Something like that. Maybe not red as it's often used to indicate errors. Isn't
there some color constants for each theme you can use for highlight?

Akonadi has - again - crapped out, resulting in a non-functioning kdepim, so I
can't test it myself.
It does look a bit sharper, but my old eyes would prefer some more distinction.

In what context is a light background an issue? I fail to see the relevanse
here.

> In the KMail version I use, there's a "Do not change color from original
> HTML mail" option on the Appearance / Colors tab. Did you already try it?

This doesn't make any difference for most HTML emails, but for plain text it
has the unwanted effect of reversing the dark theme. See attachment.

Looking at #365315 it looks like an Akregator issue as it sounds like doesn't
honour any HTML/CSS defined colours. In KMail there is a difference between the
text view and the HTML view.

2020-11-08 Thread Thomas Tanghus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414100

As I wrote in #428500 Many if not all HTML mail composers assumes that the
background is light, and thus doesn't specify a background colour. If you use
e.g. Breeze dark it often leads to black letters on dark grey background.
Here it could possibly be solved by having a light background in HTML emails
per default, perhaps with an option in Settings/Appearance/Colors.

If the HTML email has a background defined it will be automatically rendered
instead, and if it has a background defined there's a high probability that it
also sets the font colour(s).

It would - as far as I can see - solve both #317803 and #317198 and it would
leave a very small (theoretical) subset where the text is difficult to read, as
opposed to now when it is a very small subset that is easily readable.

Thanks for catching my duplicate btw. I'm pretty sure I searched for "dark
theme" but didn't get any results - but I could be wrong ;)

SUMMARY
When switching back and forth between e.g. calendar view and To-do view, the

the Categories column should always be much wider.

SUMMARY
I recently reinstalled/upgraded to Kubuntu 19.04, and wanted to see, if kde-pim
stability had improved. I was first very pleasantly surprize-d - for a while.
Now it's the calendar that's acting up.

I have 4 calendars in my Nextcloud instance. They all work fine in Thunderbird,
Nextcloud web-client and to a certain degree in SailfishOS.
Two times within a week, the calendar, where I keep the events (the others are
for Tasks, Journal and Contact Birthdays) doesn't show any events in Month
view.
First time I Shut down akonadi, removed every trace of the Nextcloud Akonadi
agent, and recreated it.
It worked fine for a day or two, but now the events are not showing up in
korganizer. Again, it shows perfectly fine in other clients, and I can see the
events in akonadiconsole.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure a Nextcloud agent.
2. Wait

OBSERVED RESULT
The calendar disappears after some time.

EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to use the calendar.

Where the interesting line is:

qt.network.ssl: QSslSocket::startClientEncryption: cannot start handshake on
non-plain connection

The smtp setting is set to use STARTTLS with PLAIN authentication. But maybe
that's another kinda 'plain'? ;)

Also:

- I tried restarting 'Mail dispatcher Agent'. 'No items in queue' or something
like that.

- The composed email is copied to the 'Sent' folder, but of course there are no
delivery headers.
- And it isn't in the outbox (local folder).

So it doesn't look like #192046

Oh btw: There was a large update a couple of days ago, with what looked like
KDE Frameworks.

A couple of years ago I had to ditch kdepim for Thunderbird, and now after a
reinstall I was so glad to be back, as everything seemed to work ok.
I had used kmail since it started and loved it very much, but I have to say
after a couple of years using Thunderbird I never had reasons to file a bug
report. Now after max a couple of weeks kmail/akonadi is basically useless to
me. So sad :(

[knotes] [Bug 347073] New: KNotes can't load from ICS file anymore

2015-05-02 Thread Thomas Tanghus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347073

Bug ID: 347073
Summary: KNotes can't load from ICS file anymore
   Product: knotes
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tho...@tanghus.net
CC: myr...@kde.org

I have always used KNotes with an ICS file, but now it seems like it only
recognizes maildir collection resources - Akonotes - and it is selectable in
the KNotes Collections dialog, but it doesn't show in the akonadiconsole
browser.

It is still possible to create an ICS Notes resource, and I can see the notes
in the
akonadiconsole browser, but that is not very useful, as it isn't available in
the KNotes Collections dialog.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a Notes resource and point it to an existing KNotes ICS file.
2. From the KNotes popup select Configure KNotes...=> Collections

Actual Results:
The Notes resource is nowhere to be seen...

Expected Results:
The Notes resource should be available and selectable, and when selected the
notes should be loaded and shown when clicking on the KNotes plasmoid; in this
case from the systray.

For me this is a serious regression as I use the notes regularly.
This is the same as in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1147426 and
according to the comments from Daniel and Kevin it should work - but it doesn't
;)

Running 4.14.2 btw, but that version isn't available in the list.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tho...@tanghus.net
CC: myr...@kde.org

When clicking on the knotes systray button it opens up starting from the bottom
of the screen, thus overlapping the systray. This leads to mistakingly opening
a note instead of closing the popup when clicking once again on the same
posistion.

