Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org

SUMMARY

KMail detected that an email to Qt [Interest] mailing list might be spam
(again), this time because one of the links in mail body was an HTML link with
text and href attribute set separately:

> Please visit ref=3D"https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-99195; target=3D"_blank" title=
> =3D"https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/qtbug-99195;>
> https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-99195 and provide your use cases =

This email can be viewed on the web.

1. Plain text:

2. HTML:
https://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/interest/attachments/20220117/02bb676c/attachment.htm

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open this email in KMail

OBSERVED RESULT

> Details:
> This email contains a link which reads as
> 'https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/qtbug-99195' in the text, but actually
> points to 'https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-99195'. This is often the
> case in scam emails to mislead the recipient

EXPECTED RESULT

This is not a spam.

[kmail2] [Bug 448112] New: Parsing broken subjects and other possibly UTF-8-encoded headers

2022-01-08 Thread ratijas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448112

Bug ID: 448112
Summary: Parsing broken subjects and other possibly
UTF-8-encoded headers
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@ratijas.tk
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Sometimes I'm getting automated emails from systems that could not properly
encode multi-line UTF-8 subjects.
For example:

> Кассовый чек 500 ₽ от «ПАО "ТАТЕЛЕКОМ"»

In the source view of that email it was represented in one line as this:

> From: "OFD.RU"
> Subject:
> =?UTF-8?B?0JrQsNGB0YHQvtCy0YvQuSDRh9C10LogNTAw?==?UTF-8?B?IOKCvSDQvtGCIMKr0J/QkNCeICLQotCQ0KLQ?==?UTF-8?B?otCV0JvQldCa0J7QnCLCuw==?=

The are two problems, as far as I can tell:

1. It was supposed to be split in multiple lines, after each closing ?=
sequence
2. Unicode code-points should not be split across multiple =?UTF-8?B?...?=
chunks.

But maybe we could make our lives easier by trying to recover broken subjects?

At least, we are already doing a good job of recovering from unspecified
encoding, such as in this follow-up email I got from my internet provider:

> From:
> Subject: ÐвиÑанÑÐ¸Ñ Ð¿Ð¾ оплаÑе ÑÑлÑг ÑвÑзи ÐÐÐ
> «ТаÑÑелеком»

…which KMail tried hard to «correctly» recover as

> Квитанция по оплате услуг связи ПАО «Таттелеком»

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get an email from OFD.RU

OBSERVED RESULT

Unicode symbols shred into pieces, as in

> "ТАТЕЛЕКОМ"

EXPECTED RESULT

> "ТАТТЕЛЕКОМ"

[kmail2] [Bug 448029] New: Spam false-positive, because KMail mis-parses some links

Link looks alright in the message view

SUMMARY

KMail analyzed an email from Qt [interest] mailing list, found there a link
(parsed it), mis-interpretted it, rendered as a link, and considered the whole
email as a spam.

Link: https://bugreports.qt.io/issues/?jql=text%20~%20%22gadget%20qml%22

KMail's details on why it considered it as a scam:

> This email contains a link which reads as
> 'https://bugreports.qt.io/issues?jql=text ~ %22gadget qml'
> in the text, but actually points to
> 'https://bugreports.qt.io/issues?jql=text ~ %22gadget qml%22'.
> This is often the case in scam emails to mislead the recipient

Also, every time you click on a link, message view makes the scam "inline
message" visible again. Like, you close it via the (X) «Close message» button,
click on a link, and it re-appears again with an animation.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get this email message
https://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/interest/2022-January/037848.html, and
somehow open it via KMail

OBSERVED RESULT

Scam warning.

EXPECTED RESULT

No warnings.

Oh boy... I was preoccupied with Bugzilla's poor search functionality, that I
completely forgot to check GitLab history.

Sorry for the duplicate.

KOrganizer applet

SUMMARY

Applet title is too long.

DESCRIPTION

Plasma applet for KOrganizer is shown as "KOrganizer Reminder Daemon".
Which is inadequately long, 3 lines of text to be precise. It feels pretty
redundant, and also makes other icons look weird: Plasma allocates more
height for labels, thus icons look like pushed up or detached from 1-line
labels on other applets nearby. Screenshot provided.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Activate KOrganizer
2. Open up hidden icons from Plasma panel

OBSERVED RESULT

 [ icon ] [ icon ] [ icon ]

   KOrganizer
  KAlarmReminder KDE Connect
 Daemon

 [ icon ]

 Printers

EXPECTED RESULT

My suggestion: leave only one word: either KOrganizer or Reminder.
"Daemon" has totally nothing to do with Plasma applet. And two-words
"KOrganizer Reminder" feels somehow redundant as well.
