 I used version

 to get Kmail working .

It works for me, too.

Instead I use version 2.6.56 for the soprano RPMs from the Opensuses's
 Unstable Repository
 [http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/48/openSUSE_12.1].

Do you mean 2.7.56 from

 Component: composer
   Product: kmail2

I'd like if kmail saved the fullname of each recipient not only her/his email.
Anyway I can add the full name manually by editing the list of recent addresses
but it's inconvenient.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send a mail to someone with fullname/email, eg: John Doe
john...@example.com
2. Start composing another mail, and start typing the recipient starting with:
jo
Actual Results:
Only the email address (john...@example.com) is autocompleted.

Expected Results:
The full original recipient address (ie: Name and email) should be included in
autocompletion. It would be even better if the behaviour were configurable.

[Bug 301449] New: Replying to a mail sent by another identity in the same kmail copy leads to replying to the sender identity itself

2012-06-08 Thread Tamás Németh

Bug ID: 301449

Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: nt1...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: composer
   Product: kmail2

I have two identities (email boxes) in my kmail installataion. One is my
workingplace address and the other is my gmail address both of them are
configured as disconnected IMAP. I sent a test mail from my workingplace
address to my gmail address. The I went to my gmail folders, downloaded the
message sent previusly from my other address, and started to reply to it. To
the greatest surprise, kmail wanted to send the reply mail to my gmail address,
not to the one it was sent from. I committed this test in the reverse layout
and the same thing happened: If kmail realizes that the sender is me then it
unconditionally wants to replace the recipient address with that of my current
identiy upon replying.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create two identities/mailboxes in kmail
2. Send a test mail from one to another
3. Go to the another account
4. Try to reply to that mail from your other address
Actual Results:
kmail sends the reply to the address of your current identity, not to yout
original sender address.

Expected Results:
Reply mails should probably always sent to the sender of the mail they are sent
to as a reply.

[Bug 287903] New: Moving, removing and renaming of imap folders doesn't work correctly

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs

AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: nt1...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

I use kmail2 (version 4.7.2) with disconnected imap connections. I realized
that it can well create folders, but folder moving, removing and renaming
doesn't work. Folder removing is simply ineffectual, while moving and removing
succedds, but kmail forgets(?) to unsubscribe from the old name, so the imap
server remains subscribed to nonexistent folders.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a dimap account (connected imap may also suffer from these bugs, but
I didnt try).
2. delete an imap folder
3. move an imap folder
4. rename an imap folder

Actual Results:
Deleting doesn't work at all, moing a renaming succeeds, but the old
subscription remains in place.

Expected Results:
(D)IMAP folder deletion, moving and renaming should entirely succeed.

Surprisingly this symptom appeared and disappeared
coincidently with https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=265121. Possibly because
of starting KDE with unlocked workspace?

However, after deleting my old KDE configurations and letting KDE 4.6 create a
new blank config it seems to work well. But anyway I still consider this a bug.

Kmails message list shows only the real names of senders/receivers which may be

this behaviour to apply the search to mail addresses unconditionally? (Or maybe

I don't know. It also took a very long time for KDE 4.2.2's kmail to
synchronize with the IMAP server, but that version was responsive during
synchronizing.

However, today I deleted the contents of the ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/dimap

-Deleted duplicate messages
-Extracted the date information from every message's Date: header field and:
-Renamed the file containing the message. The new names begin with the
seconds from 1970-01-01 00:00:00 until Date
-Changed the file's MTIME for the same date
-By moving the messages to newly created cur directories, it:
-Adjusted the files' CTIME order to the MTIME order
-The files are even created in the dorectory with this same order
-Sizes of the directory files are decreased if possible

I don't know if emptying the local dimap or cleaning up the server's maildirs
helped, but this process made kmail much faster and responsive.

[Bug 192480] response time regression in kde 4.2.3

--- Comment #2 from Tamás Németh nice titanic nyme hu 2009-05-13 09:23:39 ---
Now, in the morning, when many users are simultaneously connected to the IMAP
server, kmail becomes so unresponsive, that I'm almost unable to scroll the
incoming messages, and even typing a new messages suffers almost seconds of
delays.

I have a disconnectied imap account in kmail, which contains ~2 messages.
Since since upgrading to kde 4.2.3, kmail is much less responive after startup
and during message sync. It's almost totally unusable for about a minute when
synchronizing.

INteresting, it seems to me that it's only this slow when the imap server is
heavily loaded. Now (late at night) when the imap server is almost idle, the
synchronizations is much faster.

when knotes is not the active window! The toolbar of the bottom line
disappears, and the title bar changes on the top (even the close button

folder, except that it's placed directly under the INBOX. It should have a
similar (or the same) icon as the local sent items folder.

I sorted the mails by sender in the INBOX (which contains more than 16000
messages), selected about 50 consecutive mails, and stared to move the to
another folder. Kmail wrote Moving messages... onto the status field (bottom
left corner of the window), but the it started to use the hard drive heavily,
get unresponsive (compiz made it gray), and virtually did nothing, not even
showing a progress bar. I killed it, and realized, that it was trying to copy
ALL the messages (not just the selected ones) from the INBOX to the destination
folder, or something like that, at least the local copy of the destination
dimap folder contained thousands of mails after killing kmail.

When my networkmanager controlled network goes down, kmail remains in online
state. Firefox (and kmail in kde3 as far as I can remember) automatically
changes its state to offline and back to online as networkmanager swithes to
offline and back.

In addition to this, even after switched to offline state manually, after some
minutes, kmail starts to complain about an inexpectedly closed connection to
the server. Why does it have open connections to the server when it's in
disconnected state? Why doesn't it close all the connections then?

Your knotes is read only ?
Otherwise it works fine here (4.2.2+x86_64)

 Regards

I don't even know, how to make it read only. My notes are definitely stored in
~/.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes.ics, and the holding directory is also
read-write:

ta...@milleniumfalcon:~/.kde4/share/apps/knotes ls -al

drwx-- 3 tamas users 4096 ápr 10 11.25 .
drwxr-xr-x 29 tamas users 4096 ápr 7 18.37 ..

-rw-r--r-- 1 tamas users 103 ápr 10 11.25 notes.ics~

I'm also using it on the x86_64 architecture.

My usual method when updating kde versions was to backup
~/.kde4/share/apps/knotes and ~/.kde4/share/config/knotesrc, then remove
~/.kde4, upgrade kde, restore the beckup, and the run the new version of kde.
This worked well, even when upgrading from kde 3.5 to kde 4.1, but when I
upgrade from kde 4.2.1 to kde 4.2.2, all my notes were lost! Sadly, this time I
made no permanent backup :(
