list as well, and here it is displayed correctly.

A screen shot will follow as soon as I have access to the system showing that
problem. And I will try to test this with a test account as well.

[Bug 311199] New: Mail filters not always applied when messages come in too fast

2012-12-05 Thread Roman Fietze
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311199

Bug ID: 311199
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.9
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Mail filters not always applied when messages come in
too fast
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: r...@fietze-home.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: Mail Filter Agent
   Product: Akonadi

Test scenario:

- KMail 4.9.4

- IMAP account setup and working properly, here Cyrus IMAP server on the same
machine as KMail for testing

- Filter defined, so all messages for the IMAP account (advanced tab) will be
moved to local inbox, matching all messages (empty match text fields)

Earlier versions of KMail/akonadi ignored the filter if not applied manually,
but this is kind of working now.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send a single message to the host and the IMAP server.

2. The message appears for a very short moment in IMAP/Inbox and is moved to
local/inbox right away, reappearing there. So good so far, that's fine.

3. Now set up a loop like this:

   for i in 01 02 03 04 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13
  do
echo$i; date | mail -s Test$i localusername; sleep 0.1
  done

When the sleep goes below a certain limit some of the messages remain in the
IMAP/Inbox, on my host about 1 out of 5. On my host, which is an openSUSE 12.1
inside a VirtualBox on a fast host this limit is about 0.1s. Manually applying
all filters on all messages in IMAP/Inbox after something went wrong finally
moves them where they should have been gone the first time.

Actual Results:
Messages remaining in IMAP/Inbox.

--- Comment #8 from Roman Fietze r...@fietze-home.de ---
In the meantime, after a few months we are already at KDE 4.8.4, kmail2 seems
to handle an mbox file or account properly in terms of deletion and compaction.

But still, when I add a filter with To: matching regexp .*, Move into
folder inbox, From checked accounts onlY and Spool (which is my
/var/spool/mail/$USER mbox account), then kmail2 does not apply this filter to
incoming mail on the mbox account. But when I select a mail manually and apply
all filters, it works, and the mail is move to inbox.

So there's still no workaround for this bug and I'm stuck with KDE 4.6 (and
therefore openSUSE 11.4), until I drop KDEPIM.

The only solution that I could find to get the mail out was restarting akonadi.

But I will double check the proposed solution mentioned in bug #204515 as soon
as I can reproduce the problem. If it's a dupe, I will mark mine accordingly.

--- Comment #6 from Roman Fietze rfkd fietze-home de 2011-01-24 21:42:02 ---
I cannot confirm this. Just this morning I had a hanging send using kmail
1.13.5 from the openSUSE 11.3 KDE 4.5 Repos (KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3),
Package kmail-4.4.9-1.2.x86_64.

It seems that is not necessary to start kmail/kontact when logging in from a
remote host. It seems to be sufficient just to start the KDE4 session, which I
my case starts kalarm as the only application of the PIM suite.

It is not repeatable 100%, and I'm sorry that I do not yet know how to
reproduce that.

On my box it freezes forever, or at least way longer than a few minutes. The

My kmail always and only hangs when I use kmail from another login to the

mention something like that at all.

Version: 1.13.5 (using Devel)
OS:Linux

I can select any item inside the message list using right mouse in the header
of this list, e.g. Sender, Receiver, Size, etc. All these settings are
remembered properly, even across a restart of kontact/kmail.

I can deselect Display Tooltips as well and it works, but this setting is not
remembered across a restart of kmail, and I have to deselect it every time
again.

Reproducible: Always

[Bug 248288] kaddressbook copy and paste of entries results in no name and content type

With kmail 1.13.5, kaddressbook 4.4.6 and kontact 4.4.6 I will now get the
proper contents of that attachment, some VCF date. But the content-type os now
/ and the name is unknown.

With the old combo before the akonadi age I think the name was set to the same
name as if I would have exported the VCF to a file, and the content type was
set up properly.

Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS:Linux

Sometimes, I don't yet know when and why, kmail hangs when pressing the send
button in the composer after composing, replying and/or forwarding a mail. The
CPU load of kontact/kmail in this case is down to 0.

Now the facts and probabilities:

I think, but that is not 100% sure, that it only happens when forwarding or
replying mails.

It could be caused by logging in to the same account from somewhere else while
the first login is still active, e.g. via NX. But, in this case, the second
login does not open or even use kontact or kmail, except maybe the reminder
daemon. The first login did end kontact properly before the second
login/session was started. So evt. this bug here is related to #228612, but the
results are different.

