The original cause of the bug has been fixed since. Closing, but feel free to
add any comment to existing bugs still open (I'm thinking about bug #335090) in
particular).

 right-click popup menu. Also when you select update in the
 calendar manager side-view in korganizer it should ask you make it

Thanks for coming back to this. As a matter of fact, akonadi/kdepim
turned out to be so unreliable for me that I could not use it any
longer for my work. After staying with KDE for many, many years (and
actively contributing to it in the past) I regretfully deleted
everything KDE from my computers and switched to Gnome and
Thunderbird, which has been working perfectly fine since.

I do remember though, that I tried the steps that you describe, and
none of that made the calender online. Also, there was no error
message. The only thing that worked for me was to remove all PIM
sources, add them again, and use them for a couple of weeks until the
problem showed again.
