[Akonadi] [Bug 435427] akonadi_imap_resource: segfault on authentication

2021-04-26 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435427

--- Comment #3 from Thiago Jung Bauermann ---
This crash just happened again, with the exact same backtrace. The last time it
happened was when I added my previous comment to this bug.

Again, the machine was idle for a long while (about 1h30m), but it didn't go to
sleep this time. The common factor seems to be the machine being idle for a
while. Perhaps there's a bug when periodic mail check is triggered while the
screensaver is active?

akonadi_kolab_resource (5.15.1 (20.08.1)) using Qt 5.14.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I wasn't doing anything related to KMail or Akonadi. This just happens by
itself (during periodic mail check, I would assume).
It has happened a couple of times. This last time the machine was idle for a
while and it went to sleep. When I came back to it, there was this crash. On
the first time, I don't remember if it was a similar situation.

kontact (5.13.3 (19.12.3)) using Qt 5.12.8

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I don't know if all of the actions below are relevant to the crash, but I'll
mention them for completeness:

1. I use KMail via the Kontact app.
2. I read a few messages in my Inbox, and moved a couple of them to other
folders.
3. I individually refreshed the Inbox and also these other two folders.
4. I replied to one email in one of the other folders.
5. After the email was successfuly sent, I refreshed that folder as well as the
Sent folder.
6. I closed Kontact.
7. Kontact crashed.

Also, as an aside my email is hosted on KolabNow and I configured KMail to
access it with the Akonadi Kolab resource.

My backtrace isn't identical to the one in this report, but almost. I would
wager it's the same issue. Unfortunately the Ubuntu crash tool tells me there
are no debuginfo packages I can install to improve the quality of the
backtrace.
These are the stock KDE packages from Ubuntu. At the moment they are the latest
version available.

[kmail2] [Bug 336205] kmail2 crashes after startup and all windows was opened

2016-10-17 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336205

--- Comment #15 from Thiago Jung Bauermann ---
The problem magically went away for me after I performed the following steps:

1. Opened Akonadi Console
2. Selected the "Local Folders" resource (akonadi_maildir_resource_0)
3. Selected "Configure ... → Configure Natively ..."
4. Closed the configuration dialog without changing anything
5. Selected "Configure ... → Configure Remotely ..."
6. Closed the configuration dialog without changing anything

The first time I started KMail after doing the above, the "Local Folders"
account had just the "Postausgang" and "Versendete Nachrichten" folders.
I closed and opened KMail again and now all folders are there.

Weird...

The backports ppa doesn't provide debug info for all packages, so some of the
libraries in the backtrace don't have debug info. Sorry about that. Still, it
does have a fair amount of detail.

The line:

I am also getting this error and this crash. I'll attach the debug output and
the backtrace.

I started running into this problem after trying to send an email via an SMTP
server which uses an untrusted TLS certificate. I think this confused KMail
beyond repair.

Not to mention that the dialog asking whether I wanted to use that certificate
was created under KMail's window and I only saw it after KMail crashed...

I just noticed that the folder properties window doesn't recognize a mailing
list from Yahoo Groups, but it does recognize a mailing list from Google
Groups.

The difference seems to be that an Yahoo Groups mailing list only has a header
telling how to unsubscribe from it, while one from Google Groups has headers
telling how to send messages, get help and unsubscribe.

[kmail2] [Bug 346280] New: Kontact crash when deleting search folder

2015-04-16 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346280

Bug ID: 346280
Summary: Kontact crash when deleting search folder
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.14.2
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: search
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: thiago.bauerm...@kolabnow.com
CC: m...@vhanda.in

Application: kontact (4.14.2)
KDE Platform Version: 4.14.2
Qt Version: 4.8.6
Operating System: Linux 3.13.0-36-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
These are more or less the steps I did. I haven't tried again yet to see
whether it would happen one other time:

1. I created a search folder where the search is confined to a few selected
folders.
2. Read some messages in the search folder.
3. Right-clicked on the search folder and changed the folders which were
searched
4. Read some more messages in the search folder.
5. Right-clicked on the searc folder to delete it.
6. Crash!

The messages it found weren't at all the ones I was expecting (it was a search
trying to find unread, important or todo messages). But that is probably an
unrelated bug.

This is my emailidentities file. All entries called "Unnamed" and "Unbennant"

--- Comment #6 from Thiago Jung Bauermann ---
I'm currently on KDE 4.14.2. I don't know if it is still reproducible.