But in 100% of the cases an akonadictl stop before starting kontact again
fixes the problem.

Next time I start kontact/kmail I will do that with the ulimit core size set to
unlimited, so I can at least try to find out where it hangs.

I set the severity to crash, because I have to kill the application.

Some day I ended up having four address books all having the same name Address

When I set up kmail to use an external editor or composer, kmail would not
allow me to store this setting, neither via Apply (grayed out) nor Ok.

Other settings can be modified and are remembered, I tested e.g.
Accounts-Send-Allow 8-Bit/Quoted Printable. I can even turn on/off the toggle
use external composer, and that setting is remembered as well.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
This only happens on one machine. Maybe it's the result of being logged in to
that account two times, once at the console at work, once via NX from home.
KMail/Kontact were exited normally at work before going home, so kmail/kontact
are not running when I log in via NX. Akonadi is running at that moment.

I cannot reproduce that on my machine at home using the KMail instance running
there with exactly the same KDE/KMail versions.

Actual Results:
Setting cannot be applied via Ok, Apply is grayed out.

Did not try that using KDE 4.4.4 yet. Cannot see anything on the console when
running kmail from bash.

I had selected emacs as an external editor in the kmail composer settings. Then
I started editing a mail, wanted to turn the external editor off to do some
things using kmails own editor.

So inside the composer windows I selected Settings - Configure KMail -
Composer and turned the external editor off and clicked Ok. But I still had
Emacs coming up when hitting the first key.

This setting was only active when leaving the composer end editing the mail
again or editing a new mail.

When I remember it correctly then this worked on older versions of kmail. But
that might have been the 3.5 versions already.

[Bug 235690] New: kontact hangs when starting in summary view or after switching to summary view

Summary: kontact hangs when starting in summary view or after

   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: r...@fietze-home.de

Version:(using KDE 4.4.2)
Installed from:openSUSE RPMs

When I switch to the summary view this works, but from now on kontact does no
longer react to keypresses or mouse clicks and has to be killed or terminated.

When the [View] section of kontactrc does not contain an entry for
ActivePlugin, then kontact already hangs when beeing started and has to be
killed or terminated.

Manually adding

[View]
ActivePlugin=kontact_kmailplugin

is a workaround.

Not having any unread mail fixes the problem. Not having any TODO's, event's or
birthday's within the selected time frame has not yet been tested.

This is a typo. Correct is:

[Bug 235607] New: kmail or kontact using a lot of CPU and disk when starting reading mail folders

2010-04-28 Thread Roman Fietze

When I exit kontact properly and start it the next day, kontact uses a lot of
CPU and disk resources. The system, esp. kontact/kmail is sluggish for 2-3
minutes when this happens. It seems kmail is reading in all known folders.

When I exit kontact properly and start it again right away I cannot see that
behaviour. See below about expiration and size of the trash folder.

An strace -p with the PID of kontact gives me the following output:

My trash folder has about 3 mails in it and is set up to expire mails after
365 days.

I could not see tat behaviour with older versions of KDE PIM. But I always had
about those many mails in my trash, and trash was always set up to expire.

[Bug 234328] New: kmail hangs when pressing send in composer window

Version:(using KDE 4.4.2)

When I write a mail and then hit the Send button, kmail hangs forever. Up to
now I have tried a few things to find out what circumstances are required to
make that happen.

My findings so far, but do not count on them 100%:

- stopping and starting akonadi seems to help

- I was not logged in to the same account in between, e.g. as in Bug #228612

- probably this only happens if at least one person can only be found on the
LDAP address book, here I have to make further tests

If kmail is working once, the problem did not occur again until I exited
kontact/kmail.

I will start kontact/kmail with core ulimits set to unlimited and shoot at
kmail using a signal causing a core dump, may be this will give me more
information.

[Bug 232078] kmail hangs when the akonadi contacts resource is activated

--- Comment #1 from Roman Fietze rfkd fietze-home de 2010-03-28 14:15:53 ---
Can this be caused by having the original kaddressbook std.vcf and the akonadi
resource acivated at the same time in the system settings kontact resource
window (not the akonadi manage address book sources dialog).

Do I just have to add the old std.vcf in akonadi manage address book sources
dialog only if I want to use that as well, and only there, having just the
akonadi resource been active and used in the configure KDE resources dialog of
the system settings?

