[Akonadi] [Bug 329120] New: Migration Agent displays a totally uninformative dialog requiring user input.

2013-12-22 Thread jem
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329120

Bug ID: 329120
Summary: Migration Agent displays a totally uninformative
dialog requiring user input.
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Migration
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: j...@iki.fi

After 'emerge world' on my Gentoo PC a dialog popped up automatically asking me
to take action. The problem is that the dialog gives no indication of what the
problem is, the severity of the problem or even what piece of software is
involved. The dialog pops out of the blue, it is not associated with any
context.
The window title says: "Conflict Resolution - Migration Agent". The text in the
dialog: "Two updates conflict with each other. Please choose which update(s) to
apply."
"Modification time: Changed contact: 00:00:00, Conflicting Contact 2013-12-22
11:23:40".
Three buttons: "Take left one, Take right one, Keep both".
That's all. This does not tell the user anything and is potentially very scary.
What conflict? The Middle East conflict? What's a contact in this context, and
why does it look like a timestamp?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Gentoo Linux with KDE.
2. Update the system to the latest versions, this time including KDE 4.12.
3. Restart the system.
Actual Results:
At next boot gaze at a mysterious dialog asking you to take action on something
you haven't got the faintest clue of.

Expected Results:
The software should either fix the problem automatically or, if it can't be
resolved automatically, explain what the problem is, what entities are
involved, and what the implications of each of the given alternatives are.

[Bug 281036] New: Drag-and-dropping a message on a folder does not work properly

2011-08-30 Thread jem
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=281036

Summary: Drag-and-dropping a message on a folder does not work
properly
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@iki.fi

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

There is a usability problem with moving or copying a message by dragging it
from the message list and dropping it on a folder. Seems like only the top half
of the area containing the folder name is active, i.e. dropping only works if
the mouse cursor's hot spot is in the upper half of the area. Releasing the
mouse button in the lower half opens the pop-up menu, but choosing "move" or
"copy" does nothing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Grab a message from the message list with the mouse and "drop" it on a folder
so that the tip of the cursor arrow is in the lower half of the area containing
the folder name.

Actual Results:
A pop-up menu appears. You can choose between "move", "copy" and "cancel", but
none of the options actually does anything.

Expected Results:
"Move" should move the message and "copy" should copy it into the target
folder.

kmail (2.1.0) on KDE Platform 4.6.4 (4.6.4) using Qt 4.7.3

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I was staring at a blank KMail: no messages, no folders, nothing. KMail
repeatedly refused to pick up any mail from any server, no matter how long I
waited or how many times I quit and restarted it. The UI looked normal (i.e.
all the buttons, menus etc were there), but the folder and message windows were
completely empty.

I also encountered this bug after migrating to KMail 2.1 from KMail 1. Here's
an additional twist: I clicked the Defaults button as advised above, and I
could see the templates change. Clicked OK and tried to reply to a message.
Quoting still didn't work, and going back to the Message Composer Settings I
saw that the templates were blank again! Tried this a couple of times, same
result. Then I edited one of the templates, and now the changes were
persistent.

Seems like the Defaults button doesn't mark the settings "dirty", so they are
not saved when OK is clicked.

[Bug 275567] New: IMAP subfolders messed up after migration from KMail 1

2011-06-13 Thread jem
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275567

Summary: IMAP subfolders messed up after migration from KMail 1
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.1.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: misc
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@iki.fi

Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

The KMail2 migration tool failed to handle IMAP subfolders properly. They are
visible under INBOX, but show up empty. Refreshing the folders doesn't work
either. In addition, non-ASCII letters in the names are displayed funny, for
example, 'ä' is converted to '&AOQ-' and 'ö' to '&APY-'.

Running akonadiconsole produces error messages like this:
AgentBase(akonadi_imap_resource_0): Select failed, server replied: A000153 NO
Invalid mailbox name: INBOX/Subfolder

Removing the account and then re-creating it fixes the problem, even the folder
names with non-ASCII letters in them.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Create subfolders on an IMAP server using KMail 1 (or any MUA), upgrade to
KMail 2 and let the automatic migration tool do its job.

Actual Results:
Subfolders on the IMAP server are shown empty, and folders with non-ASCII
characters in their names are renamed as described above.

Expected Results:
I expected the migration tool to do its job properly.

The IMAP server is running Dovecot v2.

This bug is not restricted to Kmail. It is probably associated with the text
editing widget used by Kmail and even this "Additional Comments" box I am
typing this into in Konqueror right now.

The bug is a bit annoying, since you can't conveniently delete multiple words
by repeatedly pressing Ctrl-DEL.