This is on Kubuntu 14.04 using KDE SC 4.14. The knotes version is also 4.14,
but that entry doesn't appear in the version list.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on knotes icon in systray to open popup
2. Click again to close popup

Actual Results:
A random note opens

Expected Results:
The popup should close again

You will probably need to have enough notes to fill the screen height in at
least one row; maybe more.

I updated Saturday 23/8-2014 from the Kubuntu PPA on 14.04, and initially
thought it was just a quiet weekend ;)
After checking with my webmail (RoundCube) I could see that I had received
several mails, that KMail didn't pick up.
I use a hosted mail service running Courier IMAP, and I have confirmed the same
issue with another user also using Courier IMAP.

I'm not very keen on trying to delete/create a new resource, as I have dozens
of filters and dozens of folders each with different setups, so it would take
me hours to recreate the setup.

How can I debug the cause of this so I can provide proper info?

The problem wasn't that I wanted to see it as plain text, but rather the
opposite. If the global setting is "show as HTML" and the contact setting is
"Show messages received from this contact as: HTML" then it shows the email as
plain text ;)

[kmail2] [Bug 336653] kmail inverts HTML view settings

2014-06-24 Thread Thomas Tanghus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336653

OK, it seems I have found the reason:

I tried a while ago to have a separate addressbook for whitelisting specific
email adresses to show as HTML and load external references.
As that was ignored in previous versions I disabled the addressbook and went
back to just having it as default.
Now the contact specific settings is taken into account, instead of using that
setting, it inverts the global setting!

This sounds like an honest mistake and an easy fix.

My guess is that it is coded like this (pseudo code)

renderHTML = globalRenderHTML;
if(contactSettingRenderHTML) {
renderHTML = !globalRenderHTML;
}

Where instead it should be:

renderHTML = globalRenderHTML;
if(contactSettingRenderHTML) {
renderHTML = contactSettingRenderHTML;
}

While fixing it please consider only rendering the content after any contact
specific setting has been read, because as it is now it first shows the plain
text version and then afterwards it renders the HTML version.
Also the addressbook in question was disabled. Shouldn't disabled addressbooks
be ignored? Even though I would never have found the reason if they were ;)

But great that whitelisting email addresses this way works now :)

  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

I have KMail set to show HTML and load external references.
After upgrading to Kubuntu 14.04 it shortly shows the messages as HTML, but
then reverts to plain text and the toggle button I had added doesn't work.
After changing the settings to *not* show as HTML and *not* load external
references, it now does show HTML and loads external references :P

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set KMail to show as HTML and load external references.

Actual Results:
It shows plain text

Expected Results:
It should show as HTML

I'm on 4.13.2 but it is marked as 4.13.1 as that what the highest selectable
version.

This is because of the Akonadi resource not normalizing the URI. It sends a
request like:

PUT
/remote.php/carddav/addressbooks/tanghus/contacts/http://www.google.com/m8/feeds/contacts/xx...@googlemail.com/base/4105ff60d891cad.vcf

Which will of course fail because of the extra slashes in the principal URI.

Bug ID: 331793
   Summary: Akregator crash when idle
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: akregator
   Version: 4.12.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tho...@tanghus.net

Application: akregator (4.12.2)
KDE Platform Version: 4.12.2
Qt Version: 4.8.6
Operating System: Linux 3.11.0-17-generic i686
Distribution: Ubuntu 13.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Since long I've been running Akregator standalone because of webkit part
crashing all the time. Now I very rarely get crashes, but have gotten a few the
past weeks.
I couldn't find any backtraces similar to this - the GL - something raise is
seen in many, but this line 103 (I think it was) in Akregator main I couldn't
find. I'm also not sure what package to get the missing debug symbols from. The
automatic search doesn't find them.

[akregator] [Bug 329720] New: Akregator memory leak?

2014-01-08 Thread Thomas Tanghus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329720

Bug ID: 329720
   Summary: Akregator memory leak?
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: akregator
   Version: 4.12
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tho...@tanghus.net

After having Akregator open for a couple of days it's resident memory use goes
from ~400MB to >2500MB.
I run it standalone and have around 150 feeds.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Akregator
2. Watch memory usage via System Activity or the RES column in top/htop
3. Let it run for a couple of days
4. Repeat step 2.
Actual Results:
The memory usage is over 5 times what it was when starting the program

Expected Results:
The memory usage shouldn't have increased significantly.

[Akonadi] [Bug 324932] Cannot delete IMAP folder

2013-09-18 Thread Thomas Tanghus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324932

Hmm, I made a clean build dir, applied the patch, restarted akonadi and still
get:

C: A000514 SELECT "INBOX.Notifications.BoxeeHacks"
S: * FLAGS ( \Draft \Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Recent )
S: * OK Limited [ PERMANENTFLAGS ( \* \Draft \Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen

S: * OK Ok [ UIDVALIDITY 1355272761 ]
S: * OK ACL [ MYRIGHTS acdilrsw ]

C: A000515 STORE 1:* +FLAGS (\DELETED)
S: A000515 OK STORE completed.
C: A000516 EXPUNGE
S: A000516 OK EXPUNGE completed
C: A000517 DELETE "INBOX.Notifications.BoxeeHacks"
S: A000517 NO Cannot delete currently-open folder.