But my point in comment 4 is that even if it isn't reproducible anymore, many
people will still have hundreds of identities because they were affected by
this bug in a previous release. The only way to remove the identities is to
edit an obscure configuration file.

I think it makes sense for current KMail releases to clean that up
automatically. The performance degradation in bug 341776 is currently
reproducible, and it greatly affects usage of KOrganizer. It's not just
showing/hiding resources. Everytime you try to add or edit an event, for
instance, you get 100% CPU usage and frozen UI for several tens of seconds.

A high number of identities leads to severe performance degradation in
korganizer (bug 341776)

Because of this history of bugs which add an unreasonable number of identities,
and because that has severe performance implications I suggest adding a sanity
check to kmail/korganizer that checks if the user has tens of empty identities,
all called "Unnamed" (and also the localized version of the string, I have
hundreds of "Unnamed" and hundreds of "Unbennant" identities), and if so
prompts the user asking if he wants them deleted.

I have exactly the same problem. It happened a while ago (I still have those
hundreds of identities though), so I don't remember what caused it. I think it
was a simple upgrade from 4.13 to 4.14, though I'm not sure.

It's a great pain to delete them because each time you delete one, all
Akonadi-using processes (Kontact, KAlaram, akonadi agents, akonadi resources)
use 100% CPU for a while, then they stop and Kontact uses 100% CPU before
deleting the identity. And during all that time the UI is frozen.

I have this problem too (KDE 4.11.2, Qt 4.8.2). There's bug 312550 against
kio/kssl which I believe is the cause of the SSL certificate failure. I suspect
that the problem is triggered with 128-bit RC4 certificates.

I didn't notice that the resource's runaway behavior was related to clicking on
the Details button. I'll experiment with that to confirm whether that is the
case for me too.

I did the nepomukctl restart but there's no message about invalid log entry in
replay. In fact, the only messages that show up in the console are like this:

"/org/freedesktop/UDisks2/drives/MATSHITADVD_RAM_UJ862A_HE96_229938" : property
"Drive" does not exist

Also, there's no message about invalig log entry in replay in my
~/.xsession-errors.

So in my case the problem has a different origin?

If I go to the folder properties dialog (by right-clicking on a folder), go to
the mailing list tab and ask it to automatically detect mailing list headers,
it still says it can't find any.

But if I have a message selected and I go to the menu Message → Mailing lists
there are entries there for sending a new message to the list, subscribing,
unsubscribing, and they work.

So I should say that it sort of works. :-)

[nepomuk] [Bug 294320] kmail complains about the semantic destkop not running, when it is

2013-09-25 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294320

--- Comment #20 from Thiago Jung Bauermann ---
Something interesting happened today, it may be related to this:

I was editing a message reply, and the reply window showed a passive
notification saying that the semantic desktop was't enabled (I don't remember
the exact words), but it wen't away quickly. At that moment I noticed that
virtuoso and akonadi_nepomuk_feeder were having a CPU/disk usage spike. I don't
know which came first, if it was the notification or the usage spike.

Right now (much later) I'm testing address completion in the "To" field and it
can find some contacts in my address book but not all. When it can't find the
contact in the addressbook, it shows as "contacts found in your files" ("in
Ihren Daten gefundene Kontakte").

This is with KDE 4.11.1, KMail 4.11.1, Akonadi 1.10.1, Virtuoso 6.1.6 in
Kubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.

that I recently enabled email searching in Nepomuk, possibly after I made the

Does mailing list support in KMail depend on Nepomuk?

I can reproduce this on KMail 4.11.1, Akonadi 1.10.1, Kubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.
KMail doesn't recognize kde-...@kde.org mailing list in a folder containing
only messages from that mailing list.

I have a couple of other mailing list folders (internal mailing lists at my
job, managed by mailman) which are detected, though.

KMail can't detect mailing lists in any folder in my GMail IMAP account (lists
from KDE, Google Groups, Yahoo Groups and mailman), and it can detect some but
not all mailing lists in my regular IMAP account from work.

I had this problem. On Akonadi Console, Akonadi Nepomuk Feeder had a status of

restarted the agent and it is now working. I didn't log out or turn off the
computer yet to see whether this will happen again.

Not sure if this is related, but maybe it provides some hint: yesterday
Nepomuk's file indexing service didn't start at all. I wanted to see the files
related to the current activity and the "folder" was empty. Also, the
timeline:/ feature wasn't available (it said the file indexing service had to
be running for it to work). Today it started correctly.