When adding a new contact using the kaddressbook dialog, or just when adding a
mail address to an existing contact, the early consistency check inside the
EMail text field is counter productive.

Very many people's mail addresses are firstname.lastn...@doman.tld, so almost
every lazy, but smart user will do this: copy paste the person's full name to
the EMail text field, at least she/he will try to do that, then replace the
space by a dot and append the domain.

This worked fine for years, but now it doesn't any more. When you try that the
first time after updating to a recent KDE version you won't be able to find out
why pasting doesn't work, and search somewhere else.

[Bug 232078] New: kmail hangs when akonadi is used as the standard contacts resource

2010-03-25 Thread Roman Fietze

Summary: kmail hangs when akonadi is used as the standard

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: r...@fietze-home.de

Version:(using KDE 4.4.1)
Installed from:openSUSE RPMs

When I have the akonadi resource activated in the system settings I can no
longer start kmail or kontact and have to kill it. I was not logged out between
stopping and starting kontact/kmail.

When I start kmail from the console wile the akonadi resource is activated I
get errors like:

kaddressbook(9183)/libakonadi Akonadi::SessionPrivate::socketError: Socket
error occurred: QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name

kmail(9350)/nepomuk (library) unnamed::GlobalModelContainer::init: Failed to

kmail(9350)/nepomuk (library) unnamed::GlobalModelContainer::init: Connecting
to local socket /home/fietze/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk/socket

It seems that the first mail is read from /var/spool/mail into the inbox, and
then kmail hangs. When killing kmail, it does not react to any key pressed or
the mouse, and trying to start it again, the same thing happens and this first
mail appears a second time in the inbox.

As soon as the akonadi resource is deactivated everything is fine.

This bug can be reproduced on two machines, one at home and one at the company.
But I cannot force this behaviour by stopping kmail, sending myself a small
mail locally (using mail), activating the akonadi resource and starting kmail
again. Hmmm?

Tomorrow morning I will trace all output of kmail under clean condtitions and a
hopefully filled up /var/spool/mail, and I'll attach that to this bug report.

In the Address Books window I cannot select more than one address book at the
same time. This makes it a little cumbersome to find people when I do not know
exactly where they are.

Example: at work we have LDAP, but those entries only contain a minimum of
information like name, mail and phone number. For most colleagues a also have
an extra entry containing extra fields like mobile, home address, home email,
etc. With the current setup I constantly have to switch address books when
searching for information.

OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: r...@fietze-home.de

Version:(using KDE 4.4.0)
Installed from:openSUSE RPMs

Following procedure:

- login to host, start kontact, switch to mail
- exit kontact (and lock screen)

- go to another terminal and login via NX, XDMCP or just switch sessions
- use the same login/user again
- start kontact

Now kontact hangs and has to be killed. I assume kmail, because I get a stale
/var/spool/mail/ lock file after the test. But because I'm not yet 100% sure, I
assigned the bug to kontact for now.

This worked fine with versions prior to 4.4.

I did that for years using KDE 3.x w/o any problem, leaving the session open in
the company because I have thousands of applications and xterms open, and
relogin from home via NX, e.g. to check for mail. kontact/kmail was of course
never running on the company session any more.

I've got some messages in any folder, sorted by date (newest at the bottom),
threaded view.

Now I start reading at the top (oldest message). As soon as I read the message
I delete it. Now, if I'm within a thread, the next active message very often is
not the next message in the list, but some other message way down.

Hitting 'N' to walk through those messages one by one properly works.

If necessary I can provide two screen shots, one before the delete, one after
the delete. I just have to restore some useful messages or threads.

Works for me in KDE 4.3.2.

It seems you do no longer take care of 3.5, so I'll close this one.

--- You are receiving this mail because: ---

Summary: kontact summary view not updated when receiving calendar
changes by mail
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: rfkd fietze-home de

Version:(using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from:SuSE RPMs

The case:

Got korganizer invitation from other user (myself at work) via mail. The KDE
version at work is exactly the same as the one at home.

Accepted invitation from within mail part (kmail), the entry was added to the
calendar and kontact summary view.

The day of the invitation was changed, an update mail was sent out.

I accepted the change from within the mail part of kontact. The calendar entry
was changed, but the summarty view suddenly contained both entries, the one at
the original day and the one at the new day. Switching between the different
parts of kontact didn't fix the problem.

Quitting kontact and starting it again fixed the problem, only the entry at the
new day remained.