The new resource is properly installed:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 8528593 Sep 18 14:08 /usr/bin/akonadi_imap_resource

But I also got:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7978566 Sep 3 20:38
/usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/akonadi_imap_resource

Does that interfere with it?

I've updated my kdepim-runtime clone. These days there are usually years
between I compile anything; can you give the exact command for recompiling it,
and is it enough to compile resources/imap?

I thought so, but could be a fancy shell feature I didn't know ;)

Well the answer is pretty clear. Apparently you have to select a different
folder before you can delete it. This has to be done by kimap/akonadi as it's
not possible to RMB-click on a folder without selecting it.

Just to be sure: Is the path /home/.../kimap.log literately meant, or just to

I also have this problem. I have a folder INBOX.Notifications.BoxeeHacks which
I try to delete.
In akonadiconsole debug information view I get:

NotificationManager::notify ( Items () in collection 1007 removed )
NotificationManager::notify ( Collections ((1007,.BoxeeHacks)) in collection 66
removed )
AgentBase(akonadi_imap_resource_1): Failed to delete the folder, restoring
folder list.
NotificationManager::notify ( Collections ((1050,.BoxeeHacks)) in collection 66
added )

And in the all tab:

[Akonadi] [Bug 318662] New: AgentManager can't delete "ghost" agent

2013-04-21 Thread Thomas Tanghus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=318662

Bug ID: 318662
Summary: AgentManager can't delete "ghost" agent
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.10
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tho...@tanghus.net

When testing DAV resource with ownCloud I was left with a ghost entry of an
agent. I had manually configured a CardDAV agent and after deleting it, it is
still listed in Kontact Contacts and in the Browser tab of akonadiconsole. It
isn't listed in the agent list.
In akonadiconsoles Browser tab the "Delete folder" entry in the context menu is
grayed out, and when I select "Delete Address Book" From Kontact the following
is displayed in .xsession-errors and nothing else happens:

void AgentManager::removeAgentInstance(const QString&) Agent instance with
identifier "" does not exist

The Attributes tab of folder properties says:
ENTITYDISPLAY: ("OC Contacts" "folder-remote" "" ())
AccessRights: WCD

The Internals tab shows
Identifier 76
Remote identifier akonadi_davgroupware_resource_74
Content types: inode/directory; text/directory

When selecting "Dump to XML..." and select a file name, the following is
written:
"Cannot connect to agent instance with identifier
'akonadi_davgroupware_resource_74', error message: 'Could not get owner of name
'org.freedesktop.Akonadi.Resource.akonadi_davgroupware_resource_74': no such
name'"

Reproducible: Didn't try

Actual Results:
The agent can't be fully deleted

Expected Results:
The AgentManager should remove all parts of the agent.

FWIW the invalid ETag issue has been fixed for oC 5.0.4 by not returning
anything on creation as the vCard may be altered in the process. Subsequent
requests will return a correct ETag.
Sorry for the trouble it may have caused.

And thanks for giving me my contacts back Grégory :)

I'm sorry to bother again, but I really think this is a grave security issue.
MUAs should help protect users against fishing attempts, and currently KMail
does the opposite.
In Denmark we have a lot of mails spoofing e.g. the tax authorities addresses,
and the general advice is to hover over the links in the mail to see where they
point. I KMail this doesn't work, so you have to view the source of the mail.

[Bug 95064] Duplicates messages in imap folder after filtering

Just wanted to join the choir ;)
I only now got struck by this bug, and from reading
https://blogs.kde.org/2012/10/17/three-days-berlin-or-improving-pim-user-experience
I thought a fix or workaround would be backported to 4.9.3. I am now on 4.9.4
and get this:

I two filters set up to catch mails from a github repository.

1. List-Id contains '' and CC contains
=> mark as important. The filter is set to keep processing
if it matches.

2. List-Id contains '' => Move into folder
'Notifications/Github'.

After filtering is applied 'Notifications/Github' contains two copies of the
same mail.

For now I'm going to disable the first filter until this is solved; KMail is
still the best mail client around, and KDEPIM is really starting to shine now
most Akonadi problems seems to have been addresses.

No problem. It's just test data. The ACL for the collection looks OK to me. It
only has write-content permission, but the Akonadi DAV resource apparently
interprets that as write including bind and unbind?
The bind and unbind on the contained resource is superfluous, but the client
should just ignore it as I understand from the RFC
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3744#section-3.9

The permissions are checked here btw

I'm still trying to grasp WebDAV ACLs, so I may have made errors in them :-P