[kmail2] [Bug 319630] New: Improve discoverability of "Auto-render HTML for certain email addresses" feature.

2013-05-10 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319630

Bug ID: 319630
Summary: Improve discoverability of "Auto-render HTML for
certain email addresses" feature.
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.10.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: thiago.bauerm...@gmail.com

There's this option in the contact editing window:

kaddressbook -> contact -> edit it -> in tab contact => Prefer to receive
message formatted as "HTML"

I would suggest changing the option in the GUI to "Allow HTML messages from
this contact" or some such. I wouldn't know that the option is what I wanted if
I didn't read bug 63780 first (and I've been missing this feature for a while
now).

Also, this is a very useful feature that is *very* hard to discover. It would
be best if this option was available in the the menu that shows up when you
right-click the e-mail address in the From field.

Reproducible: Always

2013-05-10 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319628

Bug ID: 319628
Summary: Add "Save Attachments" entry to message and message
list menus
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.10.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: thiago.bauerm...@gmail.com

The "Save Attachments" feature is hard to discover. I spent a number of minutes
search through the GUI to see whether KMail had that feature. Eventually I
concluded that it didn't and saved all attachments from the e-mail one by one.

A few days later I found the menu entry by right-clicking in the message pane.
It didn't occur to me that it could be there (I didn't know about that menu
until then, in fact).

The first place I looked for "Save Attachments" was in the right-click menu in
the message list. The second was in the "Message" menu in the menu bar. I
believe those are the most intuitive places to look for the feature, and the
menu entry should be in both places.

Reproducible: Always

I did that and I have a log file with lots of debug output but I don't know
what I should be looking for. What should be the search term in the grep -A5

It's hard to check the kio_http output since requests from rekonq, chokoq,

akonadi_googlecalendar though. What would a kio_http entry from

I get this error message too. My Google Calendar resource has been configured a
long time ago, but only recently this error message started appearing, so I
would say the problem was introduced in KDE 4.10 or one of its point releases.

This particular error message affects only Google Calendar, though a few days
ago I tried to edit a Google contact and there was an error message displayed
too, albeit a different one.

kdebugdialog doesn't list any akonadi_google* item. The closest ones are

One thing that is worth noting is that neither of those events were created in
the Google web UI, and not in KOrganizer either. I created them (and a lot of
others in the same calendar but which work fine) in my Symbian cell phone and
synchronized them using the Mail for Exchange app.

[Akonadi] [Bug 313378] New: google calendar resource doesn't show all events

2013-01-16 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313378

Bug ID: 313378
Summary: google calendar resource doesn't show all events
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.9
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Google Resource
  Assignee: dvra...@redhat.com
  Reporter: thiago.bauerm...@gmail.com
CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org

The google calendar resource I set up is missing two events which do appear on
the google calendar website. Both are recurring. Inspecting them with akonadi
console (in the browser tab, using the calendar model), they have three things
in common:

- the "DateTime start" column for them is blank,
- the "DateTime end" column shows the date that on the google calendar website
is shown as the repetiton *start* date,
- the raw payload is much smaller than for all other events.

This is an example of the raw payload for one of these events:

This is with Kubuntu 12.04, KDE 4.9.5 and akonadi_googlecalendar_resource from
the kdepim-runtime package version 4:4.9.5-0ubuntu0.1~ubuntu12.04.1~ppa2.

Reproducible: Didn't try

[Bug 294215] Maildir resource doesn't see subfolders.

2012-12-20 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294215

--- Comment #12 from Thiago Jung Bauermann ---
It seems to me that KMail doesn't follow the maildir spec. Hence, I think this
bugzilla should be reopened. Or, if it stays as WONTFIX then KMail needs to
stop claiming that it supports Maildir.

What do you think?

--- Comment #8 from Thiago Jung Bauermann ---
I have the same problem on KDE 4.9 and Akonadi 1.8.0 (Kubuntu packages).
The maildir was created with offlineimap as well, with the following
configuration:

[Repository ltc-local]
type = Maildir
localfolders = /home/bauermann/trabalho/mail/ltc
sep = /

My machine with functioning Nepomuk. And in any case, it would be very strange
if supporting Maildir subfolders depended on Nepomuk.

On a side note, if it is relevant: mail search doesn't work. I search for a
keyword I know is in the body of a message and the message doesn't show up (I
selected the option to search in body of messages of course).
