[Bug 217650] New: photos getting deformed in GUI

2009-12-06 Thread Jakob Sack
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217650

Summary: photos getting deformed in GUI
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: jakob.s...@googlemail.com
CC: to...@kde.org

Version: 4.4 pre (using 4.3.80 (KDE 4.3.80 (KDE 4.4 Beta1)), Mandriva
Linux release 2010.1 (Cooker) for x86_64)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31.6-desktop-2mnb

Nearly all my contacts photos are sqare. The new Addressbook squeezes the photo
in a 3:2 (?) ratio and deforms them this way.
On the other hand the photos in the name list (the column in the middle) have a
1:1 ratio so the photos having the 3:2 ratio get deformed.

I suggest making the photo in the right column flexible (max width and height X
pixels).
For the tiny thumbnails in the name list I don't know a soltion, IMHO they are
too small to be helpful anyways.

[Bug 167830] IMAP folder subscription: Crashes and not all folders shown

The SERVER I'm connecting to is at university: mailhost.imada.sdu.dk. I have no
idea what software or even operating system it runs (probably linux, but could
be solaris or even windows). I think it broadcasts my entire home folder (NFS
share) at that place, over IMAP.

Btw I finally got it working, by typing something (without deleting any
characters) in the filter field and selecting the folder I want (which is just
my inbox). I suppose this would have been easier if I had an idea of how IMAP
works, or is supposed to work, bu t I'm a complete NERD when it comes to email;
I always find id *ridiculously* complicated to set up, and I wish there was
software that made it easier.

Why doesn't KMail just import the settings from the KDE3 version automatically,
that would have saved me a lot of time.

This is what happens:
When I click 'subscriptions', the dialog comes up, folder list empty. After a
while (~ 1min) the label reads '744 matching', and the list is populated -- by
a single, *blank but expandable* entry. Expanding it yields the attached
picture.

If I type in the filter box, the list gets populated (by matches). Pressing
backspace while typing in the box leads to the crash.

Wow, that works indeed. Well, I always disable the preview of mails so actually
nothing happens when click the down arrow. Now that you've said this I checked
it out for myself and it does work like you say. 3.5 years of using kmail and I
just discovered this new feature.

Anyway, is there a way for me to change this behavior since I don't use mail

Actually, I think it's a bug report not a wish.

When I'm in some mail folder in kmail in the list view and there's one mail
selected and I want to select the next one (which is right underneath) I have
to click the right arrow key but the down arrow does not work. This makes no
sense at all. The next mail is underneath the first one, so it would be natural
to move around with up and down arrows. It took me quite a while to figure out
that instead the right and left arrow keys are working. To a new user this
behavior is pretty frustrating.

I use online resources for my calendar where birthdays are shown lasting from
0:01 of a day until 24:00 or 0:00. These online resources thus show the
birthday lasting the whole day, though when I import this into Kontact's

24:00 or 0:00 as already belonging to the following day. Please remove this as

[Bug 166677] New: "Mark as Unread" shortcut doesn't work (Ctrl-U)

2008-07-15 Thread Jakob Petsovits
--- You are receiving this mail because: ---
You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166677
Summary: "Mark as Unread" shortcut doesn't work (Ctrl-U)
   Product: kmail
   Version: SVN trunk (KDE 4)
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: keys and menus
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: jpetso gmx at

Even though Ctrl-U is selected as shortcut for the "Mark as Unread" action (now
even by default, yay), it doesn't work when being pressed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make sure Ctrl-U is assigned the "mark as unread" action in the shortcuts
dialog.
2. Select a mail in the message list. (It's now marked as "read".)
3. Press Ctrl-U, and select a nearby other mail so that you can see the
previously selected mail still being black ("read") instead of blue ("unread")
which would have been the expected outcome.

It might be a focus issue, or xmlgui swallowing the shortcut. Might also be some
ugly combination of unfortunate circumstances in Qt/kdelibs communication.
Akregator seems to suffer from the same bug (shortcut for "unread" doesn't work
- and many other shortcuts as well), although I can't tell if Akregator is
suffering from a different issue maybe.

Whatever the cause, this pretty much prevents me from using KMail with keyboard
only, and is a major drawback to my previously established KMail workflow - it's
also a regression compared to the KMail versions that shipped with KDE 3. If you
can fix this, I'll be forever grateful :)
