I observe the following symptoms:

- When I delete mails using the delete-key, they disappear from the
IMAP-folder, but do not appear in the Trash (local folder).
- After syncing the IMAP folder the mails reappear.
- Moving mails by drag and drop works as expected, *even when moving to the
Trash*. (Moving to other IMAP-folders works as well.)

The symptoms started when I upgraded from akonadi-server-1.10.3 to
akonadi-server-1.11.0. I performed no other updates at that time. (I'm running
gentoo stable, KDE version is 4.11.5)

Vcard import to addressbook. The same vcard works flawless (import/export) on a
different 64bit gentoo-linux kde-plasma5 installation.
A version or 32/64 bit incompatibility is suspected as the reason. Please debug
and remove this serious bug.
It keeps crashing kontact whenever the kaddressbook plugin is opened and
required deletion of the whole akonadi databse to fix.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[kmail2] [Bug 317423] New: Folder list doesn't obey system fonts

2013-03-27 Thread Frank
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317423

Bug ID: 317423
Summary: Folder list doesn't obey system fonts
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.10.1
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: francis.e...@gmail.com

I have set my fonts to 192 DPI, and Kmail mostly looks fine, however when
receiving new mail, the text is huge! I have set the system font to 5 to
compensate for this, however this area does not obey this setting and I see no
other way to configure this. When actually viewing the mail, it is again fine.
The area I am talking about moves from the side to the bottom based on the
"Folder List" layout setting in the appearence section of kmail configuration
depending on Short or Long, hopefully you know what I mean.

Reproducible: Always

Example of issue

Here is an example... as you can see, the rest of the app is showing reasonable
fonts, but where I've selected, the fonts remain the default size 10 (the rest
are size 5 with 192 DPI)

   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.5
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: fp...@netidea.com

Application: kontact (4.4.5)
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4) "release 2"
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.34.7-0.3-desktop x86_64

-- Information about the crash:
My computer crassed while using Openoffice Base. I'd just hit the 'Finished'

Hope this helps make KDE even better. It's great!

Version:(using KDE Devel)
Installed from:Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 4.2.3 20071014 (prerelease) (Debian 4.2.2-3)
OS:Linux

I started to look at kmail 1.9.50. I have a local dovecot IMAP server and I
read eMails with IMAP not DIMAP.

I edited the identity to show Sent is sent-mail folder. But in Sent still
Sender column is displayed instead switching to Receiver column like kmail
1.9.7 does.

I vote against this. If you have a column switching between Receiver and Sender
depending on whether you sent or received the mail - it would just be really
confusing.

Example: A sent you (B) an email. You replied to it, then he replies again.
What would you get?

Now:
+A
+-B
+--A

Then:
+A (Sender)
+-A (Receiver)
+--A(Sender)

I have setting for MDN to be asked wether I wanna send or not. This works, when
I read email. But when I delete, without reading it, kmail don't askes, but
send MDN.

This is espacially unhelpful when deleting spam eMail with MDN.

Can you provide a test mail (to gpg4win-intern) and the public key?

I just looked through the source. I think the problem is, that
KMFilterAction::SendMDN calls msg->createMDN with  KMime::MDN::AutomaticAction.
Thats ok, but if this is called every user interaction is skipped.

I think in that case kmail should either ask, or just don't send any MDN, as
the user discarded (filtered) the message anyway.

I might have had this problem today [KMail/1.9.6 (enterprise
0.20070907.709405), Kubuntu 7.10].

When starting either Kontact or KMail, there was an error message about my
Google Mail account which I access with IMAP:

Authorization failed, Unable to login. Probably the password is wrong.
The server imap.googlemail.com replied:
System Error (Failure) authentication not supported

Clicking OK (the only option in this box) brought up a dialog asking for
username and password. I then entered my password (I'm pretty sure it was
correct) and clicked OK, but this only made the "Authorization failed" box
appear again. I repeated this a few times without success and finally decided
to click "Cancel". This caused KMail/Kontact to hang and use 100% of the CPU
(reproducibly), so I had to kill it manually. I managed to get a few backtraces
by sending the process the SIGSEV signal, I could attach one if anyone thinks
it's useful.

After some time, the problem disappeared. I guess it was a temporary problem
with the mail server, but I think KMail should give the user some way to get
out of this "Authorization failed" thing (e.g., if he wants to check some other
mail accounts that still work).

If this bug is the same thing that I experienced, it is not a duplicate of bug
109036 (in this bug, the dialog box pops up over and over again, but KMail does
not hang).

Concerning my comment #19:

I found a way to reproduce this (KMail/Kontact hangs using 100% CPU) even if
the IMAP server works all right, but only with the version KMail/1.9.6
(enterprise 0.20070907.709405) that comes with Kubuntu 7.10. The current SVN
version (revision 796375) seems to work OK.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open KMail settings and change the password of a receiving IMAP account
(Google Mail in my case) to something wrong. Close the settings dialog. KMail
then tries to check mail using the wrong password, opens an Error dialog (click
OK) and an Authorization dialog (click Cancel). Close Kontact.

2. Open Kontact. You get an error message about the failed Authorization. Click
OK and then Cancel in the Authorization Dialog.

3. Kontact hangs and has to be killed manually.

But as I said, the current SVN version works OK. When I open Kontact and click
Cancel in the Authorization dialog prompting me for the correct password, I get
the same dialog once more, but clicking Cancel again ends this, and I can use
Kontact normally (except for the account with the wrong password).

