KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. It arrived in the inbox and vanished when I moved it to another folder. I grepped the files on disk to no avail. Restoring it from the gmail web interface and trying to download it again does not work. They are never on at the same time. Yesterday I asked my boss to send me an important mail again, because I could not find it, and I received it on my work pc. Later I went home and I turned on my pc and I noticed that the mail wasn't in my inbox, even after a manual sync. Today I turned on my work pc and I clearly saw that mail just after starting kmail, but after few seconds the mail disappeared. I looked for it with a search, but it was completely expunged. Qt: 4.5.3-4 KDE: 4.3.4-2 KMail: 1.12.4 Mepis 8.5 Fortunately I have a backup of the 10 years of mail that I have on this particular address as I was simply taking Mepis for a spin. I see you were using some KDE 4.1 pre-release. As far as I know some dIMAP related mail loss problems have been solved since then. Could you please retry with the latest release to see if the problem is still there? I had the same problem with KDE 4.2.1 and I think I found the reason why it happened (I never tried to reproduce it). It was a quite huge mail I received (something like 6 MB) and I stoped kMail from downloading it before it was in my box. I believe I used the antispam wizard. At the time I had no antispam software (like bogofilter) on my box, but that did not prevent the wizard to end without complaining and setup bogus filters, where every new mail was considered spam and was sent to trash. First I thought I had a DIMAP synchronization problem, so I asked kmail to rebuild the cache. Big mistake. Every mail was considered as new and got filtered. Technically every mail was not lost (though some were), but that can easily result in a true loss when the trash is emptied. Are you using filters? Do you loose every mail or just some mails? If you loose only some mails, which do you loose? When do you loose mails? When synchronizing or when doing other actions? Providing minimal steps to help us reprodcue the problem would be really appreciated. Unfortunately it's hard to tell how to reproduce it. I have been using its IMAP support for almost two weeks now and I was just /suspecting/ that I was loosing emails, until some hours ago I saw how Kmail deleted all of my new emails after a crash. The emails I manually marked as unread were not deleted. Most of the emails I'm aware I've lost are affected by filters, which I've attached to this bug.
