[akregator] [Bug 341158] New: Don't switch feed with right click

2014-11-21 Thread Todd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341158

Bug ID: 341158
Summary: Don't switch feed with right click
   Product: akregator
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: toddrme2...@gmail.com

Currently, when you right-click on a folder or feed, it not only opens the
right-click menu, it also switches to that feed. The problem is that this
requires loading up the feed, which can result in the UI freezing until the
feed is loaded (which on my system can be many seconds), preventing you from
actually using the right-click menu.

Since you can also switch to a feed using the left-click, this is redundant.
Further, most, if not all, the tasks in the right-click menu do not benefit
from switching to the feed (at least in the foreground), so blocking the UI
while the feed is being read only serves to interfere with what you are trying
to do.

I think this is still valid and should be implemented in Kmail2. MS Outlook has
this feature and if you are used to using that you would expect it in Kmail.

Soprano really should be at 2.7.3, not 2.7.0. You should contact Kubuntu and
try to get them to update.

soprano-daemon 2.7.0+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2

That may be the problem. The current version is 2.7.3, which is the version
recommended for KDE 4.7.3. There have apparently been major improvements from
2.7.0 to 2.7.3, including performance and indexing improvements. You should
probably see if you can get the kubuntu devs to upgrade to the current version.

[Bug 99653] Adding option to show tray icon only for unread feeds (like kmail)

2011-09-05 Thread Todd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99653

--- Comment #15 from Todd toddrme2178 gmail com 2011-09-05 09:05:30 ---
I don't think it even needs to be an option, since the system tray has a
built-in option that lets users always show or always hide the icon. Akregator
would just need to tell the system tray that it isn't important when there are
no unread messages, and the user can decide what to do.

Aaron recently put a call out for developers to fix these sorts of issues:
http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2011/08/system-tray-icon-hiding.html

[Bug 279800] New: akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder uses huge amounts of memory

2011-08-10 Thread Todd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279800

Summary: akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder uses huge amounts of
memory
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Nepomuk Feeder Agents
AssignedTo: to...@kde.org
ReportedBy: toddrme2...@gmail.com
CC: vkra...@kde.org, kdepim-bugs@kde.org

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

Whenever I use akonadi, the process akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder uses a massive
amount of memory, usually between 1 and 3 GB. This leave the system almost
totally unresponsive due constant disk access. I can kill the process, but it
just comes back again. Upon startup or the process restarting it uses GB of
ram within seconds.

I deleted all my accounts besides one tiny one with about a dozen emails, and
it still uses this much memory.

Here is the detailed information from the run command interface process monitor
from just now:

Process 3454 - akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder

Summary

The process akonadi_nepomuk_emai (with pid 3454) is using approximately 1.5 GB
of memory.

It is using 1.5 GB privately, and a further 23.5 MB that is, or could be,
shared with other programs.

Dividing up the shared memory between all the processes sharing that memory we
get a reduced shared memory usage of 2.8 MB. Adding that to the private usage,
we get the above mentioned total memory footprint of 1.5 GB.
Library Usage

The memory usage of a process is found by adding up the memory usage of each of
its libraries, plus the process's own heap, stack and any other mappings.

[Bug 271471] New: Akonadi stops /home folder from opening.

2011-04-22 Thread David Todd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=271471

Summary: Akonadi stops /home folder from opening.
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 1.5.1
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: cont...@darkscot.me.uk

Version: 1.5.1 (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS:Linux

On the rare occasions that Akonadi starts successfully, I am unable to open my
/home folder. If I try to open it then Dolphin opens but none of the
sub-folders or contents are displayed. If I go direct to a sub-folder (such as
documents or downloads) then they open correctly. If I start Dolphin from
Konsole I get:

QPixmap::scaled: Pixmap is a null pixmap

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Log into desktop, if Akonadi starts normally then problem occurs. If Akonadi
crashes (as it usually does), then problem does not occur.

I agree 100%! I have several filters that no longer work because the 'category'
field has disappeared! Being able to filter on categories was really useful,
both for receiving and sending email.

[Bug 224617] New: Kontact/Kmail crashes when attempting to send an email with an attachment

2010-01-28 Thread David Todd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=224617

Summary: Kontact/Kmail crashes when attempting to send an email
with an attachment
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: gen37...@yahoo.co.uk

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.2
KDE Version: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31.6-desktop-1mnb i686
Distribution: Mandriva Linux 2010.0

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Any time I try to send an email with an attachment (of any file type) Kontact
will crash. On restarting Kontact, the email will be in the Outbox apparently
undamaged and with the attachment in place. The email can then be sent as
normal.

A crash also occurs if a newly composed email with an attachment is deleted or
tried to save to drafts.

This crash occurs every time!

[Bug 189703] Auto spell check option before sending

2009-04-16 Thread David Todd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189703

--- Comment #2 from David Todd gen37_19 yahoo co uk 2009-04-16 14:30:47 ---
It is extra security, especially for business and/or formal emails. Even with
the auto spell checking there is still the chance you will click 'send' before
making the corrections. This is especially true when there is a lot of text in
an email, you may not notice one or two errors.

Most email packages have an option to automatically do a spell check when you
press 'send'. This can be an extremely useful function and can avoid the risk
of accidentally sending an email full of spelling misteaks.

I receive regular email newsletters with numerous links to websites in them. I
would like to be able to click on these links, have the relevant web pages open
but stay with Kmail.

At the moment when you click on a link you are immediately transferred to the
browser window. This means you have to switch back to Kmail, click on the next
link, go to the browser, switch back to Kmail, click on the link etc. This is

It would be very nice to be able to click on several links and have the pages
open in the background.

I also lost my incoming accounts (but not outgoing or messages). I was copying
a large amount of data from an external drive which filled up my /home
directory. When Kmail tried to retrieve mail I got a message something like
unable to retrieve messages due to insufficient disk space Kmail will now
close. This message appeared for each account that was 'deleted'!

When you open Kontact, Kmail open in a separate window. As if they were two
separate applications. This happens every time and doesn't matter Kontact or
Kmail has been running before or not.

This only happens with KDE4 desktop. When you open Kontact in Gnome everything
is fine.