Thanks for investigating this! Indeed, the synchronous implementation seems
broken. I think your fix isn't correct for the asynchronous case though, and
would reintroduce the bug the resetDataObjects() call was supposed to fix.
I don't see an easy way to fix this without breaking other assumptions made,

*** delete this message with MDN popup window remains open
* click on ignore in the MDN popup

now this is interesting/confusing: on a different computer but with same
versions of kmail, kde, and linux, the not quoting problem does NOT appear. I
use YAST to install the packages and resolve dependencies.

ok, found the culprit. It was the setting in the "composer/standard templates"
that was set to BLANK (for reasons unclear to me).

In addition to the changed default shortcuts, I can also confirm the second
problem, namely the shortcuts not being remembered when one changes them.

[Bug 176000] New: clicking on url in mail launches mozilla/thunderbird not firefox

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Version:(using KDE 4.1.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

double click to open an url in a mail should launch mozilla firefox, but it
launches mozilla/thunderbird (mail and calender).

this behaviour started with some update, but i cannot identify what was changed
and cannot see where to change it back.

running kpim in a gnome environment, i do not see where i can set the prefered
appllications for url/html. (i understand that there is such a tool in the kde
environment) i suggest that you add corresponding selection tool somewhere in
kpim so it can be used freestanding.

for a workaround, please tell me which file i have to edit. i was searching for
this information but could not identify the correct file.

i have checked and rechecked my settings in system->preferences->preferred
applications. they are set to firefox for the webbrowser and kmail.

it seems that either
- the settings are not written out to a file
- kmail is not reading the file that gnome is writting (which file should it be
for gnome? which file is kmail reading to see what my preferences are).

but in anycase - opening a url in a mail should not result in a call to
mozilla/thunderbird but to firefox.

where is this string stored so i can change it with an editor?
thank you for your help!

andrew

Sometimes I would mark some messages as important and action items. However,
my messages were spread in different folders, and it was a bit difficult to
find which folder contains important or action item messages. I hope to add
such fields in folder tree view.

[Bug 202794] kontact crash while clicking on an image at kde-look.org

--- Comment #3 from Frank Osterfeld 2009-08-08

The fix is not in trunk. I stopped forwardporting fixes from 4.3 to trunk as
the 4.4 akregator is in the akonadi-ports branch and its codebase is majorly
changed since 4.3 already. It is easier to review the changes in 4.3 once we
merge akonadi-ports back to trunk, instead of fighting conflicts in then-to-be
dead/rewritten code.
We could make exceptions for crashes like this (which is in code that won't
change during the Akonadi port), to ease the pain for trunk users. OTOH, it's
harder then to track which changes are already merged and which are not.

[Bug 208510] New: kontact does not quit correctly

2009-09-25 Thread Frank Thieme
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208510

Summary: kontact does not quit correctly
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.3.1
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: fr...@fthieme.net

Version: 4.3.1 (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Unlisted Binary Package

Severity: Bug or crash - I can't really decide.

I use Kontact with kmail and akgregator inside. I'm using the chakra (kdemod)
packages for archlinux.

Problem: When I quit Kontact, the window and systray icons are gone, but
kontact is still in the process list. This leads to a crash on starting kontact
again.

I believe it is triggered when I open a link inside a feed post in akregator.
Because when I just read mail, it does not happen.

OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: frank...@goodhorse.idv.tw

Version:(using KDE 4.3.2)

I set up my KMail to
1. Always ask if it contains Disposition Notification Request (DNR).
2. Jump to the first unread or new mail when clicking into a folder.
3. Mark the mail as read right after choosing it.

If a mail contains Disposition Notification Request, then it will jump a dialog
asking me if I want to sent it or not. However, if I click another folder to
show a new mail BEFORE the dialog pops up and the whole KMail windows darkens,
the KMail will always crash.

[Bug 207050] accept certificate forever without being prompted

2009-11-16 Thread Peer Frank
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207050

--- Comment #1 from Peer Frank 2009-11-16 16:00:10 ---
bug still there in version 1.12.3 (KDE3.3.3).
Each time I send mail via this mail server I am prompted to accept this
certificate. In spite of selecting "forever" I'm prompted again after kmail
fetches mail the next time. I select again "forever". Then no more "Server
Authentication" prompts in spite of mail checking on this server until I send
the next message. Looks like sending a message deletes the "accept certificate
forever" flag.

[Bug 222054] New: next unread jumps to folder marked as "not act on new/unread"

2010-01-10 Thread Frank Thieme
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222054

Summary: next unread jumps to folder marked as "not act on
new/unread"
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.0
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: fr...@fthieme.net

Version: 1.13.0 (using Devel)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Compiled sources

I use KDE SC 4.4 RC1, but it happened in beta2, too. In 4.3.4 it acted normal.
Packages are KDEmod-testing for Archlinux.

When I press "+" for next unread message, kmail jumps to my Junk folder,
presenting me new messages. But I have unmarked the "act on new/unread
messages" for this folder. So it shouldn jump in that folder at all.

I have had the same problem for a long time now, and haven't found any other
workaround then to close kmail after resuming.

[Bug 188885] missing AKONADI_PARAM_EXTERNALPAYLOAD to compile kdepimlibs

--- Comment #2 from Frank Roscher 2009-04-06 14:17:35 ---
I get the same here, using kdesvn-build.
Apparently the system's Akonadi in /usr is being used instead of the
freshly-compiled trunk version in my home directory.

This is the only part of KDE where I encounter such a problem. This suggests to
me that there is indeed a problem to be fixed, but I guess it could be
kdesvn-build's fault, too.
